Spacious Northeast Kingdom Retreat on Beautiful Shadow Lake!

Escape to the Northeast Kingdom of VT with your friends and family to a comfortable 5 bedroom, 3 bath lakeside home that sleeps 12! Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation or a bit of both, our home in Glover is beautiful in all seasons. It has an open concept living and updated kitchen area, a loft for stretching out in, and a lower level game room. Summertime brings swims and paddles from our private dock, with a canoe and a kayak for your use. Greet the morning sunrise with coffee on the deck overlooking gorgeous Shadow Lake. Play a game of horseshoes on the expansive front yard, then sit under the stars with s'mores at the fire pit. Ride Kingdom Trails, visit the Bread and Puppet museum, and enjoy nearby hikes (including Perry Holbrook State Park just a few miles away) in both summer and fall with gorgeous foliage. Close to Willoughby Lake and Mt. Pisgah. In winter, snowshoe on a wooded trail right from the house or visit nearby groomed cross country ski trails at Craftsbury Outdoor Center or Highland Lodge. We are nestled between Jay Peak and Burke Mountain for alpine enthusiasts, and snowmobilers have nearby access to VAST trails. Relax with a good book and take in views of the mountains or gather in the game room for pool, foosball or a round of darts. The updated kitchen is ideal for cooking for the crew, or visit nearby Parker Pie for pizza and Hill Farmstead on tap. And if you need to work or stay connected, there is high speed internet and a work space. There is something for everyone here, and we welcome you to our home on beautiful Shadow Lake!

Our family enjoyed this beautiful home-very spacious and well laid outThe game room was a hit!Nice view of the lake from the large deck! Made use of the paddlboat-kayaks and rowboatWe had absolutely sunny weather!!Hope to be able to return next summer!

Picturesque Lake Setting

Property was very clean. The layout was just as described. Very quiet picturesque lake setting. Restaurants are about 40 minutes away! If you are looking for peace and quiet this would be a great choice.

Thank you for your review and glad you enjoyed Shadow Lake! For future renters, we love to support our local restaurants. Parker Pie is 10 minutes away in West Glover village -yummy pizza and sometimes live music on the weekends. Blackbird Bistro in Craftsbury, with delicious cocktails, is about 15 minutes away, and is open Thursday- Sunday.

Buck Family reunion

My family and my cousin and her family had an amazing time here! The house is perfect for larger families or multiple families. Everyone enjoyed their time here. The lake is so quiet and peaceful. The neighbors are friendly and the small towns nearby are adorable. My family and i are already talking about our next trip back to Shadow Lake! Thank you for such a beautiful space to enjoy this little gem!

We cannot say enough about how great this place is. Our group of seven came to the Northeast Kingdom to participate in the fly to pie marathon event and stayed here for the weekend. This house is spacious and comfortable – plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is well appointed And the basement rec area is a lot of fun. We enjoyed games of pool and foosball and the comfy lounger couch. We also had a wonderful dip in the lake after our day of biking and running. Listening to the loons was an added bonus. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in such a well appointed rental and the location is just stunning. The huge deck overlooking the lake is lovely, and the hosts are responsive and easy to work with. We will be back!

Comfortable Lake House

We stayed with 2 families of 5 as our base camp for a weekend on the snow at Jay Peak. The home was very comfortable. The kids all loved the pool & foosball tables, and the adults loved the well appointed & stocked kitchen & the secret pantry :-) It snowed off & on the whole weekend, & we saw fishermen on the ice, but the lake looked like it would be really lovely in the summer.

Family Vacation

We come to the NEK nearly every summer. We like to stay at different lakes around the area. My friend suggested Shadow Lake this year. I was so happy with the house, well appointed, quiet, right on the lake, and Glover has some neat things to do. The house is quite big and fit our six very comfortably. The owners were very pleasant to communicate with. The house really has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Highly recommend! I may even rebook for next year and make Shadow Lake our yearly NEK destination.

EVERYTHING was even better than described or shown in the pictures. Got plenty of help from the hosts.We are a large family who have gathered in a variety of accommodation styles.This time was for the passing of the oldest sister. As sad as this event would be, the beauty of the surroundings, the impeccable rooms and amenities soon had all voicing the same praises, "This is the kind of place only our mother could have found". And no one ever found better places to stay.While we didn't have children or teens with us, all of us commented that AS children or teens, this would have been the kind of place that we could have had a terrific time. Those of us who have adult children, said that when THEY were children or teens, they could have had a terrific time AND stayed out from underfoot of the adults.A true family find.Thank you to our hosts.

Spectacular stay! Immediately booked for next year!

We came together as a family from 5 different states to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday. Shadow Lake is near and dear to her heart (her father built a cabin many years ago on the lake). We chose this house and it exceeded our expectations! The views are wonderful, the dock is a joy, the kitchen is gorgeous and well-stocked, and the 3BR/3BA is great for a big group. We enjoyed lake days, campfires, great food and the entire experience wouldn’t have been as sweet without the many home details. We immediately booked for next year! We can’t wait to come back and re-live the week again. If you’re thinking of booking, do it! You won’t regret it.

Golf trip with friends.

Me and my buddies stayed at this residence thur-Sunday. 7 of us. Explored the NEK. Played golf and Jay peak, and in Stowe. The house was in the perfect location (for us) as we wanted to stay in the north east area of Vermont. We love it up here. If you’re looking for a beautiful quiet get away. With family or friends, you will have an amazing time staying at John and his family’s home on beautiful shadow lake! House was clean, beds comfy. More than enough room. Beautiful kitchen, appliances ect. Everything was there that we needed including an outdoor grill. Plenty of things to keep yourself entertained inside the home and out. A friend of mine also left something behind, owner located it and shipped it out next day. Would/ will be staying again in the future. Highly recommend this rental.

We loved this home for three families of four. It has a great layout for parents to stay upstairs and all the kids to stay downstairs. The game room is awesome, with high-quality foosaball and pool tables. The house also has an updated, well-stocked kitchen which we used for lots of cooking.
