Get ready to relax in this brand new 2-bedroom log cabin in Somesville, Mount Desert. This cozy retreat features 2 queen beds, 2 bathrooms with a shower in the main bathroom, and a lovely open plan great room for gathering after a fun-filled day in Acadia National Park and additional tv/game room with a full size sofa bed. Stay connected with wireless WiFi, stay comfortable with heating and AC, and take care of laundry with a washing machine and dryer. Hair dryer and iron are also provided for your convenience. Enjoy your time on Mount Desert Island in our terrific log cabin just a 7-10 minute walk to Long Pond where you will enjoy a protected swimming area and kayak and canoe rental.

This beautifully furnished cozy log cabin newly built in 2024 has all new everything! The rooms are very private and each have a different feel; tucked in with wood walls and native woodland within view or open and expansive views to the lower level back terrace and meadow. The downstairs bedroom has a private entry accessed through the professional landscaped native woodland gardens. The great room, oversized deck and firepit/council ring are perfect places for family gatherings after a long day of playing in Acadia National Park. Come enjoy a quintessential Maine experience and stay in an ultra quiet haven close to all Mount Desert Island has to offer. New amenities at rates that are competitive with other nearby rentals.

Amenities: A washing machine and dryer are available for use, as are all kitchen needs. Kids games and puzzles are also available. Enjoy morning coffee or an afternoon beverage on the large deck or s'mores by the campfire after a day of hiking in Acadia. Ample private parking with landscape lighting for safety and ambience.

Closets and/or clothes storage and luggage racks available for your use. Starter supply of paper products, garbage bags, and laundry detergent supplied.

Great cabin in a perfect location. The cabin had everything we needed. We started going to MDI to camp many years ago but started renting a house the last few years with our kids. This was the best place we’ve rented and plan to go back. We like the quiet side of the island and had a great week hiking/swimming/fishing/canoeing and relaxing at the house. Firepit is a huge plus.

Perfect little cabin in the heart of Mount Desert. Central to everything and an easy drive to all the sites on the Island. The host responded to all our questions in a timely manner. Directions for our stay and check out spelled out clearly. The house was fantastic, cute and cozy. They thought of everything we could need right down to throw blankets on the couch. I really loved morning coffee on the deck and fires in the evening. We feel very lucky to have found this little oasis in Maine.

Very clean and new cabin. Wonderful deck area with gorgeous landscaping. Well equipped kitchen. Great location. Overall a wonderful experience. The bathroom shower stall is quite small. That is the only small concern. The living area downstairs is very spacious and nice. Thank you so much for a fun vacation.

Thank you for your feedback on our cozy cabin. We are sure to check inventory of items in the cottage and supply new linens each season. Happy you enjoyed this! Because we couldn’t change the engineering plans once the cabin was under construction, we committed to the standard 3’x3’ stall shower. An outdoor shower is being conceived for the near future - this will have a much larger ceiling!! 😀 Hope to see you in your travels in the future!

Beautiful little cabin, still had the new smell and very clean. It was the perfect location to easily access all parts of the island. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood.

Centrally located on MDI with wonderful privacy but minutes from everything! Absolutely beautiful cabin and surroundings with comfortable furnishings and everything you need for your stay. And dealing with Bobbie was a pleasure!

This cabin was absolutely amazing! It was so cozy, beautifully decorated, had everything we needed and was in a very convenient location for visiting all parts of Acadia National Park. It was also a pretty short drive from Bar Harbor, as well. Everything was so clean when we arrived and it just felt like home. My husband and I and our two girls (ages 8 and 11) stayed for 1 week. Our kids had the whole downstairs to themselves with their own bedroom, bathroom, living room and tv. They loved playing the games that are kept there at the cabin. The outside of the cabin is just as fabulous. It is surrounded by beautiful landscaping, lots of trees and some deer here and there. There was a place for us to have camp fires, a beautiful deck to relax on and a grill. The owner of this property is wonderful, as well. Very responsive to messages and stopped by to meet us. I have no complaints whatsoever about this gem. If we lived closer (we live in Illinois) we would be coming here all the time. HIGHLY recommend!

