Family Villa w/ Private Pool, Trolley Ride to Beach/Attractions

Hello, according to our message history, there were zero messages from you until 2 weeks before your arrival, at which point, we had a back and forth conversation about details. VRBO sent you check in instructions which included the code 3 days prior to arrival. I also resent this information on check in day when the cleaners had completed preparing the house. You make it sound like I didn't communicate at all, which is false.

The pool at our villa is fully operational and new guests have enjoyed it. The pictures of the house Jill is referring to were from before renovations which is what I told her back in February. We had issues with our pool company which Jill was aware of in June when I told her the pool had been installed but the patio had to be completed. We have since contracted with a new company to complete the job (3 months late) and maintain the pool. Since Jill was unable to use the pool, I issued her a substantial refund and paid for the group to take surfing lessons as a gesture of taking responsibility for their disappointment. I think they enjoyed the lessons and their stay in Bethany Beach regardless of having access to a pool. As for Jill's group, they broke a toilet seat, clogged the toilet with toilet paper so bad I needed to call in a plumber and they destroyed one of the brand new sofa's wood frame. They didn't tell me about it, propped it up so that i wouldn't notice and left it so that someone could have gotten hurt. In the end it had to be replaced. I find it an unfair representation to call me a liar because her story is rather one-sided, and she wasn't fully honest with me either. I made my best effort to make their trip worth while and incurred many substantial costs in doing so. All the best to Jill and the kids.

Thank you for the feedback. We have since updated our provisions to include all of the basics. We also freshly painted the house, which we do once a year.

Thank you for your feeedback. I will adjust my messaging regarding sprinklers and pool maintenance expectations. I wasn't aware of the paint issue in the bathroom so thank you for letting me know. As you may not be aware, managing a pool requires constant monitoring. If i didn't do that the chemical balance would be off and people would complain. I have learned that over the last few years. This is especially true when it rains, and we had some bad weather the week prior to your visit. I ask my guests how the pool feels to be sure they have the best experience. I am disturbed that you characterize me as being overtly watchful. I was only concerned with the pool and wasn't watching you. There is most definitely grass surrounding the pool deck. Your statement is false. We have sprinklers to ensure it is healthy and thick. Only one side recently had to be dug up to fix the pool plumbing and sod is going to be replaced in the fall of 24 on that side. Every year we get a few stains from renters and we replace furniture, touch up paint and have the carpets cleaned when there is time between renters but this isn't possible on a typical summer schedule. Nobody wants to smell paint fumes when they arrive.
