This uniquely shaped house in Del Mar is near the beach and has beautiful landscaping. It is also a single-family home converted into two rentals, with little consideration for quiet. This is a loud home not because of your next door neighbors, but because of the other vacationing family under the same roof, separated by only a few inches of drywall. I found the check-in process incredibly annoying. They called, texted, and emailed me repeatedly leading up to my check-in day. I had to acknowledge this rule and that rule and sign several forms. I couldn't get my check-in code until I verbally confirmed over the phone that I understood and would abide by all their house rules. At least, I thought, my co-occupants in the other unit would also be considerate and well informed about the rules. No. Every day I was here, I was awoken to the sounds of life from the family sleeping above and beside me. I called and was empathized with. It must have been so frustrating for my wife and me. However, half-hearted corporate apologies were all that could be conjured by the host. The disturbances continued for the rest of my stay, despite repeated notifications to the host. I fully expect this wasn't a case of neighbors from Hell; it was a single-family home converted for extra income. This home lets sound travel, as any other home does. Be aware that if you aren't renting both sides, you will be sharing your vacation with another family. In the end, although I have many of the same gripe
