Great location, walking distance to downtown Chesterton which had an excellent ice cream shop and other restaurants. Easy driving distance to different parts of Indiana Dunes National Park. Host had great communication before and throughout the visit and the house had all the amenities we needed.

This home is very convenient to Indiana Dunes. It is stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. The stairs are steep and my 14yr old did fall once so make sure you are able to navigate stairs. Able bodied and non-clumsy people will have no problem. You can walk to get a delicious Gyro just around the corner. The train didn't bother us at all, It is an old house but it is fixed up nice. Pretty quiet for sitting right in a town. Outside patio area is nice. We are country folks but we felt safe.

Thank you for such a warm and detailed review! We're so glad The Dunes Home worked well for your group and that the kitchen, patio and location all hit the mark. The gyro spot around the corner is a local favorite — great pick! We're sorry to hear about your teenager's fall on the stairs — we hope they're okay! We're looking into adding grip tape and improving the handrail to make them safer for all guests. We appreciate you flagging that. We'd love to welcome you and your family back anytime — country folks are always welcome here! 😄 — Eddi & the Sauve Stays Team

The upstairs gets really hot even with the portable/c unit provided 2nd tv room not very useful due to heat. Some items in description not available like personal toiletries left as notes and no travel high chair. Also no gazebo. But a plus is they have beach toys to use and the backyard is huge. Kitchen stocked to cook. The host is also great with communication. Location is PERFECT. Neighborhood is safe and quiet

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review and the 5 stars! We're really glad the location, kitchen, backyard and beach toys hit the mark for your stay. You've raised some great points that we're actively addressing — the upstairs heat is something we're working on with a better cooling solution, and we're updating the listing to accurately reflect current amenities including the toiletries, travel high chair and gazebo so future guests have the right expectations from the start. We appreciate your grace in highlighting the positives alongside the areas for improvement. We hope to welcome you back and give you an even better experience next time! — Eddi & the Sauve Stays Team

Everything was as described! House was in a great location (Go across the parking lot to George's for lunch if you're hungry). Easy access to all highways and the train into Chicago.Beds were comfortable. Everything worked as it should. Kind of wish there was a tv in the bedroom and the couch was kinda lumpy, but nothing that would make me change my rating.Overall was a great stay and we will definitely be back when we come to visit family.
