Om overnatningsstedet
Across from Saguaro National Park (East)
Wake up to the Sanoran Desert in the middle of 7.4 acres. Pour yourself a coffee and watch the sunrise over the Rincon Mountains and 550,000 acres of wilderness. Work out in the weight-training room before taking off for a day of exploring. Across the road are short, gentle hikes and multi-day backpacking trails up into the mountains. Do you bike? Tucson offers well over 100 miles of paved, mostly level bike paths in and around town and countless more challenging rides and unending single track trails. When you're tuckered out, head back to your casita for a hot shower, pour a drink, and sit on the West side of the house and watch the sunset over the Tucson Mountains. Put a match to the fire in the chiminea and you'll warm up as the desert cools down. A good night's sleep in the cozy casita and you'll be ready for more adventures!

We're retirees having fun exploring the world and meeting people.
Derfor valgte værten dette overnatningssted
We're across the road from Saguaro National Park (East) and most days we hop on our bikes and pedal 'the loop' through the park. It's a great way to experience the Park and get a good little cardio workout over a few low mountains. When the sun teases us to continue, we head out for a ride through the desert single tracks, or maybe head into quirky, historic Tucson. The ride into Tucson is mostly level and offers the benefit of diverse food. Muy sabor!
Prefer hiking or back-packing or even camping? Head off into the 550,000 acres of wilderness in Saguaro National Wilderness where no wheels are allowed. (Even the Park has to mule-pack supplies in for trail projects. Tell Harry, the mule-skinner, we said "Hi!".)

In the valley, surrounded by mountains, old Tucson is a Western Historical town with a modern University of Arizona city around it. Spend sunny days strolling along streets of adobe and settler homes, checking out museums, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants, indoor and outdoor music.
It has been designated a UNESCO site for gastronomy. "The food here tells a story that dates back 4,000 years." There's a lot of seafood here, since it's brought in fresh daily, from the Gulf of California. There are lots of restaurants of various types from food trucks to fine dining. Choose from Peruvian to Thai, Italian to Mexican, Ethiopian to fusion Asian.
On Sundays, bike the 50 mile loop around/through the city, stopping for lunch at Rillito Park for the Heirloom Farmers Market - 9:00AM to 1:00PM- to sample handmade foods from around the world, or grab some food and hit the trail!
Day trips by car are fun around here! Leisurely drives of an hour, more or less, will take you to places of Wild West legend, intertwined with art. We have a welcome pamphlet and books in the casita to give you ideas. Our favorites are "Roadside Geology of Arizona" (Halka Chronic) and "Roadside History of Arizona" (Marshall Trimble). Check them out at home or here and you'll be chomping at the bit to get out and explore. It's wilder and more real- with more fine art- than you might think!
