We really enjoyed our stay at the Hoosier Lake House. The property is wooded and rustic and feels very secluded. We enjoyed the outdoor area including the fire pit and having coffee on the deck while deer wandered by in the clearing in the morning. The house was very spacious and we enjoyed that there are multiple living areas so our group could spread out. The basement was a nice hang out area for the teens in our group. The kitchen was spacious and we enjoyed the coffee station, although overall the kitchen could use better lighting. The dining table was large enough for our whole group with a lovely view out the back windows. The bedrooms were comfortable and everything was clean when we arrived. Communication with the host was very easy and they were very kind and accommodating to us. Would definitely recommend this property for a larger group visiting Bloomington and Lake Monroe.

Wonderful place to stay!

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable and unique lakehouse. We found the home to be set up for maximum comfort. It was clean, well stocked with linens and towels, kitchen cookware and dinnerware, and even basic toiletries for us in the bathroom.

We had eight family members with 3 dogs in tow. The home had plenty of room to spread out and maintain personal space. This location and amenities were just as advertised and expected. Our host was exceptional in responding quickly to our inquiries. We are happy to recommend this spot.

Family wedding in the area

It was close to Eagle Pointe but tucked away to make you feel like had left the rest of the world behind. Great location and worked wonderfully for our family. Even the 10 month old enjoyed exploring. Erin was great.

The view was incredible, very peaceful. The house is very large so lots of places to cozy up with a book and read while enjoying the view. We had seven people and there was plenty of room. Hard to enjoy the outside area because it slopes down so much, but that was okay with us. The deck is a wonderful place to sit outside. The owners are very responsive, and took care of any issues we had. It’s the perfect place for a group or larger family. Don’t miss the morning lake view, the mist rising up is breathtaking!

Beautiful Lake House

The house was spacious and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The only downsides were the grill had not yet been replaced so we had to bring our own and towels needed to be washed, dried, and put in a hamper that I was unable to locate before you left. The property is peaceful but close enough to Bloomington to go out to eat. If you are planning a trip to lake Monroe it is an excellent home base.

Beautiful kitchen which was well equipped, but poorly lit. Oven needs instruction manual. Ample towels. Lovely deck but needs more seating. Clearing of Sasquatch trail.Overall, it’s a great place to stay.

60th anniversary family weekend

We wanted to treat our parents for their 60th wedding anniversary. They are 80 so we wanted quiet and plenty of room. This house was PERFECT! 11 of us stayed comfortably and were able to spread out and hang out together when we wanted to. We cooked a large dinner for them and everything we needed they had available. We loved the beautiful deck where you can see the lake, listen to birds and watch for wildlife. They have books everywhere, organized and tidy. My parents were thrilled to look through them. So nostalgic. The host was responsive and helpful. We hope to make this a yearly tradition. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!! I can’t say enough wonderful things!

Hoosier Lakehouse with view

Quirky is the best description of the house. We were disappointed not having a gas grill as listed and made sure we brought gas with us as instructed. Lighting in kitchen ( where we had to cook) was inadequate in cooking area. Arrived to soiled dishes in dishwasher and linens with dog hair. Soiled dog beds were under the human beds. The back deck was very nice with a view of the lake. The access (stated as rugged) was an overgrown steep ravine . A few critters joined us in one of the bedrooms Not the best conditions but we shared some great family time.

Gas grill was unavailable due to major accident. Will be available for future guests. The trail description in the VRBO posting is a proper description of trail. Please simply read the description in full. This is a pet friendly home and we do provide dog beds, dog dishes and dog toys for our pup friends! Please keep this in mind before booking. During this guests stay the water levels on lake Monroe we’re 13 feet above normal. All beaches were closed as reported on the local news. Cleaning service is a professional cleaning service which was followed up with after this guests stay.

Hoosier Lakehouse Review

This property is beautiful and relaxing. Even the pictures online can't do full justice to the incredible scenery. We were all impressed with the setting, and the views from inside and out are nothing short of breathtaking. The house itself proved very comfortable for seven adults over a 3 day span. And I cannot sing enough praises about our host--she was kind-hearted and courteous. Even when we had a question about some lighting after 9pm, she got back to us within about 5 minutes. Absoultely above and beyond! It truly felt like we were guests in a cherished family home, and I would absolutely recommend this destination to any groups or families. I imagine it is especially beautiful in autumn.

Already booked again

My family—six adults, two children, baby on the way—take a short trip every year. We usually stay in one of the very nice cabins between Bloomington and Nashville, but wanted something closer to the lake. There was a MAJOR issue with the cleaning service, but Erin, the property owner, was quick to respond and helped save our vacation from being ruined. And the cleaning service offered to come out while we were there to make up for it (we declined). I’m rating it as 5 stars because the house itself was perfect and just what we needed. I’m rating the house alone, because giving this property a bad rating based on the cleaning company’s negligence wouldn’t be accurate. Looking forward to staying again, but hoping the cleaning service is on their game next time!

Lake House surprise

1st time renting . Didn’t expect to have to clean my own towels or coffees pots etc… thought that’s what the cleaning fee was for. Having a late check in and early checkout is unfortunate. But the house is beautiful. There is no path to the lake but there is a beautiful view. And the host is very nice about helping and trying to make your stay as good as possible. Seemed like everyone needed to go to sleep at the same time because of the lack of insulation inside the house. Also the bathtub doesn’t drain properly and we had a huge water problem in the basement which had obviously happened before. In the end we paid a lot of money between parties( verbo, the home owner, cleaning etc..) for this place and being a 1st timer kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. But it is beautiful and the host was very kind and thoughtful she really did try to make thing’s as good as possible. There are lots of kitchen amenities, outdoor chairs and firewood. which I would have know about also.

Great for a group

The Hoosier Lake House accommodated us well for a long weekend with my husband, three grown kids & their spouses & two grandsons & one German Shepherd. We appreciated having enough bedrooms and the extra living space in the basement. The house is well-stocked with supplies and beds were comfortable; however, the lighting, especially in the kitchen is inadequate and only a lantern in the laundry room makes it difficult to use. The view from the main living room is great and we loved the quiet setting. We were disappointed to not have access to the "private beach," which was a main selling point for us when we booked the house. We expected the path to be an "expert hike" and not for kids (as the listing suggests), but we learned the day before our stay that it had not been cleared this summer and we didn't want to risk getting poison ivy. It also took almost 24 hours for the house (excluding the basement) to cool down to 70 degrees, which was not ideal. And the outdoor space was not exactly as pictured; although the Blackstone grill was nice. Would recommend renting a boat for the day from Four Winds - that was a great experience and Fairfax Beach was nice for an afternoon in the sun. Erin was very responsive, even when the power went out (due to a storm) in the early morning hours.

This home has been in our family for 20 years when it was purchased by our Grandpartents over 25 years ago. Myself, my mother, my cousin and my aunt all wanted to keep the home in our family and we thought what a better way than sharing it with others!

Derfor valgte værten dette overnatningssted

If you love nature, bonfires, swimming, hiking, reading, playing games and a great view this house is great for you and your group! Sleeps up to 12!!

Derfor er dette overnatningssted unikt

5 acres with expert trails down to the lake shore. Fairfax beach just a short drive away with boat rentals and other fun stuff to do at the park!
