This dog friendly property sits right on the water of Omena Bay. The sunsets are beautiful and being able to hear the waves lapping the shore at night is so relaxing. The location is ideal for getting to all the great things the Leelanau has to offer. Our host is very responsive and the property is very comfortable. We would stay again.

This was our first time staying in a rental with our 5 yr old rescue. He adapted very quickly and it was a wonderful trip for all 3 of us. It was more rustic than expected, but turned out to be a blessing. Beautiful sunsets and loved sitting by the water enjoying a drink and bonfire!

Night on the water

We absolutely loved the property, the location is secluded but still easy to find civilization if needed :-). I would highly recommend!

Perfect location. Cozy and rustic home with only one other cottage on the road. Very private. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the side screened in porch.

Pet area fine with the woods. Excellent view/location. Very nice cabin, but needs a new kitchen sink. We had a great time. Had a fire on the beach.Never found the trash bin, but someone put it out??excell

I want to say upfront that we really did enjoy our relaxing get-away at this secluded Omena rental. We would rent this property again. This cabin is not like staying at the Ritz. The furniture is a bit worn, but comfortable enough to be comfortable. The beds have nice sheets and comforters. Pillows are really nice. This cabin isn't fancy. But what it is is genuine! There were fans, but no air-conditioning. Some of the nights were a bit hot even with fans. It took me back to my youth. Memories of not having every convenience, but enjoying everything.The beach is very rocky, so a rock lovers dream! Bring your water shoes. The water was a wonderful temperature, as the summer sun has warmed the cold Lake Michigan temps. And the water is clear. In water up to my chest I can still see my feet. It doesn't get better.There is a large deck overlooking the lake. And this rental has its own private beach. You get to enjoy having your own little piece of heaven when you stay here. We appreciated that we could bring our Airedale Terrier with us.The bathroom was clean with a nice shower. Just one bathroom here. My husband worried a little about that, but there was never a problem, if you get my drift. There were 4 of us.I feel like the "property information book" needs to be updated. It warmed my heart to read how the owners grew up spending their summers there and how much they loved it.

Paddles & Cider Getaway

Our family (adult kids & dogs) had a great time paddling around Omena Bay, enjoying the fire as the sun went down and the stars/Northern Lights!!!! that came out & exploring the Leelanau Peninsula. We brought our own paddle boards & kayaks and while attached to the larger Grand Traverse Bay, Omena Bay was protected enough to be out all day. Since the adult kids aren’t quite into wine yet, we explored many of the cider options, had a wonderful time and found some new favorites. The fun bottle from Mammoth Distillery was a unique touch. The cabin is a classic Up North, cozy with enough space for everyone.

Though the location, views, and water-frontage of this property are fantastic. However, the unit was not very clean and the kitchen smelled of septic. This place is perfect if you want more of a camping/cabin experience. Walls are paper thin. This is not an elevated or upscale home, but the location and water are beyond beautiful. This home also does not provide towels for outdoor activities -like going in the lake outside its door- so you will have to bring your own or buy them at a local shop, as the listing notes that you are not allowed to uses the provided indoor shower towels outdoors as a house rule. How one could rent out a lake house without towels that can be used at the lake is beyond my comprehension.
