This was a very nice place to stay within 30 minutes of Acadia National Park and some surrounding trails. We were at the park pretty much every day.

The Cottage house was very well equipped. Our host, Paul, was very accommodating. I would recommend the Cottage House to everyone.

Light at the End of the Tunnel was the perfect base for our week in Acadia with the kids. The location made it easy to get to everything — Sand Beach, Cadillac Mountain, Echo Lake, the carriage roads — without long drives eating into our days. The kitchen had everything we needed, right down to condiments, sandwich baggies, and a water filter — made packing lunches for our hiking and biking days effortless. Big windows looked out over the forest, and the property felt quiet and private, a great retreat after a full day outside. Clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Would absolutely stay again on our next Acadia trip.

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely come back. Our host was kind and helpful without ever being intrusive. He suggested we do our grocery shopping in Ellsworth before getting to the island, which turned out to be great advice. He waited for us in the rain when we arrived and opened the garage in case we wanted to park inside. His activity recommendations were spot on, too.The apartment itself was spotless, bright, quiet, and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked down to the basics like cooking oil. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had a great shower and tub plus plenty of towels. Having laundry, and plenty of detergent, was a real convenience given our frequent hikes. In the evenings, the smart TV made it easy to connect our own streaming services.The property is surrounded by trees and feels wonderfully peaceful. On a clear night the stars were beautiful. We loved being on the quieter side of the island, just minutes from Southwest Harbor with easy access to Northeast, Bar, and Bass Harbors. A perfect home base for Acadia. Thank you, Paul and Claudia!

Nice visit to Acadia

Perfect location to stay when you go to Acadia National Park. About 20 minutes to shopping and restaurants at Bar Harbor. The unit is above a garage, is clean, was stocked with general essentials: toilet paper, paper towel, soap, shampoo, etc … beds were comfortable and several hikes at Acadia are just down the street less than 5 minutes away.

The Carriage house was a perfect location to enjoy all areas of the island. It is tucked in near the woods, quiet and incredible place to sit and star gaze. The beauty and incredible mountains of Acadia National Park were so close and seemed to have differing climbs, walks, and sites for all to enjoy. Comfortable and clean with the host providing everything needed to make us feel at home for our stay. Short drive for us to enjoy many wonderful restaurants and walking around Bar Harbor shops. Our first time in Maine and it was awesome!

Nice place

Very clean, Paul was great.. beautiful area. Could use a pot large enough to cook pasta, etc. Other than that the home was perfect for our needs. Great location for easy access to all parts of the island.

Perfect location

Initially we had wanted to stay in Bar Harbor but it was too expensive. This place was located near great hiking and a beach. We had easy access to other parts of Mt Desert island. Paul was a great host and provided all the information about the area. Places to eat, hike, swim and even grocery shop. He was thorough about his rental. It was super clean and comfortable. It had anything you needed.

Absolutely wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Acadia National Park. The property had everything we needed and was a great location for everything on mount desert island. You can even walk to the Acadia Mtn trail from the house. Acadia was wonderful and definitely hope to return soon and if possible would stay here again. Paul, our host, was wonderful. Greeted us at check with all his knowledge of the island. Very helpful with what we wanted to do and when we had a hiccup with our car during our stay he was extremely helpful and overly accommodating. Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation!!!!!

My husband and I stayed for a week at the Carriage House, and we absolutely loved our experience. The location was perfect for hiking in Acadia National Park, with restaurants nearby and lots of charming small towns within a 20-minute drive to explore.The house was very well equipped with everything we needed. As another guest mentioned, there were condiments, napkins, cookware, baggies, and so much more. There was even an Alexa!Every morning, we enjoyed our coffee outside while taking in the tall pine trees surrounding the property. In the evenings, we loved sitting outside and watching the stars. The garage apartment had lots of windows overlooking the forest, which made it feel peaceful and connected to nature.Paul had thoughtfully left several pages of recommendations, complete with maps, for places to eat and things to do. The best part of the Carriage House, though, was Paul himself. He was quick to respond to any questions we had and took time to meet with us when we arrived to go over things to do and see in Acadia National Park.We would love to stay at the Carriage House again and would definitely recommend it to others. It was a wonderful place to stay, and we are already looking forward to returning!
