Charming, LAKEFRONT cottage on beautiful HIGGINS LAKE

South Higgins Hideaway is a lakefront cottage on the southern shore of celebrated Higgins Lake, in northern Michigan. Escape to the great outdoors with swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating, a firepit and hiking, all at your front door. The vintage Hideaway is located on sixty feet of sandy, crystal clear lakefront and is within walking distance to the South State Park. We have three bedrooms and 1 full bath. All three bedrooms have queen beds with plenty of pillows and linens provided. Please note; our third bedroom, the porch bedroom, is unheated and only available in the warmer months. Two kayaks are available for your enjoyment during your stay; life jackets are not provided.

Our kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need. A coffee pot, french press and grinder are on hand. The Microwave, toaster oven, griddle and blender will make your stay more comfortable. We provide clean linens and towels. We have a smart tv, wifi, lots of games, puzzles, books and vintage vinyl for hours of entertainment. Our wrap around, three season porch makes an ideal spot for an afternoon nap.

We're a 15 minute drive to quaint downtown Roscommon and 20 minutes from Houghton Lake. There are plenty of beaches, parks, disc and golf courses, all within a short drive. Pizza, icecream and the park store are all very close.

A nice getaway on a perfect Lake

We really enjoyed ourselves on Higgins lake. It was a short vacation, only 3 nights, but well worth it. The house is definitely a cottage type rental. We had absolutely perfect weather, with cool nights, so the lack of A/C did not drive my wife to a hotel. We enjoyed the vinyl collection while playing vintage Sorry. Rented a pontoon boat from across the lake, and the mooring was perfect. This house is right next to the State park, and I was worried about the number of boats parked just off shore, but there was no noise, and a pretty chill atmosphere. Thank you!

Perfect Higgins Lake Getaway

The cottage was everything we were looking for and more. Audrey was very communicative and helpful from booking through checkout. The place was fully stocked and so well equipped that we ended up not needing to use a lot of things we packed! We really appreciated the level of thoughtfulness throughout, and would definitely stay here again!

Another great year

2nd year enjoying this location. The weather wasn’t perfect, but the location and cottage makes you forget about that. Everything you need is at your fingertips, it is so relaxing and the property owners are exceptional. I am a picky particular person and i love everything about my families experience. Can’t thank the host enough!

Perfect getaway

The location was perfect, we had the most wonderful time. Memories were made for my grandsons that will last a lifetime. The boys made a new buddy from next door, and the dog even made a new buddy. Our host was the best, very accommodating and friendly. We are planning another getaway for next year and definitely plan on booking here.

Great spot on the lake.

What a lovely spot this is and a courteous host who was responsive. Our first time to the lake and this spot offered unaparalleled access to the lake. House was as advertised and cozy. Plenty of plates and things to cook at home. Excellent fire pit with wood included. Thanks!

Awesome stay and host, great communication, home was as described and very clean, nice location and even included an overnight anchor for our boat. Will be back, definitely highly recommend!

Great location! Adorable cabin

We had a wonderful stay! Despite the rain and cold a couple of the days, the cabin was cozy and warm. Beds were comfy and we had everything we needed. We hope to go back!

Charming with fun sand bar area

The house has many fun and charming details. We all enjoyed getting to know the house over the weekend. The owners leave a lot of helpful things around for your use like games, firewood, pokers, matches, spices, paper plates (no dw). There are some quirky things about the property; we were so charmed by it that there wasn't a complaint among us when we had to use extension cords for this or that. No laundry. We loved the huge sandbar area. Felt very special. Loved the two kayaks. Overall we all agreed it was far from the fanciest of rentals we've experienced but one of our all time favorites. We'd love to return.

Hidden little gem on the lake!

What an adorable little cottage! We had a blast with our friends and family at this place! Lots of laughs and memories in the short time we were there. The owner has stocked this home with all the necessities so all you really need is food and clothing. There are towels and blankets for indoor and out, all kitchen utensils, dishes, spices, oils, coffee etc! (We brought everything so hopefully this will lighten your packing!) The only drawback I would say is there really isn’t a “beach” area if u have little ones but the state park beach is literally steps away! This cottage has so much character and charm, we will hopefully be back in the future!

This was incredible on all levels the host the location and the space. We all felt like this peace and comfort when we walked in. The cottage has everything you could need. The decor was epic and thought out. Our family had a blast!!! We will definitely be back we have been going to different lake rentals this year and this trip was my entire family’s favorite. The host with the most ❤️

Amazing

The property was amazing, and the people were even better. We enjoyed the neighbors, the water, the view. Even during a storm it was amazing. The bedrooms are amazing and there's a bed on the front porch where we slept the whole time. The kitchen is awesome and very well stocked. Everything you could ever want is in there. Lots of extra blankets and towels. Books and games. Lots of outside chairs. We were not able to bring much of our own stuff with us because we're from California so it was a huge relief to see that everything was so well stocked. We loved it will be back We recommended it to everybody we know

Truly spectacular

Everything about this stay was amazing, the property owner was so helpful and responsive. The house is beautiful and cozy, the water is perfect for anyone, my kids and i loved everything about it. Completely turn key and beyond. I can’t say enough good things about my experience, normally I don’t book the same place twice, however, my family and i all agreed we must go back to this one! I would recommend this place to everyone.
