Three Bear Basecamp (3BB) is the realization of our family's dream to have a place right next to our favorite destination in the lower 48: Glacier National Park.
Our journey began back in the mid-1980s when we met in college in Florida. Patty, an avid hiker and camper, had spent years exploring National Parks across the U.S. as a child. She would often tell John about the wonders of these parks. John, the youngest of seven, hadn’t traveled much, so while he understood how special the parks were to Patty, it wasn’t until our honeymoon in 1994 that he truly grasped the beauty of the American West. We took a spontaneous 14-hour road trip from the Rockies to the Grand Canyon, and traveling through Colorado and Utah at sunset, John was hooked.
A few years later, we started exploring National Parks as a family with our three young sons. When John asked Patty which park was her favorite, she immediately said Glacier—a place that had captured her heart in the early 70s. That was it! Glacier became the destination for our next big family adventure.
Over the years, we’ve explored countless National Parks, camping, hiking, and kayaking across the continent a dozen times. But starting in 2006, we spent 13 out of the next 15 years exploring Glacier. We've also organized group trips, multi-generational family adventures, and scout troop excursions in this incredible area.
We love Glacier, and we’re thrilled to share this special part of the world with others. Whether this is your first visit to Glacier or your twelfth, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

We explored many locations in NW Montana and spent years focusing on Flathead County. We considered spots around Flathead Lake, Whitefish, and the surrounding valley. But then we asked ourselves, "Why spend our precious family time driving to the places we love?"
We realized that everything we enjoy most—laughing with family and friends, hiking, kayaking, biking, rafting, swimming, backpacking, horseback riding, stargazing, watching the northern lights, picking huckleberries, and simply relaxing—was right here, just beyond Bad Rock Canyon and outside of Flathead Valley.
With sunny Montana summer days being so precious, we didn’t want to waste any time driving to our favorite activities. Location, location, location became our priority. We wanted to step outside our door and be right in the heart of it all—quick access to epic beauty and adventure, but also close enough to enjoy the shops, restaurants, and live music of Flathead Valley.
At the same time, we wanted the peace and quiet of a serene home, tucked among the woods, wildflowers, and wildlife. A place to unwind with family and friends, free from the traffic and noise of peak season park visitors. It’s the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

There are many things that make our property special, but it all starts with the location. Three Bear Basecamp offers the perfect balance—quiet & peaceful, yet just a short distance from Glacier National Park. You get the serenity of being away from the crowds, but without the congestion & noise that comes with over 3 million annual visitors.

--> Comfortable accommodations: We’ve designed the space to be comfortable for everyone—no futons, couch pullouts, or converted garage spaces. You’ll find true comfort here.

--> Modern amenities: Our new home is equipped with a full-house backup generator, EV charger, A/C, & central heat for year-round comfort.
--> Serene, forested setting: With 8 acres of quiet, wooded land, you’ll have space to relax & unwind in nature.
--> Pure water: Reverse osmosis, UV filtration & water softening throughout the property for the cleanest water possible.
--> Plenty of gathering spaces: Inside & out, we’ve created multiple areas designed for relaxation and connection with family and friends.
