Great location and comfort even in the heat. A superb location, a 5-minute walk from the metro or a bus stop, or 12 minutes from Nation station. A large fridge, a washing machine, a dishwasher and the necessary detergents, plus a cosy inner courtyard with potted trees. Given that we were in Paris during an extreme heatwave (42–45 degrees), and the flat isn’t air-conditioned, it was quite comfortable because the windows face the inner courtyard with plants and the sun never reaches the windows at any time of day (it’s on the ground floor of an old stone building), and the entrance is also from inside the courtyard. There are two supermarkets nearby, and the Puces d’Aligre market, with a good selection of fish and fruit, is within walking distance. It’s easy to get to all the attractions we needed to visit thanks to the large metro station nearby (Nation). There’s also an e-bike hire stand right by the entrance to the building. There’s a gym nearby as well.
The flat has very little storage space, as all the shelves were already filled with the owner’s belongings (boots, old clothes, etc.), and the cupboard in the bathroom was also full of the owner’s things, so there was nowhere to put our hairdryer. There are no wardrobes at all. We ended up having to live out of our suitcases for a week. We’d booked the flat for three people (two adults and a 10-year-old child), but there was only one set of bed linen, even though there’s a sofa and a bed; we managed to make do, though. Also, the water in the shower was erratic – usually cold (summer temperature) – and we only managed to get warm water twice that week, but in such heat that was fine by us. There’s no boiler in the flat, so the water is either from the mains or the boiler is physically located in the neighbouring flat, and they managed to use it all up before we did. All in all, these minor issues aren’t a big deal; the flat is lovely and we had a brilliant time.
