Great location for UT activities! We loved the uniqueness of the property and decor. Most important to us was a clean place with comfy beds, a bathroom, and working AC. All items checked. And a huge plus is all of the outlets. Plenty of places to plug in watches, phones, computers… We will be back for another stay in the future. There are a lot if swim meets year round at the UT pool!

Location, location, location! The property is an older home in a cute neighborhood close to many restaurants, grocery stores, the University, the airport, and much more. The host was friendly. There are quirks to this home but the charm is worth the stay. One downside is the hot and cold water in the shower are reversed which makes the hot water not so hot. The good things… charcoal grill is new, driveway parking, rooms are big, kitchen is mostly stocked.

It was a nice little house for me & my granddaughter to stay while in Austin for the Nightmare Before Christmas Trail Lights.

This home was cozy and I love a charming older home. It’s an easy drive to UT and made back and forth trips to the UT natatorium easy. I cooked most of our dinners in the home and it had most everything you need. I would recommend some hot pads (had to use the bbq tongs to get sheet pan out ) and one more hand towel. Parking was easy. We just parked on the street because the parking behind the house was a little too cozy for my Tahoe plus we were back and forth a lot. The street parking was easiest. Thank you to the host for wonderful communication and flexible check in time. I would definitely recommend this home and will come again.

Just what we were looking for.

The house and the area was just what we were looking for in our stay in Austin. Nice and quite close to the area we wanted to visit. Very cool little house. Had a really good time.

This property was completely misrepresented. I was warned of the age of the home and that there was an issue with the dining room floor in one place that had been covered with a rug and table. However, there were multiple major floor issues and the dining room was not able to be used. The bedrooms did not have the beds in which were stated on the Vrbo site. The closet in the bathroom had a broken glass know that could easily have cut my hand if I had not been looking. The one parking spot in the back was blocked by a large van from the person living in the back of the home. The property is completely unsafe. The age of the home was not the issue, there were major structural issues that made it unsafe. The home was not clean. I was not able to stay on the property and had to go to a hotel instead. Don’t rent this property!!! I’m still waiting on my reimbursement from Sept. 3.

Just so future renters can see, I sent you a notice of the age of the home and imperfections in the floor and you said that you didn't mind and agreed that the price had serious value given the size, condition and location. Then you decided to check out and I gave you a full refund. The beds are as advertised, there is no glass in the closet, and the house is cleaned professionally at each check out. There are two spots in the driveway, one for the front house and one for the garage apartment. The van was in the garage apartment spot and your spot was open and ready to use. This house has over 100 5 star reviews and is perfect for folks who like the insanely affordable price, charming historic house, and killer location. Those who prefer a hotel should opt for a hotel. Sorry again that we couldn't make you happy but I'm glad you found a hotel that fit your expectation better. I imagine you probably had to spend double or triple what you spent for this two bedroom, but for some folks spending more is better to get exactly what they want. Sending you all the best.

Lovely

Wonderful and charming home close to great restaurants and fun. Host was very responsive with questions before and during stay. Beds very comfortable. Loved the woodwork and historic charm of the home.

Cute little house with 2 bedrooms and sofa bed in living room and full kitchen. The location was great - walking distance to restaurants on Mainer. Just a bit loud at night being so close to I-35. Bring a tub drain stopper if you want to take a bath instead of a shower. Our host Maya answered messages and a phone call promptly. Great value!

Writers Retreat

If you are looking for sleek, modern accommodations, this is NOT the place for you. If you want to feel like you're walking into grandma's warm embrace, book a stay. This historic house is cute and full of personality. The hosts have done an outstanding job decorating -- minimalist so the craftsmanship shines through. The outdoor seating area is private or you can sit on the front porch and watch the world go by. The owners were wonderful. We loved our visit.

Close to UT, good AC, good value

We found this property to be what we needed for the weekend - we were there for graduation at UT and the house slept everyone we needed it to and was remarkably close to the University which made graduation a breeze. Sharing one bathroom can be a bit difficult but depending on your group dynamics you can make it work. We had a good time here and would stay again if we had some reason to for something happening at the University.

Moya informed me upon booking that it was an older but well maintained place and that some found it quirky. She also gave me the option of canceling the booking if that concerned me but we decided to proceed with the booking.Moya was right on all accounts, it is a quirky house but all appliances worked, the A/C worked, etc. and we didn't find the house itself to be a problem despite its age.However, there were four adults staying for four days/three nights and only one partial roll of toilet paper, three bath towels, and one hand towel. The bathroom closet, where we expected to find these supplies, was locked.On the second day, I sent Moya a message from the VRBO app requesting more toilet paper and more bath towels but she did not respond.On the third day, I sent a text message to the phone number listed as Moya's contact number in the VRBO app. Sometime later, I received a response inquiring how many towels we needed. I replied that we needed two bath towels and one hand towel.I foolishly interpreted her reply to mean someone would soon stop by with toilet paper and more towels.Wrong! By the time we checked out on the fourth day, no one had come by, we did not get any more toilet paper, and we did not get any more towels.
