The Charming Tudor Cottage Apartment

Welcome to your secluded Santa Barbara retreat with its own entrance on the grounds of an architecturally-significant original 1920's Tudor cottage, an oasis of privacy and quiet, just minutes to State Street and its upscale shops, restaurants, wineries, coffee shops and bars. McConnells with its world famous ice cream is just a block away!

Head up ivy-lined stairs and find yourself on your own private patio, equipped with a cafe table, chairs and an Adirondack for relaxing. The perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine when you arrive while listening to the birds in the palm trees.

Enter into a large living room, with overstuffed sofa, coffee table, dining table and chairs, a huge selection of books, WiFi, TV and Air Conditioning. Eclectic furniture and decor blending East and West influences provide a soothing vibe.

The kitchen is fully equipped with whatever you might need to cook a gourmet meal, including a gas stove, Sub-Zero, toaster, All-Clad and microwave. A Keurig coffee maker is provided together with some pods to get you started.

When sleep beckons, the bedroom, also with air conditioner and ceiling fan, contains a modern queen bed with European style bedding. Huge built-in wardrobes and drawers plus period dressers and a hutch provide ample storage space. The en-suite bathroom is tastefully decorated. Towels and beach towels are provided.

Great for morning risers!

What a civilized experience! The host was lovely, they have a sweet well loved little dog, and they made sure everything was just right.

Quiet retreat in the heart of Santa Barbara

A sunny and beautiful cozy apartment with all the right amenities and kind and gracious hosts. We immediately felt right at home and very much enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful!

This craftsman-style Tudor home is small but well thought out and was great for my wife and I. High quality finishes, a relatively quiet side street location and fabulous hosts add up to a terrific short term rental experience. We walked just about everywhere from here, but many people would probably prefer to drive because the closest beach is 3.5 miles away.

Tudor Experience

We had a really wonderful time staying at this beautiful property. There was a fruit basket, flowers and coffee waiting. The hosts were very accommodating and we enjoyed visiting with them.

My month long stay here was ideal- The hosts, Ken and Liz were exceptional and went out of their way to compliment my visit with ease of communication and overall kindness . The apartment is hands down the best Vrbo I have stayed in as it relates to presentation and location

Look no farther!!

Some people say location, location and location. Well, this place has that as it is close to every single thing. You could walk to restaurants, stores, town, etc. or drive. But location isn’t everything at least in this case! This most quaint cottage is a lovely place to stay. I can hardly count the reasons why. First of all the hardwood and the beauty of the place is uuCharming and makes you feel right at home. The people are lovely, kind, considerate, and over-the-top accommodating. The place itself has everything you would need. The kitchen is well stocked and very comfortable to cook in. The balcony is an extra plus. Look no farther!!

Perfect place for a visit

This little guest house was adorable and in a wonderful area of town. Spotless in every way and had all the conveniences needed for my week stay. Liz met me when I arrived and showed me the place and was available throughout my stay if needed. I loved the decor and furnishings and the little porch area was so nice to enjoy the outside. Very private and quiet as well. A washer and dryer is available for guests too. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, large refrigerator with ice maker, microwave and coffee machine. I could have easily cooked meals since the kitchen is so well equipped. I was visiting my 3 week old granddaughter for the first time and it was so nice to come back and relax after a busy day with her and just minutes away from their place. I stay in VRBO’s quite a bit when I travel and this is one of the best. Thank you for sharing your beautiful guest house with me.

Hidden Gem

Immaculate Tudor style home was a mix of 20s charm and modern convenience. (Like a built in Sub-Zero fridge) and large library. The host Liz, balances complete privacy with immediate responsiveness to any questions that I had, while never hesitating to provide extras if needed. Had a wonderful stay for the month of April.

Great stay in Santa Barbara

Ken and Liz have a fantastic suite on their property that offers great access to all amenities in Santa Barbara. You are virtually 10-15 minutes from anything. The suite is quiet, well-appointed, and very comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to other visitors.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe how excellent Liz and Ken were to us and the pride they take in their home, apartment and grounds. Do yourself a real favor and enjoy a stay with them and the fantastic city of Santa Barbara and surrounding environs.

Cozy and comfortable

We loved staying in this charming space. The location was perfect for us; the hosts were very attentive, kind, and helpful; and the apartment was cozy and comfortable. We were particularly pleased to find the well-stocked kitchen and bathroom. Clearly Ken and Liz have made every effort to provide what they imagine each guest might need during their stay - from spices to paper goods.

Wonderful experience

This is a delightful place to stay. It is a charming apartment upstairs in a building separate from the main house, and it does require walking up stairs to access the door to the apartment. That was not an issue for us. The stairs were well lit and sturdy. The hosts Ken and Liz were outstanding and the space itself was first rate. Everything was high quality, from the bed to the furnishings to the filtered water and the shampoos and soaps provided in the bathroom. The location was excellent, just a couple minutes drive to the State Street promenade or about 10 minutes to the harbor or Stearns Wharf. Everything went smoothly and my expectations were exceeded. Liz provided helpful suggestions of places to go and things to do, and was a very pleasant hostess. Ken was available by text message for any information we needed as well. There was a balcony with a place to sit outdoors, and there was good privacy, as the property is surrounded by tall hedges, and the driveway has an electrically powered gate that is operated with a code. There is a sense of safety and privacy. We were very comfortable there. The kitchen is charming and functional. There is a washer and dryer available for use in a laundry room downstairs and the hosts provide detergent. All in all it was a wonderful experience and a great place to stay in Santa Barbara. I give it my highest recommendation.

Lovely Cottage and Hosts

The cottage is very well appointed. The kitchen has everything we needed to cook dinners, the bed is comfortable and the living room is specious. We also enjoyed the intimate outdoor porch. The hosts, Liz and Ken, were exceptionally gracious and responsive to our needs. They are definitely super hosts and provide an extra special touch!

A Very Proper Slice of Heaven

If you are searching for a slice of VRBO Heaven, look no further. Ken and Liz provide just that at Oak Cottage in Santa Barbara. We spent 2 months in their well-appointed, impeccably groomed cottage and would have gladly stayed on much longer. The very private location is without street noise, as it's nestled behind the main house, amongst natural vegetation; yet it's walking distance to all the fun energy along State Street and beyond. The interior layout of the cottage offers plenty of room for in-house cooking, lounging, and happy hour and morning coffee on the deck. The bed is especially comfy, and the expansive library offers a variety of literary delights that beg to be read when you are not out exploring the beautiful beach town of Santa Barbara. Ken and Liz are exceptional hosts. From the first "hello" to the last "goodbye," they made us feel welcome and made parting "sweet sorrow." We thank them for sharing this charming cottage with us. We'll be back as often as schedules allow.

Great Location

Liz and Ken were amazing!!! They were there when we got there and helped us get settled. They provided helpful information regarding eateries and local sites to see. They also provided little surprises every so often. The location is amazing. So easy to get to Lower Downtown and the 101.
