Enjoy a private wilderness getaway and unwind on a beautiful working farm. Your private cottage is located on Putney Mountain in Brookline VT. This charming dwelling offers an outdoor grill on a large deck with field and forest views. Enjoy watching the cows and sheep in nearby pastures, and the sun setting on nearby mountains. The space is radiant floor heated in the winter and VT cool in the summer. Electric car charging on request is available. This location is perfect for nature lovers, with a local rivers and miles of trails nearby for hiking and mountain biking. Stratton Mt and Mt Snow are only a half hour away and nearby lakes and rivers are perfect for canoeing and kayaking.

We loved the cows and sheep outside the cottage. This is a great place for folks who like to hike, go birdwatching, and enjoy nature.

I loved this place. Sometimes character wins over everything else. We stayed here at the tail end of our 10 day, 3 state vacation and we were tired. This place was perfect for just relaxing. I loved having the cows and sheep around making their noises sporadically throughout the day. It was also well stocked and had a very freindly owner.

The Swing House is a great place to disconnect and rest. We stayed here during our Son’s College drop off and orientation. We loved seeing the cows and sheep roam while taking in great views of the sun setting and stars shining. We will be back to stay for parents weekend at Landmark College!

Quiet, peaceful cabin in a lovely location

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas getaway here. Beautiful setting with mountain views and truly spectacular stars at night - there was so little light pollution we could even make out the shape of the milky way! And the silence was absolute - so peaceful! Sara and Johnny were very responsive and helpful hosts!

Such an enjoyable stay!

We really enjoyed our stay here! Sara and Johnny were phenomenal hosts. The house was very clean and comfortable. The area and fall foliage were beautiful! We got to participate in feeding the farm animals in the morning which was so cool to see. Great for any age!

Fantastic little retreat spot

The location is idyllic, the hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and the actual house is really clean, neat and serene. I'll definitely be coming back!

Great Stay, Fantastic Host, Fun Ski Trip.

The property was perfect for our family of 4. Comfortable inside and the grounds and view were beautiful. Little town with a great market and restaurants 8 minute away and 40 minutes from 2 great skiing options. Johnny was a great host. He invited us to meet and feed the animals one morning and gave us a tour of his art studio. He could not of been more accommodating and friendly with our family and dog. We hope to go back.

Comfortable and relaxing

Cute cottage in the middle of a working farm. Perfect setting for Vermont. Could use more seating in living room but it was fine for the 2 of us. Overall we enjoyed it and will definitely consider again for next fall.

Amazing property with sweeping views

Amazing cozy cottage set in a beautiful agricultural setting. Turn off the paved road, ramble up the mountain and turn into this lovely space with sweeping views and good neighbors (the cows and sheep). Be sure this rural space will help you relax and recharge. Lovely hosts, clean and organized space.

Very cute place

The home had a lot of charm. Very comfortable beds, clean, on a cool farm and dog friendly. Johnny was extremely helpful with any info we needed. Would def stay there again. It also had everything we needed to cook our meals. We used it to go to MT Snow which was a quick 25 minute ride.

Fabulous spot

We had a great stay at this charming farm cottage. Great location to explore VT, NH, and MA. Sara and Johnny are great hosts and genuinely nice people. They are very attentive without being intrusive. The view from the back deck is beautiful with amazing sunsets. Being greeted by the cows and sheep in the morning was really fun for us.

Cozy, peaceful getaway in beautiful setting!

We spent two nights at the Swing cabin and absolutely loved it! The hosts, Sara and Johnny, are super friendly and attentive, happy to help you with anything you might need/questions you have. The views from the cabin are gorgeous! On Saturday we snowshoed up Putney Mountain Rd and went to the Fat Crow for a delicious dinner! We brought our dog along with us and she also had an excellent time. Johnny asked if we wanted to feed the cows on Sunday morning however we had to leave early, hoping we will be back again soon to feed the cows! Thanks for a lovely weekend Sara and Johnny!

Perfect!

Johnny and Sara were fabulous hosts! We stayed at their guest house for a weekend of skiing and left with so many more memories and new friends. To start, their cottage is the perfect place for nature seekers. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for the weekend. There was more than enough room for my husband, two kids, dog, and myself. Traffic was terrible on the Friday that we left and got there late. Johnny was right there in the driveway to welcome us! Waking up on Saturday morning was so peaceful with the scenery. We woke up thinking we were just going to go skiing - had no idea the adventures that were ahead. Johnny was working with his excavator and knew my 7 year old son would want to see it. Not only did my son get to see it, Johnny sat with him in it and showed him how it worked! That is something that he will never forget. Then the kids helped feed the sheep and cows! My kids were in their glory, as were my husband and I. We then went skiing at Stratton, which was great and came back to Johnny and Sara asking if we wanted to hang by the fire. Before leaving on Sunday, we got to explore a little bit of their 200 acre property - the views are definitely something that cannot be explained. We are already planning on when we can go back! My kids keep talking about it and saying that was the best place we have been to and that they will always remember that. The only thing I will do next time is bring our hiking boots! Thanks again, Johnny and Sara, for an amazing time and many memories made.

What a lovely stay! Picturesque and true to Vermont. Morning coffee on the deck watching the fog lift from the valley was a highlight. Our hosts were fantastic and extremely considerate from booking to checkout. Would definitely stay again.

Our favorite stay in Vermont!

The location is beautiful and convenient to multiple hiking trails. We loved watching the sunset on the deck and the atmosphere is incredibly relaxing. Johnny and Sara are wonderful, welcoming hosts and we enjoyed getting to know them and seeing their incredibly property. The house has all that you’ll need for a comfortable farmstay! Even on hot days it cools off at night for comfortable sleeping. You won’t regret staying here!

Very nice, remote, and peaceful

My husband and I really enjoyed our long weekend stay. Johnny and Sara were great. We were immediately welcomed as we drove in. The guest home had a list of local restaurants and other places to visit, but Johnny was also very helpful recommending restaurants and a grocery store in the area. The house was very clean and although there was no air conditioning, the house was cool at night with the windows open and the fan going. The wraparound deck was an amazing place to watch the sunset and see the cows and sheep on the property. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for some peace and quiet.

Rest and relaxation

If you want peace and quiet, this is the place. Perfect, friendly hosts always willing to share their experience. Time stood still during our visit. At night, the fireflies and stars were brilliant!We plan to visit again.

Wonderful Fall Weekend

Our stay at Johnny & Sara's was lovely. The cabin is charming and full of Johnny's amazing artwork. The radiant floor heating was just right for the chilly October mornings and the views from the property were so nice ! Johnny and Sara were generous with their time, showing us a bit of their own 200 year old house as well as another property they are fixing up. We highly recommend the cabin to those looking for a quiet, Vermont retreat!

Sister weekend

We 3 sisters had a wonderful mini-reunion weekend at the cottage. Idyllic setting, beautiful views, comfortable beds, great decor, cute farm animals, and great hosts! What more could you ask for? (Be aware that the kitchen is a kitchenette, with a mini-refrigerator with virtually no freezer space. It is very well-equipped for its size, however.)

We had a great stay and Johnny was a gracious host. Beautiful view from the deck and lots of great hiking nearby. Bottle feeding the lambs in the evening was an unexpected bonus. We'd definitely return for another stay in the future.
