Summer Salt - Oceanfront Escape Just Steps to the Sand and Surf!

This unique oceanfront vacation home in Oak Island is ready for your beach getaway. When you’re not just outside Summer Salt’s backdoor taking in the sun and surf, the open floor plan of the house is great for family time!

Summer Salt has 5 bedrooms and sleeps 11. The main floor includes 2 bedrooms, a full bath, a deck off the dining area on the street side, and a large oceanfront deck. The upper floor has 3 more bedrooms, a full bath, and an oceanfront balcony off the upstairs primary bedroom. On the ground floor, there's an additional shower in the laundry room that is equipped with a full-size washer and dryer.

Enjoy your front row seats to sunrises and sunsets from the spacious oceanfront deck! The deck offers new rocking chairs, chaise loungers, and a picnic table.

The Town of Oak Island is investing in one of its biggest beach nourishment projects in decades, bringing fresh sand and a wider beach to the island. The work will be completed in April '26 so that sea turtle nesting is not disturbed. This project greatly enhances beach space and shoreline protection for all beach lovers.

Summer Salt is conveniently located on the beautiful west end of Oak Island and is just minutes from the mainland and 3 grocery stores – Publix, Lowes, and Food Lion. When you’re not relaxing and swimming at the beach, there’s so much more to do during your visit!

The house is in a great location, private access to beach was a definite perk. The house is very clean and the kitchen well stocked. The hosts were very attentive and responded to all emails quickly. Only slight issue for my group of 65 year old women was the spiral staircase.

October 2025…Just as beautiful in the fall. The weather was perfect ranging from 75 to 70. It was my mom‘s 81st birthday. This was the first time we all vacation together. The host responded timely to our questions. The beachfront house was lovely inside and out. The beach views were beyond our expectation. The beds were very comfortable. It was sad to say goodbye. From this, we promise to do something once a year together. Thank you Summer Salt!!!

We loved this house! It was very cozy and comfortable and we literally were steps from the sand. It looked exactly as pictured and was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. And this is a great place for little kids (built-in baby gates at the stairs) and tons of sand toys and an inflatable pool. Plenty of beach chairs and towels too. The stairs, while they looked a little tricky in the picture, were very manageable and the view of the beach from the second floor balcony is definitely worth the climb. We used the bedrooms on the main floor but did go downstairs to use the washer/dryer. The owners were incredibly kind and responsive. We will definitely be back!!

Beach heaven!

My family loved their stay at “Summer Salt”! We loved being SO close to the beach. Even my elderly father was able to make it to the water to sit and cool his feet. The stairs to the top level are a little tricky but didn’t bother us. Haag and sons fish market is great and we really enjoyed taking the Fisher island ferry for a day trip to the aquarium and into Wilmington.

Super responsive hosts!

Responsive hosts when we had questions. We had a minor faucet issue and the hosts immediately called in a great handyman to take care of the issue. This is a well cared for property in a perfectly glorious spot of Oak Island! I loved the stocked kitchen, spacious bedrooms and light-filled living room /main room.

College Girlfriends Trip

What a great place to stay! So incredibly close to the water, great deck and perfect views. The kitchen was fully stocked with just about anything you could need and came with a decent amount of spices - the most that I've ever experienced with a rental. Summer Salt was great for our group. I will say the stairs aren't for everyone but the space totally worked for us. I cannot tell you how incredible it was to work with Melissa, the property owner. So incredibly welcoming, kind, and prompt with answering questions about the property.

Nice place

Overall a very nice place. Owners are super responsive and very pleasant to deal with. Bathrooms could use a little upgrade, has a tricky staircase for older people. One thing I would point out is bring your own bath towels and wash cloths. Usually linens provided means they are provided. Only sheets in this case. Not a big deal. Overall very nice place, we would definitely recommend and stay again.

Great house great location

House was beautiful and location couldn’t be more Perfect. I don’t want to seem too overly detailed as I’m satisfied with my stay but I wanted to mention a couple things: There’s a spiral staircase which can make carrying luggage hard. The bedrooms do not have outlets or nightstands on both sides of the beds and luckily I thought to bring power strips with long cords that worked for my CPAP. In and out was easy and owners checked in via messaging to make sure everything was okay. Please note there are no thick shades in any room and the curtains are see-through so the main bedroom on the first floor with sliding doors was a bit awkward for changing clothes in as you could see right into the bedroom from the deck. None of this would prevent us from staying here again but I think it’s nice things to know ahead of time. We really enjoyed the place. Don’t hesitate to rent it.

Beautiful beach house

The house is beautiful and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils. A brand new fridge arrived the day we checked in which was nice. It was nice having 2 fridges to stock items. We appreciated the short walk to the beach when hauling all of our beach chairs, toys, etc. The back porch has wonderful views of the ocean and plenty of rocking chairs for all 6 adults on our trip. We had two small issues that we mentioned to the owners and they were very quick to respond and get the issues resolved promptly. These issues did not affect our stay (one a leaky outdoor shower) and more so we mentioned so the owners wouldn’t have a large water bill. One thing to note is the stairs could be difficult for older individuals or individuals with mobility issues. Overall are stay was wonderful and we could have not asked for better owners to work with. Thank you Melissa and Mike!
