We absolutely loved our stay! The house was charming, cozy, and had everything we needed. The backyard was beautiful and the perfect spot to relax, hang out, and make memories with friends and family. We would definitely stay here again!

This property was perfect for our stay while we visited the local vineyards. Laura spent a great deal of thought and effort choosing the decor and touches to this home. It had so much character!! The accommodations were as listed and the beds, linens, and towels were great quality! Check-in and check-out was a breeze. The location was central to the wineries. We would definitely stay here again!!

We had a wonderful stay for our annual "girls" weekend at the beautiful "Peacock Home". The home was lovely and very roomy for the 5 of us. So many beautiful decorating touches throughout - we felt like we were in a Victorian mansion (with all of the modern conveniences!). Great that each of us had our own bedroom too. I was a little worried about the AC on the upstairs level being an older home, but we were cool and comfortable throughout. The beds were super comfortable as well. I highly recommend staying here if your travels take you to Shawnee Forest /SIU Carbondale area.

Our girls trip to the wine trail ended up being a wonderful time of relaxing, conversation, and laughter in this beautiful Victorian home! We have decided that the next time we come, maybe we’ll actually travel the wine trail. Haha! We thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out in the house! Every detail has been meticulously thought out. We all had our own rooms upstairs and loved the theme of each room. We do love to cook, but knowing there is not a traditional oven and stove top in the house before we came, we prepared our dishes ahead of time and everything worked out great. The cooktop and large toaster oven worked so well. Since it was Halloween weekend, we were able to enjoy trick-or-treaters and had a great time dressing up in costume. Peacock on Poplar is by far one of our favorite rentals that we have stayed in and will definitely be back! Thank you, Laura, for restoring this treasure! We even counted all of the peacocks inside the house!!

This is a very unique property. What we love about it is the number of bedrooms - 4 upstairs and 1 downstairs. It also has a hot tub which is nice. The flowers and plants are gorgeous. Right in town in Cobden. We have walked to the coffee shop and iron whisk for breakfast. It is about a mile on the other side of the railroad tracks. You do hear the train but that adds to the charm, and the host provided ear plugs. The AC was awesome. The host leaves treats which is a nice touch. It is a house to be treated with respect to the decor. There is a small bathroom downstairs which is a life saver. We have stayed here twice. Great place.

This home is more than just a place to stay! It is beautiful property, inside and out. It is full of interesting art and beautiful stained glass. The home is tidy, cozy, and very clean. The beds are extremely comfortable with extra nice beddings and towels. We could have stayed longer!

We had a great stay here. The house has a ton of character and feels really well cared for, but still super comfortable. Everything was clean, beds were great, and we loved hanging out on the screened porch. Hot tub and fire pit were a nice bonus.Location is perfect. Close to wineries, trails, and everything in the area without feeling crowded.Host was easy to work with and very responsive. You can tell they put thought into the experience.Have stayed here multiple times and will definitely stay here again.

Wine trip

Absolutely perfect house, had a wonderful time going to the wineries and then relaxing in the evening in the hot tub and by the fire.

Perfect getaway

We came with our book club and it was the perfect spot! It gave amazing Victorian vibes. The best and softest towels and beds/bedding ever. We enjoyed the hot tub and local winery!

House was awesome

The house has cute themed rooms, a hot tub and a beautiful butterfly garden, the winner for us though was the screened in porch! Overall it was a good experience for a bachelorette party weekend!

Fantastic property, great location

My friend group and I love this property. We'll continue to stay at it each year as long as the host allows us to do so. The property has an incredible amount of character, easily holds our group of eight and is located in a great spot to reach any area of interest in the region from wineries to parks. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Great weekend stay!

Very impressed with this house. The owners have made this house so nice with a great amount of space for our group of 9 adults! There is a nice dining room for board game playing, a nice screened back porch, hot tub, and even a fire pit and chairs. It’s not easy to find a space like this with 5 bedrooms and the nice attention to detail that this house has. It was also very convenient to the winery trail and bourbon bar in the area. Thanks for making this a great weekend stay…I definitely recommend it!

Great weekend

Close to wineries. The property had everthung we needed and then some. Pleanty of room for our gang to spread out.

This property is incredible

This place exceeded our expectations. It had more than enough room for our group of 8 to sleep comfortably. The location was fantastic for our purposes. The home itself is exceptionally well maintained and has so much character. We were not able to take full advantage of the outdoor spaces, but expect to do so in the future. It's worth noting the lack of a traditional stove/oven, but we did not find it limiting for our needs. We'll be staying here again. If you visit, be sure to visit the Iron Whisk...

Perfect Spot to stay when visiting the Wine Trail.

This place was perfect for our group of 8! Great location for taking in the wine trail and Shawnee. The house has been updated with a definite attention to detail. We'd definitely stay here again and enjoyed the spaciousness of the house and all the amenities. One thing to note: There is not a traditional cooktop or oven. However, there is a grill, a countertop griddle, and a two-burner electric hot plate, which was plenty for us to prepare meals when we stayed in. We were really impressed with how nice the house was and the proximity to so many activities! Definitely recommend this place to any group heading to the wine trail.

Adorable house

This house was everything we needed for a weekend get away! Only thing I would maybe change is the fact the listing didn’t say anything about there not being a traditional oven/stove. There is a countertop ninja toaster oven/air fryer and some other counter top kitchen tools. It was not a major inconvenience for us. We loved the screened in porch area. The weather didn’t cooperate for a fire pit but the yard was lovely. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. Be sure to hit up the iron whisk for breakfast/brunch.
