Michael's cabin is amazing and just as described and shown or better. It is in an ideal location just a few minutes away from Snowbird Lodge and Joyce Kilmer National Forest. There's a marina nearby that you can rent boats from to go out on and enjoy beautiful lake Santeetlah. We rented a pontoon boat and had a wonderful and relaxing morning. We also used the canoe that Michael provided to go out for a fantastic paddle one evening. The area of the Lake Santeetlah that the cabin is on is incredibly peaceful and picturesque. The rental is very well furnished and the beds are all comfortable. There's a wonderful living room with a gas fireplace to hang out in along with plenty of outdoor seating areas and porches. Anytime we are in this area we will definitely stay here again. I very highly recommend this as a relaxing and scenic getaway.

We had an annual fishing trip in Robbinsville and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. A nice, quiet and relaxing place close to where we were fishing. Mike’s listing is exactly as depicted and certainly did not disappoint!Check in and out was very easy and Mike is very responsive

This cabin is lovely and has a kind of rustic vibe. It reminds me of a cabin that my parents had when I was very young. It is cozy and well appointed. The host was very friendly and responsive. Everything that we needed was available. I would definitely stay at this property again.

What can I say. The cabin was beautiful and clean. We stayed three nights. The dock and fishing were a great bonus. Definitely one of our favorite places. We hope to stay again in the future. Telling everyone about the cabin. Highly recommend!!

Great Place!

This is one of the best VRBO properties I’ve stayed at. We were there for 4 nights, and it was a perfect location for scenic driving. The cabin itself is as described in listing and pictures. It is cozy, clean and comfortable. We will stay again when back in the area.

Canoes are excellent feature House location on lake, near Joyce Kilmer forest and skyway is hard to top House was comfortable, and its history was fun Screened porch and kitchen were our favorites Thanks for a great vacation

Fabulous cabin with history!

We had an amazing time in this cabin. It has everything you need. Morning coffee at the dock was beautiful and at night we laid on the doc and admired the hundreds of stars in the sky. Every night we did a fire and enjoyed the property. Our kids went canoeing on the lake, as we bbq outside. It was just perfect. Beds were comfortable and showers were hot.

Exactly what we were looking for

Wonderful stay at the cabin. Rustic but well done and had everything we needed. Docked our boat for the trip and had a great time on the lake. Michael was very responsive to all inquiries.

Great cabin!

We loved our stay in the lake santeetlah cabin! It was beautiful and we enjoyed being on the lake, canoeing and swimming near the dock. We enjoyed the fact that there’s essentially no cell service and wifi is pretty much non-existent! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

Peaceful haven

Upon arrival we were instantly excited and in love with the cabin. The old time charm, peaceful surroundings and mornings on screened in porch enjoying the 10 or more varieties of bird chatter made for a vacation of relaxation. Nice fire pit area. All though fish weren’t biting enjoyed time on water. Easy boat launch access 15 minutes away. A must Joyce Kilmer Forest. Amazing hike. But can’t say enough about the cabin and grounds. We didn’t want to leave. Will be back!

A Rainy Retreat in a Charming Historic Cabin

We just returned from a 4-day stay at this charming historic log cabin on the lake, and it was exactly the unplugged retreat we needed. Sure, it rained the first two days and the fish were clearly on vacation too—but none of that dampened the experience.The cabin is full of character, with antique decor that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time, in the coziest way possible. It was spotless, well-equipped, and had all the comforts of home—including a fireplace that we absolutely lived in front of during the rainy days.When the weather cleared, we took full advantage of the private dock, canoe, and kayaks. Evenings by the fire pit were the perfect way to wind down. The setting is peaceful, the mountain views are stunning, and the host was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay.This place is a rare gem—equal parts relaxing and restorative. We’ll definitely be back (and next time, those fish better cooperate).

The owner was very responsive to questions and anything we needed. The cabin is very cute and cozy. The screened in porch was nice to enjoy without being bothered by bugs. It could use some more comfortable seating though. The cabin was very clean and had all the necessities as well. We felt this cabin being labeled as “Lakefront” was misleading. While it may possibly be part of the lake, it’s like being on a river and be labeled “Riverfront.” One of the outdoor decks had a table, but was unusable because it didn’t have chairs. The other recommendation I would provide is to have 2 adult size kayaks (instead of 1). The last downside is that it’s farther from town, but was accessible to the other outdoor activities we had planned.

