I've never left a negative review before- but the owner didn't respond to me when I tried to speak to him about these issues, so here it is. The house wasn't totally clean when we arrived. The fridge had spills in it and the glassware and ice smelled like seafood. I felt the 75 cleaning fee (and asking the renter to sweep and vacuum) was excessive considering that the place isn't being cleaned well. The front screen door doesn't close so mosquitos came in. There is no handle on the inside of the heavy sliding wood door. It didn't close all the way so no privacy all week- it's also a pretty serious fire hazard to have no handle on the inside of a heavy door. The closet door also sticks badly and I had to leave it open throughout the trip. There were several things not mentioned in the property listing. I was disappointed to not be able to use the porch light because I like to spend time outside at night. It should be stated that the wood stove was not allowed for use since it was one of the reasons I chose to rent the cottage. The water tank noise at night should have been mentioned in the listing. I can look past the lack of TV, dishwasher, and functional washer-dryer, however all things considered the tiny rental was remarkably overpriced (almost 3k! for a week). Finally, I have never had a property owner show up unannounced during a stay. Check out was at 11 and the male owner arrived w/o notice at 9:45 am. I'm a single woman with a kid and that made me uncomfortable.
