The Hidden Gem is centrally located in the village of Clifford, PA. Close to the city of Scranton and the PA Endless Mountains. Take part in skiing, hiking and biking, and shopping, exploring and dining at some of our favorite local spots! Enjoy our 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, eat in kitchen, large living room with Roku tv + Netflix, yard with natural fire pit and deck for lots of outdoor lounging and activity. Come spend some time unwinding and unplugging with family, friends and your furry loved one all year long. Guests can enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine from our favorite local winery, coffee, tea and sugar.

Great location!

My husbamd, my mother and I were coming to Scranton to visit our daughter (with my daughter’s dog). I found this cute (centrally located home/dog friendly) and it was great for us. We all had our own bedrooms. The outside space was nice (although the weather didn’t cooperate to have a fire). I can’t wait to rerun and use the fire pit to make mountain pies and s’mores. Thank you!

Perfect Ski Weeken

My husband and I rented this place for a short ski weekend. It was very clean and the owner was quick to answer any questions. This is the perfect location with only a quick drive to elk mountain for a great ski day.

Could have been given a few more details ..

Cute little house, but there are no heaters in the bedrooms upstairs, so you need to use space heaters which I wasn’t comfortable with having kids. The house smells a little like animals and has some residual pet hair on the couches and carpets. The driveway and front path were not cleared but when we got there and was very icy and difficult to walk on. Otherwise, a cute littleHouse very close to Elk Mountain.

weekend trip to ski at Elk

The house was really well appointed, cute, clean and comfortable. The owner was extremely responsive to questions. The location was less than 15 minutes from Elk Ski resort, which was great. It was a very comfortable stay.

Nice Christmas Away

This place is very cute and the host even had a Christmas tree set up. Lots of extras and supplies in kitchen. It was extremely cold and had a small issue but my husband was able to fix before the owner could even come over.

Well priced for being close to Elk Ski Resort

Nice and perfect for a couple people that wanna ski. Would be nice to have access to a washer and dryer after skiing all day for a couple days but not a huge deal. Nice quaint little place that filled our needs.

Ski trip Getaway

The house was actually even nicer & more spacious than the pictures give it credit for. We enjoyed our short stay for a ski trip at Elk Mountain. The house was perfect clean, cozy & we appreciated the winter decor to go with our winter getaway. Thank you!

Needs work

I could not get comfortable in this home. When I arrived, I found several bottom-floor windows unlocked, and one of the windows next to the front door has a completely broken-off window lock, so anyone can just come inside. I had to rig the window to make it not easily open-able during my stay, but was still nervous because there was trash in the backyard like someone had been hanging around the house. Parts and chunks of blinds in the home were missing, meaning a loss of privacy. There were not locks on two of the bedroom doors and the one bedroom that did have a lock is connected to the attic where there were dead insects so I didn't want to sleep in it. I wouldn't have even went into the attic except that I had felt someone could be in the home because of the window security problem. There is also low water pressure in the shower so even with the heat turned all the way up it still was not pleasant. If the security problems and water pressure issue were fixed, this would have been a decent stay. The home is in an excellent location, relatively quiet and could have been very cozy and peaceful if not for the problems. I almost feel bad writing this because I'm a very easy-to-please laid back kind of person, but really for what I paid, these problems are definitely not okay. I left a day early. I had a hard time sleeping here and was nervous the whole time as a small woman staying alone.

Amazing

My husband and I planed a last minute get away for our anniversary and came across this place. The hosts were very responsive and informative with the questions I had. The house was very clean and cozy. Everything we could have needed to was provided. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you hosts for such a cozy place!

34th Wedding Anniversary

The house was spacious but didn't realize that it was so close to the road which kinda made it hard to sleep or rest and we did try the diner(Elk) not bad for breakfast huge I mean LARGE Pancake very nice little diner also tried pizza place down the street very friendly staff great chicken fingers and fries also remote wouldn't work so found easy way for volume change from back of TV but all in all great getaway place for short trips..

Quick getaway

Very homie and comfortable. The place was clean and there was plenty of room for the 5 of us. The only complained was it was a little chilly in the morning and evening. The fireplace did take the chill off in the living room.

Great Location! Excellent Host

The host went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us! We moved from Arizona to Pennsylvania and our new home in PA wasn’t going to be ready for a few weeks. The host graciously allowed us to stay with our pets. We really appreciated her understanding and flexibility! Thank you again!

We enjoy adding small touches to make our home feel like your own while connecting with small businesses in our community. We love to fuss over the Gem and Luna enjoys coming along to run around in the backyard and occasionally make herself comfortable on the couch!

The name says it is all. We chose this house because it truly was a Hidden Gem in the quaint village of Clifford, PA. We set out looking for a local home that guests can enjoy all year round and that is exactly what we found. We enjoy the firepit just about all year round. The fall is prime time to appreciate the foliage and local orchards and pumpkin patches. Winter is excellent for skiing at Elk or Montage Mountain or cozying up and cooking a home cooked meal in our kitchen with family and friends over the holidays. Spring is a great time to get out on the D&H Rail Trail with your bikes and get a tour of a local maple syrup farm. Enjoy a coffee on the deck in the summer time and explore the lakes and trails nearby along with the beautiful wedding venues such as Takash's Grove and the Farm at Cottrell Lake. Ultimately we chose this home to update because we saw it's potential and fell in love with giving it a new story. We instantly felt comfortable and wanted our friends and family to enjoy it too! We hope you feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed when you stay at the Hidden Gem.
