Hike The Dunes Walk To Beach and National Park! 5BR, 2 Bath and Game Room

Just a short stroll to Lake Michigan’s sandy beach and steps away from the Indiana Dunes National Park, this big, comfy mid-century vibe entire home. Enjoy the best location in wild, wonderful Miller Beach, just 40 miles outside Chicago. Close to Methodist Hospitals, St.Marys Hospital, Porter Regional Hospital and Franciscan Hospital, BP Refinery, and all Steel Mills.

Our renovated mid-century getaway offers tons of vintage charm and all the modern comforts you crave. Perfect for small corporate groups, remote jobs, couples, family and friends, this is home base for exploring the Indiana Dunes National Park, the City, and Miller Beach all year 'round.

The space is entirely all yours during your stay.
The lodge is generously spread over two levels:

Upstairs, the vaulted ceilings, open living/dining area and charming eat-in kitchen invite your group to relax together. Three big bedrooms (including a kids’ bunk room) and a full bath are just down the hall.

Downstairs, enjoy a well-stocked TV/game room large enough for family Ping-Pong tournaments AND a casual second ‘picnic’ kitchen with grilling area right outside. Two more bedrooms(one with a dedicated work space) another bath, a tucked-away reading nook and a convenient laundry room complete the space.

Connecting the whole house is an open staircase and a vaulted entryway with a beach closet stocked with towels, coolers and carts for an easy day in the sun.

The backyard is uniquely terraced, and features a gas grill, a family picnic table, and a covered outside dining nook lit by Emerson Lights overlooking a wild, wooded dune and deep ravine. It’s like hanging out in a tree-house up in the forest canopy!

Our lodge's vibe is bright and comfortable, with a casual mid-century charm. Wherever possible, we've kept the house's nostalgic 1960s features intact, and we’ve filled it with vintage furnishings, decor, books and games.

But it’s also fully updated with central air, all new appliances (including a dishwasher and a sleek front-loading laundry pair), excellent bedding, a strong WIFI signal and a TV with Netflix and voice remote.

Other things to note
This is a split-level home with stairs. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for folks with impaired mobility.

One of the bedrooms is furnished with bunk beds intended for kids. The other four bedrooms can accommodate guests of all ages.

Great house

This was a fantastic area to stay which is centrally located. We took the train into Chicago (station only 5 mins away.) We liked being within walking distance of the beach. This is also a very quiet area. We liked the vintage vibe too.

Home owner was very quick at answering questions about the area! Short walk to a beautiful beach! Great, friendly, safe neighborhood. Lots of space in the house and activities for the time we were in the house. Sand dunes are incredible and the sand is more fine than most popular beaches! Took an Uber to Chicago for a couple of ball games but there is a close train if we wanted to take that. Definitely recommend

We had a group of 12 and this was a wonderful vacation home. It had a lot of character and while it was dated, it was charming and clearly loved and well taken care of. There were many small touches that were great (beach carts available, some basics in kitchen/bathroom) and the kids LOVED the ping pong table/game room downstairs. The location was perfect for us - we enjoyed walking to the beach and it was a very short drive to the National Park section we wanted to visit as well as the Indiana Dunes State Park. We would stay here again.

Wonderful Multi-Family Vacation Spot

This house was a great place for our three families to convene and explore Indiana Dunes National Park. Everything we could have wanted was available in the VRBO. We cooked our dinners in the kitchen and brought no supplies other than food with us. While 12 of us stayed in the house, it never felt crowded and our kids were entertained by the ping pong table and other nice surprises. We had a wonderful time exploring the area and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

the stay was great and space was great. It was difficult getting there with snow but otherwise it was like a winter wonderland. The app did not notify her when we confirmed so did not get details for the place until day before so make sure to directly contact owner to get details if vrbo app does not forward them to you.

Great place!

We needed a place close to the lake, and within a reasonable distance from Chicago, this fit the bill perfectly! The house was as described, and has a fun retro theme. We really enjoyed the ping pong table, such a fun addition! We only had 4 of us on this stay, but this house would be excellent for a larger family too! One bedroom had a comfy memory foam mattress, the others upstairs were VERY thin and stiff and need some memory foam toppers or something to make them tolerable. Other than that, the place had everything we were looking for and we would stay here again.

Great Sand Dunes VRBO

Our family spent Labor Day weekend at Indiana Dunes in Gary Indiana. The house was a great find! It was the perfect size to sleep our family of 10. The house was safe for the kids which ranged 3-7. The walk from the house to the beach was not far at all. The buggy’s provided in the house made it easy to transport everything we needed for the day. We highly recommend Tiny’s in Gary. Short drive from the house. Excellent food, drinks, and coffee. If we ever go back to Gary we would definitely stay here again.

Great place to meet family for thanksgiving

We had 3 generations of family ages 11+, a total of 10 people, at the home for Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful stay for us and we all loved it. The dining room table even had enough seating for all 10 of us to dine together! The home is very clean and in excellent condition. The teens in our group loved the ping pong and chess board. We enjoyed walking to the beach daily and hiking along the shore. The neighbors were all extremely friendly and we met a lot of dogs out for walks. Our only complaint would be that the lighting provided was too dim in the long winter evenings to work on the craft projects we had brought along.

We moved from Chicago to Miller Beach in 2001 because we love the area and the community of creative people. We are beach people. You will find us on the beach all summer. We love to jet ski, paddle board and cycle. During the winter, we travel to the mountains to snowboard. We love to host guests, make new friends and show people a great time. We want to share our unique little diamond in the rough beach town with you. It will be an adventure.
