Vintage River Cottage på 3 hektar med udsigt over floden Okatie. Ideelt beliggende halvvejs mellem Savannah, Beaufort og Bluffton ... et let kørsel til Savannah / Hilton Head lufthavnen. Lowcountry på sit originale bedste. Gamle levende egetræer, camellia skove, magnolier, en perfekt beliggenhed hvorfra man kan udforske Lowcountry. Dette sommerhus er det originale hus på ejendommen kendt som Cedar Bluff, ejere bor i store hus skridt væk. Stadig privat og stille.

Sommerhuset deler ejendommen med ejerne, der bor i stort hus i nærheden. Sommerhuset har en vidunderlig afskærmet veranda, trægulve, loftsventilatorer overalt. Hytten stammer fra 1925 og har masser af karakter, alle fornødenheder plus nogle, men husk, at det er næsten 100 år gammelt, så hvis du leder efter noget nyt og moderne, er dette ikke noget for dig. Hvis du vil opleve Lowcountry, som det plejede at være og nogle steder stadig er, er dette dit sted.

Ejerne tilbyder også en lille bjælkehytte i Western North Carolina nær Cashiers, Glenville, Sylva, VRBO # 300192

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Isabella was a wonderful host and went out of her way to make sure everything was as we needed it. The place was so comfortable and a great view of the marsh. We are definitely going back again.

So much history and great location

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Okatee cottage. The owners are very gracious and helpful. The history of the house and the location is just amazing. Loved sitting out on the dock and seeing the dolphins. The place was very clean and had everything we needed. Thank you again.

Quiet lovely cabin on the river

Very nice property. Loved sitting on the screen porch and listening to and watching the birds. Owners were very accessible but not intrusive. Plenty of space and amenities. A quiet retreat in a busy part of the country!Accessible to many nature areas and interesting towns.Would recommend.

Okatie Vacation

The cottage was a great place to stay. Centrally located to Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beauford. The cottage was well equipped, roomy, comfortable and very clean. The front, sceen in porch was a great spot for morning coffee or happy hour. The hosts, Isabella and Jerry were wonderful, always ensuring that everything was top-notch. Would definitely stay there again.

Best Back Porch!

Had a wonderful time staying at Okatee Cottage. It was nestled between Oaks and evergreens along the banks of the Okatie River. We spent most of our time on the back porch enjoying the view and serenity of the cabin and surrounding area. A great place to take walks!

A beautiful Quaint Cottage and Equally WONDERFUL owners

My husband and I needed a short term rental while awaiting moving into our new home on Callawassie Island. The location was ideal and Isabella and Jerry could not have been more accommodating! The cottage setting is LOVELY and the antique furnishings simply added to it's appeal for me. The kitchen was very well appointed as well. We highly recommend this great property and wonderful hosts!

Great month on The Okatie

Wonderful location in a very comfortable, character-filled large “cabin”. A treat to watch the many, many camellias bloom and the azaleas begin to show themselves. Our hosts could not have been more helpful, friendly and responsive to our questions The cottage on the Okatie is a marvelous base from which to explore the “low country”- Savanah, Beaufort and the sea islands!

This cottage is very quaint and a historical preserved landmark. It turned 100 this year and has been beautifully preserved. The owners built their main home on the same property and are amazing. They are in close proximity to the cottage but give you your privacy and space. We had an unusually long stay of almost 1 month and were very comfortable for the entire stay. I cannot say enough good things about it. Not fancy or modern but very quaint and comfortable!!! Thank you Jerry and Izzy for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!

Peaceful but still convenient.

Lovely, historic cottage in a peaceful location on the river. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. We loved the very large screened porch. With traffic it was about 20 min to outlets and historic downtown Bluffton and about 30 min to Hilton Head. The hosts made communication easy. We’d certainly stay again.

Charming and relaxing!

My husband and I stayed at the Okatee Cottage for 3 nights and it felt like home. The cottage is full of charm and beautifully maintained as well as very clean. The view of the Okatie River is lovely and the owners are happy to have you use their dock to sit out by the water. Our 2 dogs loved the large property! The owners, Isabelle and Jerry, live on the property and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They really know how to treat their guests!

A bit of paradise on the river

A magical place on a lovely tidal river with egrets flying & crickets at night. My husband and I along with our dog enjoyed walking to the pier, watching sunsets, & exploring the 5 acres of land. We also walked up the road and met the neighbors, who were friendly and helpful. Frankly, it’s hard to put into words the peace and beauty of this home. We can’t wait to return!

Very Comfortable. We wish we could stay longer.

Isabella and Jerry are great hosts. They live in the main house about 50 feet away, yet we had complete quiet and privacy. The cottage is roomy. There are several places to sit and relax: we can sit on the back porch and watch the beautiful view of the river or sit on their cushy living room couch by the fire. Our black lab had plenty room to romp around. While we were there, we had trouble with the washer, and Isabella replaced it in 2 days. We would definitely stay again.

We came to find the ‘Vintage River Cottage’, as we were looking for an alternative to staying in a hotel for over a week.. we would be in town to help my parents as they begin a difficult life transition. We wanted a place to unwind and decompress at the end of the day. This cottage hit ALL the marks: quiet, comfortable, peaceful, and, if possible, I would say, nurturing for the soul. I would describe it as ‘the grandparents’ cottage’; more for the historical feel of the cottage. However, the cottage is outfitted with functional, comfortable furniture and homey decor (lots of beautiful artwork, within, too). This was so much more than the usual rental places we have stayed in before.. almost like it was their second home. If you are looking for something quaint and quirky (and historical- as the cottage is 100 years old!), you will not be disappointed!
Cottage is surrounded by huge live oaks and pines. Tons of bird song, as well.

Owners are native to the area. He grew up on the May River in Bluffton and is in real estate in the area. She grew up in Savannah, is an independent fine arts consultant and also works with the local historic foundation.

Derfor valgte værten dette overnatningssted

The cottage was our original vacation home when we lived in the downtown historic district of Savannah, Georgia. Upon making our property on the Okatie our permanent home, we make the cottage available to guests who would enjoy 'old Carolina' or 'old Lowcountry'....It is charming, has all the necessities, not too many fancy bells and whistles, but many amenities such as 'old trees, pristine tidal river, one of the Lowcountry's best screened porches for sitting , reading or sippin'.

excellent location equi-distant between historic downtown Savannah (1733) and historic Beaufort (1711) and Bluffton....15 minutes off the bustle of I-95. quiet riverfront residential area, 3+ acres.
