50 acre lakefront pristine isolated acres near RUTTGER'S with great fishing, and you’re the ONLY ones! Kids LOVE it! Great bass, crappie, & pike fishing! Trails and tall trees with eagles, deer and more critters. Fishing is great-catch big pike and bass; sport shops 5 miles away. GOLF! We have a Fire pit, modern kitchen, beds + pull out couch; bathtub, private bath, and more! You will get away from it all and watch nice sunsets while the waves and loons lull you to sleep. Hear the loons call in the pine forest with a crystal clear lake; rowboat is here with PFD’s, oars, anchor, net, , (no motor); 1/8 mile driveway. 50 acres of forest! Kids LOVE it! Bait shops nearby. Right by Ruttger's OKTOBERFEST! We say sleeps 5, but if kids are under 5 feet, we have 3 mattresses to throw on the carpeting. We don' t have Wifi, but there are 2 restaurants 1 mile away or closer that do. No TV. Well, we have one, but it rarely gets any channels, air Antenna. Ruttger’s GOLF COURSE - “Jack’s 18” is right across the road!

Very comfortable, cozy, clean cabin with gorgeous views out every window. Both the deck and beach were great places to stretch out in lawn chairs and take in the views or just take a nap. Pine, oak and birch trees were silhouetted against bright orange sunsets and star-lit night skies, and the loons serenaded us as we retired from swimming and boating adventures on the lake. The towns close by had cool shops and a variety of excellent restaurants, and shop owners seemed super laid-back and friendly. Our accessible and communicative host left good directions about everything, including a taped arrow on the radio dial for the Twins baseball game!

We really enjoyed our time at Guy’s cabin in the woods. It’s located on a beautiful lake that is quiet and relaxing. The cabin is rustic and homey. Guy was extremely responsive and everything was well marked with notes and instructions throughout the cabin. He even had coffee available when we arrived, which we enjoyed in the mornings while sitting on the deck enjoying the environment. We will definitely stay here in the future. Thank you, Guy, for sharing your little slice of paradise with us!

Very friendly and communicative host. By the lake, away for highway makes it cozy getaway. Cabin has all the essential you would need for your stay.

Our group of 3 had a great stay at the Messenger cabin. The location was perfect for attending Oktoberfest at ruttgers. Very cute, tidy cabin. It could use a dusting and wipe down, but still felt clean. Our two pups absolutely loved the space to run around. Beautiful property!

Peaceful stay

Please is clean and quiet. Lovely to hear the lions in the morning. You will want to bring bug spray and long sleeves as it’s very wooded.

Can't attest to the "Big Fish", but the cabin is eclectically beautiful and full of family history and mementos. If you're a Felix Unger type, you may not understand the attraction of this property. But if you're an Oscar Madison type (meatloaf, pork and beans) you'll get it and you'll love it! Thank you, Guy, for your pictorial journey of a family in love with their cabin. Everyone should be so lucky.

Our weekend getaway

The place was extremely private when we went and weren’t bothered by anyone which was our goal. We used a provided paddle boat and caught several award winning size bass and it took us very little skill. The largest was at sunrise at the dock, believe that or not! The home had great hot water and was a little outdated but absolutely perfect for a cabin getaway. There were a few bugs but hello were in the woods on a lake house on the water. I loved it and the kids did also. I had some additional request and were approved without hesitation on check out time(amazing).
Large guy was 21 and second place 20.25

Amazing people and location

Wow, just wow! I want to start with people I interacted. The owner met us at the property and he is the nicest person in the World, I wish I meet more people like him in the day to day things. He welcomed and showed us the property, explained the location and things around, what can we do and so on. The property is clean and well stocked for anything you many need during your vacation. The view is amazing, the lake is amazing, very secluded and you feel isolated from the world which is great. The house itself is full of history which is another amazing experience we had. Now, what we didn't like- our vacation was too short and hope to come back next year! Mountain biking - 15 mins away, Lake, 30 seconds away, water activities - available close by as well. Want go shopping - a few towns close by as well Thank you very much for letting us stay at this place, we had amazing vacation thanks to you!

I wanted to find a cabin in the woods near a lake to take my two sons for a weekend. This is exactly what we were looking for. Secluded located on a private lake. My sons love fishing and the cabin has a dock along with a small boat which as perfect for fishing. We all had a great time and will be back next year. Thank you.

Where you'll catch fish, get wet, and hear the loons! Very clean lake, near bait shops, bars, and 18 hole golf course 1/2 mile away. Only you are on the property. 40 acres!

Solitude! Pine trees. Clean swimming water, big pike and bass! Near "BIR" raceway in Brainerd. There are bait shops and sport shops, 3 bars, 3 restaurants and 2 Ruttger’s golf courses within 5 miles.
