Hi future guests! We’re from Los Angeles and have loved Joshua Tree for years. There is something about the depth and stillness of the desert that changes your pace almost immediately. We love the incredible sunsets, the dark star-filled nights, hiking in Joshua Tree National Park, the local restaurants and farmers market, and the wonderfully eclectic mix of music, art, wellness, and people who are drawn here.

Joshua Tree can be quiet and restorative one moment and completely unexpected the next. We love catching well-known musicians in tiny desert venues like Pappy & Harriet’s, discovering art installations seemingly in the middle of nowhere, exploring local galleries, and checking out the music, yoga, and wellness festivals that happen throughout the year.

La Bandita has become our own gathering place in the desert. We often come here with friends and family to cook, laugh, celebrate birthdays and special occasions, or simply spend time together. As creatives, we find the desert incredibly inspiring—the space, silence, light, landscape, and sense that you can hear yourself think again.

Over the years, we’ve also used La Bandita as a space for retreats, reflection, healing, and deeper conversations. There is a very special energy to this land that is difficult to describe until you experience it. We even have a particular place in the backyard that we jokingly—and sometimes not so jokingly—call our “energy vortex.” We like to lie there under the desert sky, get quiet, ask ourselves a question, and see what comes up. Somehow, answers seem much easier to hear out here.

For us, Joshua Tree is more than a getaway. It’s a place to reconnect—with nature, with the people you love, with creativity, and sometimes with yourself.

What we love most is the location. La Bandita is tucked into a beautiful, quiet area that backs up to Joshua Tree National Park, so you feel removed from everything while still being only about 2 miles from downtown Joshua Tree, the Visitor Center, restaurants, shops, and other conveniences.

One of our favorite things is the local trail about a mile from the house and within walking distance. It has so much of what we love about Joshua Tree—wide-open views, dramatic boulders, Joshua tree forests, and desert wildlife—without having to drive into the park.

There is also something magical about the quiet here. At almost any time of day, you can sit outside and hear little more than birds and the sounds of the desert. We love watching the bunnies, quail, chipmunks, roadrunners, and other little visitors that wander through. We also respect the less adorable native critters and insects that are part of desert life—we just don’t find all of them quite as cute.

And we love our neighbors. It feels peaceful, friendly, and connected while still giving you that wonderful sense of space and solitude.

La Bandita is unique because it feels like both a private desert retreat and a place made for gathering. It’s equally suited for romantic getaways, family time, weekends with friends, celebrations, or simply escaping somewhere beautiful and quiet.

The property backs up to Joshua Tree National Park, with expansive desert and mountain views from nearly every room in the house. One of our favorite things is simply watching the sky change minute by minute as the clouds move and the light shifts across the landscape.

The open floor plan gives everyone room to be together without feeling crowded, and the bedrooms are designed for comfort, with cozy beds and comforters our guests consistently tell us they love.

Outside, there are so many ways to enjoy the property—a pool and spa, propane fire pit, hammocks, outdoor dining, tetherball, and plenty of space to relax, play, or spend time under the stars. The landscaping has its own desert character, with graceful palo verde trees that stay green year-round and burst into beautiful yellow blossoms, plus a cactus garden welcoming you at the front of the house. And when the season is right, you can pick fresh figs straight from our mature fig tree.

We’ve intentionally created La Bandita as more than just a place to stay. It's an experience. It has become a space for creativity, connection, reflection, retreats, celebrations, romance, and rest. It feels private and peaceful, but still warm, comfortable, and inviting—a home people can truly settle into and enjoy.