The best cabin on MDI

The cabin had everything we needed, the layout of the cabin is perfect.We have been coming to MDI for many years and this is the best stay there,we have had.Nice place to come home to, after a long day out in Acadia National Park.Thank You Bobbie for all of your help during our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fox Den. The cabin is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and nicely decorated. After long days of hiking and exploring Acadia it was nice to be able to relax on the deck and watch the deer and turkeys in the backyard. The neighborhood was quiet and I enjoyed a few walks down to the water or up the road to Beech Hill Farm. We had the pleasure of meeting Bobbie and found her to be a friendly host willing to provide whatever we might need to make our stay enjoyable. We look forward to returning to Fox Den in the future.

The cabin was exactly as described. It was exceptionally clean and wonderful. Everything we needed was in the kitchen, the bed was comfy, and the decor was lovely and appropriate. The outside space was great and perfect morning coffee, afternoon downtime, or and meals and conversation in the evening. The location was ideal for us. We spent most of our time on the quiet side or in the park itself. Still, the benefits of the cabin far outweigh the commute to Bar Harbor. We plan to return!!

Amazing Maine Cabin

The pictures don't do justice for this wonderful cabin. From the minute you walk in, you're impressed with how clean and well-organized everything is. The cabin is bigger than it looks in the pictures. It's new and you almost feel like it's your second home. After a long day of hiking in Acadia National Park, we were always excited to get back to the cabin. It's close to Southwest Harbor & hiking trails. Bar Harbor is about 25 minutes away.Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from using some of the outside amenities (deck, grill, etc.). If you visit at other times of the year, guests will love the cabin.If you're looking for a great little cabin in Maine, this place is perfect for you!

Perfect!

We have rented many properties for vacations over the years. Fox Den cabin was by far the cleanest and best stocked cabin we could have ever asked for! We had everything we could have possibly needed and everything was in excellent condition. The beds and couches were so comfortable. Outside was a dream and expertly landscaped. It was so nice to sit out on the beautiful wood deck and watch the deer and turkeys in the backyard area. It was so peaceful and serene. Huge shoutout to Bobbi for being such an amazing host from the very beginning. I have some medical issues that require me to travel with medical supplies. Bobbi was so kind and helpful with the shipment and delivery of these supplies to the cabin. She made it so easy for us with excellent communication before and during our trip. She even stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our trip! I would 100% stay here again and will recommend to friends and family for future rentals.

Bobbie’s place was my favorite VRBO yet and I’ve probably rented 30 homes across the US and Europe. Clean as a whistle, so quiet except for morning doves, and quick easy responses from the owner for all my questions. The house was stocked with everything we needed from extra blankets down to a carrot peeler. I highly recommend.

I moved to Maine over 30 years ago, thinking it might be a temporary stay. I never left. Nature is one of the most important things to me, and Acadia offers more than I can possibly keep up with in my spare time. In the middle of summer, I still am able to hike without seeing another soul, go for a bike ride at any time of day, kayak in any number of lakes or coves, and swim at the end of a long day. As a landscape designer, I see the beauty of nature and capture that in my work. And for those days when I just want to get away, I find solace in the fact that I can walk out my back door and step into Acadia National Park.

The sister cottage to Fox Den, Ripples Cottage, is located next door. Ripples Cottage has been so highly sought after over the years that we decided to build Fox Den next door as both an independent rental and also as a potential overflow for larger parties wishing to be close together. Tastefully and professionally landscaped spaces divide the spaces in an optimal way with screening, but allow easy access to one another, if needed.

Derfor er dette overnatningssted unikt

Fox Den is located on a quiet side street with little traffic. One of the things my family and I love about staying there is the solitude of the space. Being set back from the road even when cars do pass by, we feel protected. We also love the large deck which provides a warm sunny space for morning coffee and an enjoyable sunset viewing area in the early evenings. The perimeter path around the property is enjoyable to walk and viewing wildlife in the back meadow can be exciting. The loons call to each other between the three lakes and the owls serenade us most evenings. It is a true home away from home feeling for us when we have the luxury of staying in our own rental.
