Private orchard with comfy accommodations, large stone kitchen and large pool

This mature and private orchard villa rents privately for groups of family, friends or retreats. A giant hand-crafted stone kitchen and spring fed pool serve as the social center of this group destination. A rooftop palapa is ideal for morning sunrise activities and stargazing.

Nestled just off the mountain highway that connects Los Cabos to La Paz through the Sierra Laguna, San Bartolo is a rural stop along the way. Tiendas along the street sell empanadas, tamales and the regional fruit products that the area is known for.

Just down our driveway, the orchard opens into 2.5 hectares, roughly 5 acres, of towering fruit and rare Baja shade. The canopy of this mature fruit orchard that has sustained the regional business for generations provides the backdrop for your cozy accommodations.

Our canvas wall and bell tents with comfortable beds and bedding are well-spaced throughout the orchard and all have two comfy Adirondack chairs in front. Additionally, three indoor rooms are available for guests. All accommodations have AC and heat, as needed. Each tent has a clean bathroom with compost toilet nearby.

The orchard is home to towering mango, avocado, grapefruit, orange and guava trees, along with plantain, bamboo, coffee, lemon and lime. You are free to use whatever is in season. The site is rented in its entirety, so think of it as your own personal Eden for the duration of your stay.

The apartment has a private complete bathroom. All guests have access to two showers; one outdoor shower under a grapefruit tree, and one indoor shower in one of our gorgeous hand-crafted stone buildings. Both have great on-demand hot water.

There is a lot of space to wander and reflect, write, gather, and enjoy the abundance of nature. This is a perfect destination for families and friends traveling together, retreats, health, wellness, and art groups.

We are located in Baja Sur, just 15 minutes from the popular beach destination Los Barriles.

Guests can stay on the property all day and enjoy leisure time around the pool, or strike out on day trips. A short trip to the beaches on the East Cape for snorkeling and water play, local hikes, a ranch cooking class and a cacao ceremony are also available. The towns of El Triunfo, Santiago, Todos Santos and La Ventana are all within an hours drive.

The property backs onto the San Bartolo arroyo, with an exit gate so that guests can walk out and up into the mountains as they wish. Water runs in the San Bartolo arroyo year round, fed from the nearby natural spring "El Ojo de Agua" or 'the eye of the water'. This spring water also fills our pool.

The kitchen is well stocked for guest use with all of the supplies you'd need, or we can help arrange a chef for your visit. There are also board games and puzzles for guests to enjoy. A short walk to the street offers fresh tortillas, tamales, and empanadas from the vendors of San Bartolo.

Cows, goats and horses wander freely up our arroyo to drink from the stream, and the soundscape is often their bells, roosters and birdsong. The orchard is quiet and reflective, but the village is active, and joyful Mexican life can be heard all around.

The stone cocina and pool are hand-crafted by artisans who live nearby and work on the property. The insulating stone allows us to heat or cool our pool for your comfort. The natural beauty of this location cannot be missed, and we are happy to help organize your perfect stay.
