We loved our stay at Baldy Bear Cabin! It was cozy and quiet. The kitchen was well supplied and the living room comfortable for the whole family. We enjoyed the visits from mule deer and foxes and even a bear! The cabin is convenient to town and a couple of nice hikes.

Rustic mountain cabin on a mountain above Breckenridge. Views of the ski slopes and mountains are great as you drive back and forth from downtown. The cabin is surrounded by trees but does have other cabins close by. Close to several hiking trails which was great as we took our dogs on hikes each day. Would recommend if you want the cabin in the mountains vibe.

Cabin Extraordinaire!!!!

This cabin is amazing! The Kitchen was fabulous and had everything you needed . The beds were comfortable the lines were soft and high quality!!! The fireplace and hot tub made the whole place extra special. WE will definitely be renting again on our return to Breckenridge…!!

Very nice! Great fireplace and fire pit. Hot tube wonderful. Had two young moose visit us in the yard one morning! Trees were beautiful! Online pics did not do it justice.

Beautiful Mountian Log Cabin

Pictures don't do this property justice, absolutely gorgeous cabin, well socked with all the comforts of home. Get ready to suck some air and drink lots of water as this place is 10,000+ feet. There were fire restrictions in place so we couldn't use the fire pit and the hot tub felt amazing after a long day of hiking. Dog friendly too and the pooch loved the giant deck off the back of the property for some early morning sun bathing. This place is a must if you are visiting the area.

Amazing

We were very happy with our mini vacation in Breckenridge and the cabin that we choose online. It was immaculate and perfect for us. After a medical emergency in 2021 they let us transfer the reservation to 2022 which was wonderful for us. Thank you for sharing your beautiful mountain home with us. Andy and Donna Sands

Mountain Cabin next to National Forest

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. We were able to snow shoe and use our backcountry cross country skis right from the house into National Forest and connect into lovely trails. A 4 wheel drive vehicle in the winter would be highly recommended as the snow plow plowing the county road pushes snow into the drive way.

Dirty with food smeared on counter tops. Hot tub was slimy and stunk really bad. Sheets were not fresh. The owners have a nice place. The people who manage the rental are not good at cleaning

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Baldy Bear a few nights August 4th - 7th, 2015. First the bad, Shower leaked a little, hot water heater needed to be fixed, hot tub was cold when we got there (not turned on), the kitchen utensils could use and upgrade, and the property could have used a little better up-keep (overgrown with weeds, etc). With that being said, this place is pretty cool. If you are looking for a place outside of the village this is worth taking a look at. It is far from 5-star accommodations, but definitely comfortable enough for a few days. Plenty of space for two adults and 6 kids, large kitchen, area outside is fun for kids to explore, nice TV with full Comcast channel line up, strong wifi signal, just a nice cabin feel to the whole place. About a 10 minute drive up a steep winding road from Breckenridge village, we handled it just fine in a 22 foot RV, not sure I would want to go up and down this road in winter. For the items that needed some attention, Alpine Meadows management had someone there within an hour and the issues were resolved without question. We would stay here again if ever in the area, as long as you know what to expect you won't be disappointed.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was exactly the mountain cabin experience that we wanted for our mother-daughter trip last month. We stayed for a week and were very pleased with the property. The decor made us feel right at home. I can't think of a single thing that would have made it better. We cooked many meals in the kitchen and had everything we could possibly need. There was even a drawer of spices & other dry basics probably left behind by other visitors that we were able to use. My mother found the downstairs mattress to be too soft & said her back hurt every morning, but I slept upstairs and was fine. The hot tub next to the babbling brook was an especially nice feature! The location was so convenient - about 10 minutes to get to Main St Breckenridge. The only thing I didn't like was having neighbors so close. You can't really tell from the photos, but there are houses nearby that you can see & hear. It wasn't that big a deal, but just know that you aren't as isolated as the pics seem. I didn't really like the pack of neighborhood dogs/welcome committee that came to bark at us every day. I still give my visit 5 stars and would stay here again!

The Cabin of Our Dreams...

