This home had so much going for it. The location was ideal — just steps from the beach, making it easy to walk out the door and be in the sand within minutes. The garage was well-stocked with beach gear including coolers, which was a great bonus. Inside, the house was cozy and comfortable, with very comfortable beds and thoughtful touches like ceiling fans in the bedrooms, hooks on the back of bedroom doors, and a lovely outdoor space.Unfortunately, our stay was disrupted when we discovered a rodent problem four days in. We were aware there had been a problem in January (based on a review), but the owners insisted it had been taken care of and it had been due to the unusually cold weather in January. After discovering a half eaten muffin in the kitchen I contacted the property owners and asked that they get their pest control person to the house as soon as possible. They were able to get pest control on-site within hours — even on a Sunday. That said, we didn't feel comfortable remaining in the home once we found a large rat in the trap that had been set. We ended up relocating for our final two nights. It was a real shame, because this was otherwise a very nice property. Our experience with VRBO's customer support was frustrating — they were unhelpful until we were able to provide photographic evidence of the rodent. Based on that experience, we won't be booking through VRBO again.
