Located out in the woods but close to all of the best of Bend's amenities. Quiet, retreat located on River property . Views of Mt. Bachelor on a clear day from the communal deck area with beautiful sounds of a river below. Nestled in the woods and perfect for those looking to relax and retreat to their natural roots, see wildlife, eagles and enjoy the serenity of the Oregon woods. Great for all seasons of skiers, hikers, mountain bikers, and all other outdoor sport enthusiasts!

The inside of the living quarters hosts a unique feel of a log cabin. Porch area to relax and read. Private deck and Communal deck area to see the beautiful River views. Parking available for 2 or 3 cars. Wildlife constantly touring property. Quiet back-road location. Wash/dryer, warm shower, kitchen, living and dining areas, multiple beds (two doubles, one single), original wood stove and traditional heaters, full closets, and fun vibe! Minutes to downtown Bend, 25 minutes to Bachelor, 20 minutes to Ice skating, world class biking, playing hockey etc, 3 miles from High Desert Musuem. View of Mt. Bachelor and Deschutes River from communal deck.

COVID-19 cleaning procedures followed per CDC guidelines.

cozy and charming

We loved staying in this cozy cabin like home. We walked in to a plate of homemade cookies and a basket of snacks. Cathy was an incredibly hospitable host. The location near the river was beautiful and it was incredibly quiet at night. Thank you for sharing your creative home.

Great view, wooded, artsy place

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin is full of interesting, quirky art by the host. There is a private rooftop deck. Cathy is a generous host. Surrounded by trees, the views from her deck are wonderful. Easy access to the core of Bend, lava lands, mountains, lakes. We would definitely stay here again.

Week Long Stay in Oregon

The house was extremely cozy, which was apparent to us from the minute we walked in. The owner was very welcoming and left us with gifts and numerous recommendations for things to do during our stay. We felt at home for the entire duration of our stay.

Great Stay

Cathy was such a welcoming host! Her home was spotless and had such fun little touches that really gave it a soul. The space worked great for us, had everything we needed and there was such a nice welcome gift when we got there. We loved our stay and chatting with her as well.

A hidden gem in the forest

Absolutely loved the cabin and the area we were in. Cathy was a wonderful host and gave us advice and an experience we will not forget. Definitely will be staying here again in the future

Serene and quiet stay.

The apartment was depicted accurately. Very clean. The owner/host was very accommodating, friendly, and easy to work with. I would recommend this place and we will be booking another stay very soon.

A little touch of paradise

What a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Oregon. Cathy goes above and beyond as a hostess. She thinks of everything for her guests. The guest house is so welcoming and comfortable. I loved the decor and beautiful yard. We will definitely stay here again, if we ever return to Bend.

Exactly what all the other reviewers have said

I can't really add more to what has been said about the property and Cathy that hasn't already been said. She was communicative from the beginning when I'd reserved the property a few months prior up to and including the day of our arrival. Welcome snacks (including the homemade cookies), copious amounts of local information about activities and a super-charming property made our stay memorable. The icing on the cake is their cat, Ruby, who's very friendly but all business when patrolling the property in the morning.

A perfect retreat

What a charming little cottage! More than ample room for the three of us on on our girls' getaway. Tastefully and comfortably furnished, and in a great location - pretty much equidistant from Bend and Sunriver, while still feeling remote and private. Cathy has cleverly made use of every possible space and there was nothing she hadn't supplied. The upstairs patio was lovely and we sat there for hours one night under the twinkle lights. Cathy was there to welcome us and was such a gracious host, going the distance to provide a welcome basket and cookies which made the stay even more personal. We stay in a lot of rental properties and this one was truly a delight all around.

Bend stay

The stay was outstanding from start to finish. Cathy met us upon arrival and give us many tips on things to do and places to go. The property was spotless and very well appointed. It is a very peaceful spot and only 10 minutes from town. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Get spot in Bend!

Cathy was great! Upon arrival she had a goodie basket along with some wine. Then she brought over stuff to make s’mores. The house was perfect for my two friends and I. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in Bend!

Hidden gem.

Great property surrounded by trees and within walking distance of the Deschutes River. The house itself is well taken care of, immaculate and the hostess, Cathy, will do everything in her power to insure you have a pleasant stay.

Great stay! Love the Christmas theme!

We had a great time in the house! So many cute decorations and Harry Potter books, classic videos and beautiful deck, so happy to pick this place and got to know Cathy and handsome cat Ruby!

Quaint, rustic little house with a pretty deck! The hostess was super, providing cookies and other yummy appetizers. She was very helpful!! A delightful place to relax and there were many nearby activities to enjoy.

Comfortable getaway

Great location. Close to downtown but out of the busy traffic. Cute and cozy feel. Our host Cathy was great, she had homemade salsa and cookies on the table. All around great vacation spot!

Home away from home

After a long day of traveling, we arrived to a wonderfully prepared gift basket and homebaked cookies. The kids truly enjoyed the amenities. After a long day of tournaments, it was nice to come back and relax. Thank you Cathy for making our stay amazing. We would definitely come back next year.

Cute place in beautiful setting

Cathy was very easy to communicate with ahead of and during our stay. Bery responsive. The cabin is adorable. We were greeted with a basket full of snacks and homemade salsa! The beds were comfortable and the quiet location made for a good sleep. There is a large deck off the main deck is accessible and there is also a restful deck off the second bedroom upstairs in the cabin. Highly recommend!

Beautiful location

The Deschutes River Apt was in a very beautiful and peaceful setting. Cathy was an amazing hostess. She left us a basket of snacks and some delicious homemade cookies! She was super friendly and informative. The apartment was very clean and comfy. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a relaxing place to stay while visiting Bend.

Above and Beyond

A few friends and I were planning on spending a few days in Bend doing some mountain biking. After reviewing one of the other short term rental internet sites. I decided to try VRBO to see if there were better deals. I found Cathy's apartment and secured the rental. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at the welcoming atmosphere Cathy provided. On arrival, she met us and made sure we knew that if there were any issues during our stay to let her know. When we entered the apartment we found a plate of fresh homemade cookies waiting. In the kitchen we found a welcome basket with more goodies. The apartment is nicely decorated, clean and comfortable throughout. There is a nice upstairs deck with outdoor seating for hanging out on a warm summer afternoon. We also were able to use the main house deck that had views of the river. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would recommend the apartment for anyone looking to stay in Bend for a few days.

That's me on the right! I'm a retired interior designer and home builder. I have lived in Oregon full-time since 1973. I have raised my children here of which I am so proud. They now live here in Bend, OR and as far away as Boston, MA. One is a "Sparkie" (Electrican and the other a Pro Hockey player and Chemist) I love my property and have put it together completely on my own as a single-mother. I am excited to embark on my journey of a vacation rental of my own, something I remodeled! Come and enjoy the Rustic appeal the Oregon Mountains have to offer!

This shed had a caved in roof from the snow when I first drove up to this property in 1988 to live here full-time. Since then I have completely renovated, performed all permitted construction, fixed the original electrical, plumbing and decorated, putting together every element that goes into the Roost!!.. This has been my pet project for the last couple of years and I'm excited to share the unique decorating and feel of a place to put your feet up ...in the woods with visitors!

Guests use a small second deck off my back of main house to view the River below and enjoy the summer sun and the fantastic Sunsets. Has it's own lawn chairs etc. I have osprey, bald eagles, racoons, porcupines and deer constantly on this property, come and enjoy the unique walks around the neighborhood! Bikes are available in the warmer months to tour the neighborhood also.
