Snug Gretna Winter Escape ~ Affordable Cottage

This cottage really is cute, perfect for a couple, a small family, or group of friends. We are happy you enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for being great guests.

Extra time and attention were spent recently to get the cottage clean and sparkling! We are happy to hear you liked it. One of the free parking lots is about a 3-minute walk from the cottage, but we recommend parking in Mount Gretna United Methodist Church lot (about a 30-second walk from the cottage) when unloading or loading to make things a lot easier! Back in the 1800's, the Campmeeting neighborhood was designed as a summer retreat, with cottages built very close together intentionally, and all of them surrounding the Tabernacle, which still holds performances and summer concerts to this day. This cottage is special, because you can enjoy everything from the front porch! Mount Gretna is a very fun, and unique vacation spot that has become a favorite to travelers.

Sorry about the sound of the fire siren, Mike! Mount Gretna is served by a volunteer fire company that can be alerted to a wide range of emergencies by a fire siren which can sound at all hours of the day and night - it is loud and repeats three times. Thank you for your detailed 5-star review! Mount Gretna is unique, for sure! The village was originally a summer camp in the 1800's. Cottages were intentionally built to closely surround the Tabernacle, the outdoor auditorium or open-air theatre space. Concerts are held there regularly, many of them free, as well as a yearly festival. We are so glad you were able to enjoy one from the porch during your stay. Thanks for being great guests! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, Gary! Campmeeting cottages are historic, many of them built in the late 1800's. Quirks like doors not latching fully can be expected occasionally. We will mention this to the owner, however. The cleaning service used in July has been terminated. Unfortunately, they were not meeting our expectations. We take cleanliness seriously, and complaints are not taken lightly. We are very pleased to be able to say our new cleaning team has been doing a fantastic job! Mini-split air conditioning in all the bedrooms really makes this cottage stand out, and this summer has been HOT! We are so sorry about the porch rails. They have both been completely replaced since your stay and are now very sturdy. We agree that not having parking right at the cottage can be an inconvenience. We recommend parking in the church lot (about a 30-second walk from the cottage) when unloading or loading to make things a lot easier! A bonus is the pedestrian-only walking path the cottage is nestled upon, too. No traffic when enjoying time on the front porch!
