Mariposa at Academy Place

Academy Place Mariposa is located around the beautiful Academy Place Courtyard in downtown Crested Butte, Colorado. A new addition to Crested Butte vacation rentals, Academy Place has luxury finishings, large and updated appliances, and beautiful rentals for an ideal vacation. Mariposa is located very near bus stops to access both Mt. Crested Butte and RTA routes, as well as being extremely walkable to Elk Avenue’s restaurants and shops just a few short blocks away. Academy Place is just between the main street and the more commercial area with the grocery store and movie theater, making it an ideal location for both privacy and accessibility.

Mariposa is a cottage, meaning you will have the entire home for yourself! It is a three bedroom, ideal for families with younger kids or those happy to use bunk beds. Upon entry, Mariposa boasts a fully equipped kitchen with large appliances and cookware in addition to an expansive living area, dining table, and powder room for convenience. Upstairs you will find the primary bedroom with a King bed and ensuite bathroom. The primary bathroom has a large soaking tub and steam shower. Going downstairs to the lower level, you will find the other King bedroom and the bunk room with four twin beds configured as two bunk beds. Both downstairs bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.

Mariposa also has a full sized washer and dryer, onsite parking for two cars in addition to available street parking, and a large living room with a gas fireplace, a Smart TV, and Sonos for music. Each bedroom has its own TV as well for cozy entertainment. The outside space includes a private porch with an outdoor propane grill. Please note that this unit does not have air conditioning.

Compared to other Academy Place units, Mariposa is most suitable for families with children looking for a more private and tucked away cottage. It is adjacent to the Academy Place office, the small park with a fountain, and Valerian cottage. Its bunk room allows for a higher sleeping capacity than any of our other three bedroom cottages (eight people maximum), and it is slightly further away from the common Courtyard area. Mariposa is frequently booked alongside Valerian and Paintbrush for larger groups looking to rent adjacent cottages.

All rentals at Academy Place require the guest to sign our Rental Agreement.

Fantastic New House

Everything was as advertised. We had a party of 6 and an infant for 5 nights. The kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking items needed and nice GE Monogram appliances. The primary bedroom was upstairs with 2 guest bedrooms in the basement. We had one maintenance issue that was minor but addressed promptly. The only other issue I had was the primary bed was very uncomfortable. I realize this is a personal preference but it did affect my sleep. Everything else was great and we would definitely stay here again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed here for 3 weeks with our family of 5. We have 3 children and they have varied interests. Our older ones mountain biked the majority of the time they were there, our daughter loved looking at the flowers and watching the hummingbirds and petting the resident dogs. She loved playing with new friends she met on the communal lawn. We loved how helpful the staff was, the central location of the property, the clean and beautiful new home. It was fabulous. We saw bear, owls, marmots, really cool animals at every turn. The home was equipped with everything we needed and we loved the steam shower. We cooked in most nights and that was fabulous. When we did go out for a meal, everything was walkable. Our boys even road their bikes to the jumps and back from the mountain. We enjoyed the wildflower festival, the arts festival as well as the Monday night concerts so close to us! We would love to return.

It’s new, beautifully appointed yet livable (we had 4 grandkids visit). The home is well equipped with top of line appliances, a fully stocked kitchen and top of the line linens. The beds are heavenly too! The location is a 5 min walk to Elk Ave. The management lives on property and responds to any request immediately.

I would give it 5 stars but we couldn’t sleep in upper bedroomBecause of the street noise. The upper room needs ac so you don’t have to open windows. The only downside was it stayed pretty warm in the condo the entire time, particularly the top story bedroom. We left the windows open at night, but the days were so warm, it was super hard to get it cooled down. There were extra fans that were provided that did help. All that to be said, we would stay here again...we had a great experience!

This was our 2nd time visiting CB and wanted to stay in town considering we’d be hiking and biking in nature during the day. Location was super convenient as we didn’t need to drive to go to restaurants. The cottage was well designed and beautifully furnished. Property manager was very accessible and reached out periodically to see if we needed anything. 5 star accommodation for CB and a great option for a week stay. We would recommend Academy Place and would stay again.