My tine here

It was a very charming place, the outfit of an old cabin modernized with ventilation and electricity. The decor was qell thought out for what it was (no "lake life" or "live laugh" adornments anywhere). The most exciting additions to my stay, other than the canoes and lake itself, was a vouple of skillets he left hanging over a stove from my childhood. It was like i was cooking in my grandpatents house again, making pizzas, burgers, heating soft tacos, reverse searing steaks, getting fat. Didnt lack anything needed as far as appliances, cleaners, TP, and even though the house is right by a road, it was very quiet outside. We didnt fish, which seemed like a good place to do so, but my wife and I treversed the lake, burned wood in the firepit, got drunk on the dock (we are responsible adults) and just enjoyed this awesome place. I would say any reasonable person wouldn't find a flaw on this property bad enough to ruin their vacation, it was clean and kept in good shape, and that always deserves 5 stars. Cheers

No connectivity

You can sit and stare at your spouse or watch a DVD, end of entertainment. Attempting to watch TV is not worth the effort, it’s similar to 1994 dial up connections without the weird noise, constantly buffering. Zero cellular connection so if you’re into being in the Stone Age this is the place to go. There’s a few things I didn’t notice in the listing when I booked the house, like you are required to strip the beds before leaving, place all the dishes in the dishwasher and start it before leaving, collect all the bath towels you’ve used and put them in the washing machine and start a load before leaving. I can’t swear those are not in the rental listing but I didn’t see them. I cleaned cobwebs out of numerous corners upon arrival and began wondering why I paid to clean up before and after a week’s stay. I’m writing this review after staying for 4 days in April and then for a week in May that was planned over 6 months ago.I’m not ever going back but others may feel differently. Good luck and enjoy.

Steven, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and give specific feedback. I do think your feedback makes us better. Yes, the cabin has poor Internet, at least by modern expectations. We also have a diverse collection of books, DVDs, board games, and jigsaw puzzles as in-house entertainment, which have brought our family many hours of entertainment. I'm sorry those were not to your taste. And yes, it is quite difficult for us to keep the spiders out of a 160 year old hand-built home in the woods near a body of water. Try as we might, it sounds like we missed some before your check in. I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations here. I do wish you and any future guests would be more communicative, though. I messaged you tips about the Internet on March 28, and again after you checked in on April 19. I provided you my cell phone number and a working landline phone so that we could communicate about any issues with your stay. I wish you would have given me an opportunity to help, as I think y'all might have had a better time. I wish you well in your future travels.

We enjoyed our stay at the Private Lakefront Log Cabin. True to the description this is a charming historic cabin on a quiet part of the lake. We especially enjoyed swimming and floating off of the property's dock and the shaded screened-in back deck which stayed cool even on hot days. The location is close to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest with its amazing trees (a must see) and not too far Robbinsville and other amenities to access when needed. Our host, Michael, was probably the most responsive and helpful host we have had amongst the 30 or so short-term rental properties we have stayed at during our travels.

Secluded Lake Getaway

Absolutely charming old-world cabin with all the modern comforts! Saying we enjoyed our stay is hardly saying enough. The house is terrific, with the character and quirks of historic spaces but wonderfully restored and updated so it provides easy living. We thoroughly enjoyed fires at the outdoor firepit and the ease of the electric fireplace for that extra-cozy atmosphere inside. The location was terrific for our daily hiking outings and it was a pleasure to unwind and play games around the table in the evenings. The owners are quickly and easily accessible if there are any questions at all--friendly and very helpful with tips about local food and rec options. House is well-appointed for a getaway so it was easy to get in and settle in--they even had the whole house well lit for our nighttime arrival so it really was like we were coming home for a spell!

Perfect Cabin Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this historic log cabin. It is so cozy and inviting…a perfect place to refresh and relax. It was too cold to be outside for long but sitting on the dock all bundled up was so peaceful. My family loved our time there and we would definitely stay again.