Everything stated in the description of this property is right on. If you're looking for a secluded cabin (only one neighbor within shouting distance), with everything you need, this is pretty much it. This property is a true log cabin but upgraded for comfort. As stated, it backs up to a national forest, so the views are incredible. We cooked all our own meals and the kitchen provided almost everything we needed. I say almost, because the only thing missing was a pair of tongs (or maybe we just couldn't find them) and a good-quality knife. Understandable about the knife as who wants to donate a high-quality knife to be misused? That said, just about every type of pot and/or pan is provided, plus a wide variety of spices as well. And there is a knife that is serviceable. Just make sure you bring cooking oils etc., if you plan to cook like we did. Again, understandable that condiments aren't provided as even oils go bad and it becomes a liability issue for homeowners. The hot tub for this property is outstanding and probably the finest we've ever encountered at a VRBO. Additionally, there is a beautiful stone hearth fireplace with ample firewood supplied. We did have issues following the directions for using the fireplace which had a rather unique damper system, and resulted in quite a bit of smoke accumulating in the cabin. The management company sent someone up to help almost immediately, but neither he nor I could determine what the issue was. Alpine Meadows is going to talk to the owners to verify the directions are indeed correct. One final thing: although the description states the beds are all queen-size, we found them to be rather small for queens, so we ended up sleeping separately in the two queens upstairs. This was a small price to pay for staying in this beautifully appointed cabin in such an incredible location. We had a wonderful time in this stunning cabin and will definitely return. In fact, we loved it so much I was hesitant to give it such a good review because we'd rather keep it a secret! By the way, Hannah at Alpine Meadows was an absolute joy to work with. She was incredibly responsive and always available to answer any and all questions. Thank you Hannah! Dave & Barb

Not a good fit

After much thought, my husband and I would give this a 3 out of 5. It was not a good foot for our family and we would discourage those with kids under age 3 or those uncomfortable starting and maintaining a wood-burning fire from renting it. The biggest concern we had was the heating. It was in the single digits while we were there and the main level would not get above ~62 during the morning and evening (sometimes lower). It was brutal for our infant who was crawling/walking on the floor (and us as well...we stayed in our ski jackets/pants). When we asked management if the heater was broken, we were then told to maintain heat in the house during these temperatures, we must light a fire. With a small child, this is not safe, and had we known this we would have stayed elsewhere. There was a radiator that we could use, but again, safety concern. The house also said it was "stocked for full capacity." However, there were only 5 fire starters (which we quickly used after the baby went to sleep in an attempt to warm up, but definitely wouldn't last for all day & night for a full week) and 2 shampoo and conditioner bottles (the super small ones from a hotel). So we rationed heat even more and dealt with helmet hair. We brought our 4W drive car with us and the snow was plowed on our street one morning, but it created a snow drift at the driveway entrance which our car got stuck on and we spent 30 minutes digging out of it. Although the beds state they are queens, they are the smallest queens I've ever slept on. Lastly, there was a leak in the ceiling on our second night. Dripped for about 12 hours pretty steadily. We called management right when it happened but were told they wouldn't get to it until first thing the next morning. By 9am the next morning no one was there yet and when we called they were unaware of the urgency. After talking longer, they mentioned the leak was there a few days before and it was just an ice dam on the roof that needed to be chipped off. As an owner, I would be upset about a leak not addressed more promptly. As a renter, it was really frustrating to be dealing with calling/scheduling maintenance while on vacation and sleeping with the constant "drip drip." Overall, this would have been a good fit for some college or graduate students who want to pack into a house and have the freedom to be able to cook and use a fireplace and have a hot tub. However, this was not a good fit at all for a family with a small child.

Stellar location!

We came for hiking and the house is a 100 yards from amazing hiking! It borders the national forest. It’s close to Breck but far enough to feel secluded. The layout of the home is ideal. The kitchen was well stocked. Will be back for sure!

Come to relax!

Very cute cabin. We were impressed more knowing from photo album that the cabin was built by owners!! We did not see bears, but they left their poop on the porch :) Boreas pass is the must to drive in fall season! There is an old dog( very friendly!) coming for food and friendship. Please cherish him!! Just make sure you bring everything with you for cooking! There are salt, some spices and oil. That’s it. Not welcoming, but groceries stores are just minutes away. Great location! And COZY cabin to enjoy!

Baldy Bear

The house and location was great. But when we arrived at 4 pm. It was still being cleaned. The draws in the dresser just fall out. Not usable. KItchen has missing floor boards covered by a dirty rug. Has a few throw blankets but were gross. One of the bed in the loft had a broken beam. And the absolute worst was the fireplace. Which is needed to warm the house. Really crappy fireplace. Instructions were read and reread and we could never get the wood to burn. Very very disappointed. No point in having a fireplace. Oh snd even trying to wash dishes in sink almost impossible with the drizzle that comes out. Refrigerator draws all. Broken Draws and no shelf racks on the door.

Great Family Cabin
