Relax and enjoy your stay at a newly built Colorado mountain log cabin! The Whistling Moose 5BR / 3BA log cabin located above Shadow Mountain Reservoir, just 5 miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and close to the Town of Grand Lake. Rocky Mountain National Park offers miles of trails for all hiking abilities, incredible fishing and abundant wildlife. The Town of Grand Lake offers shopping, dining and entertainment activities. There are many boating and fishing opportunities on Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby, all within a 1 to 5 mile drive from the cabin!

Built in 2024, this fully furnished mountain lodge offers all modern amenities coupled with the comfort of a custom log home in a secluded mountain setting. Relax on the spacious back deck and take in the views ranging from the Never Summer mountain range in Rocky Mountain National Park to the Gore Range to the south. Listen to the burble of the Colorado river, as it winds through the valley below. Grab a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise from the front deck, overlooking shadow mountain reservoir and the Town of Grand Lake. Moose, deer, fox and other wildlife are often seen wandering through the area. Take in the stars on a clear night while you sit on the deck listening to the headwaters of the Colorado River below.

For the adventurous soul or the weekend warrior, activities abound! In the summer, there is world class fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling, site seeing, boating and many other water sports. Practice your swing at one of the 5 pro golf courses in the Grand Lake area. Check out the boat rental and other water activities at the Trail Ridge Marina, just about a half mile from the cabin! Bring your paddle boards or kayaks and enjoy the serenity of the islands on Shadow Mountain Reservoir. Winter in Grand Lake means snow sports. Enjoy miles of trails from the cabin or adventure in to Rocky Mountain National Park; snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling options are endless! If you prefer downhill skiing, a short drive to Granby Ranch (19 miles) or Winter Park / Mary Jane (34 miles) will give you an incredible day on the slopes!

Whistling Moose Lodge has 5 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms, open loft area, well equipped kitchen, dining space for 16, and an inviting great room with a rock fireplace, vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. The garden level has 2 bedrooms: one spacious bedroom with a king size bed, and a bunk room with 2 bunk beds sleeping 4-5. The main floor has the master bedroom with a king bed and the upper level has 2 bedrooms, both with queen size beds, and a loft area. Plenty of room for a large family reunion or other special event!

Come enjoy the beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains at the Whistling Moose Lodge while making memories to last a lifetime.

We loved this house for a large girls weekend! We had every bed full and still had plenty of room. The house was well equipped for a large group and was so nice! The deck was one of our favorite spots! Would love to stay again.

Very comfortable, spacious, beautifully decorated and incredibly clean. Well stocked with everything our extended family of 10 needed for an enjoyable stay. Great location as well, with very easy access to Grand Lake, RMNP and the surrounding towns. We also enjoyed birdwatching from the deck and were delighted to see a mama and baby moose near the river on our first morning. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This is a terrific place to stay - the hosts set up everything so well to accommodate my entire family, and the cabin is spacious and clean. Everyone was extremely comfortable, even when rain interrupted our outdoor plans. Would stay here again!

One word to describe our cabin stay is-Amazing. All of us truly enjoyed the cabin. Whether it was the cabin itself or the actual location, everything was great. Please make sure to read your welcome packet info and also stop at the store prior to driving up to the cabin.

Such a beautiful cabin! Perfect for our family of 6 adults and 4 kids. We spent lots of time just playing with the kids in the cabin and enjoying the incredible views. Very clean and very well stocked.

We absolutely loved this cabin. Watched a herd of elk and a bull moose cross the field from the back porch. You can watch the sun rise from the upstairs balcony as well. 10/10 experience!

My husband and I along with 2 other couples enjoyed a long, wonderful weekend at the Whistling Moose. We came to celebrate my 60th birthday and this property was absolutely perfect for us. The location, layout, and all the amenities made this one of the nicest vacation rentals I’ve ever experienced. I would love to return sometime and would highly recommend it to other folks looking for a beautiful place to unite with friends and family.

Beautiful home with comfy beds and a kitchen with everything. The views are incredible 24/7 and the hummingbirds were fun to observe. Everyone has their own space but large gathering areas are fun, too! Thank you for building and sharing you log cabin with views!!

Beautiful Home! Fantastic Location!

We enjoyed our stay over Memorial weekend. This was a beautiful home with views of the mountains and river from the back deck. The hosts had the basic amenities stocked like laundry and dishwasher supplies, which was nice to have on hand. Town was only a short drive away.

This place was amazing! Very clean and spacious. Check in was easy! Kitchen has everything you need!! The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were super comfy! We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the view. We loved this place and ended up staying an extra night. Trish was great, answering all of our questions. .

Amazing House

This place was amazing - and the communication was too notch. I will stay here again and again when we visit the area. Super clean - check in was amazing and not outsourced, which was a big plus.I would not have changed a single thing. Highly recommend this stay for anyone wanting to bring their family for an incredible vacation place.

Great Views

Very nice home. Well appointed and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Layout worked well for our family trip. We enjoyed the views from the deck and the upper porch. No complaints with this property.

We stayed at Trish and Joel's mountain home for a family celebration. Their house was perfect for our multi-generational family (we had 13 people, ages 3 - 80). The house was spotless and cozy and had everything ewe needed. We appreciated that the kitchen was fully stocked and there was ample space and seating for everyone to eat and hang out. They left helpful recommendations for activities, the neighborhood was great, and the views were amazing. Highly recommend!

Mountain Views Out Every Window!

We really enjoyed our stay in this recently built log home. Great views, clean, modern amenities, comfortable furniture and plenty of space for all! Love the location of the game table upstairs, the plentiful deck seating, large grill and the quiet neighborhood as well! We will most certainly consider staying here again! Love it!

We had a wonderful family weekend. The house was beautiful and well suited for watching evening sunsets on the porch, family meals, and great family card games. We went for a Patoon ride on Grand Lake, visited downtown Grand Lake for shopping, and went for hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park. Trish was extremely helpful and very responsive. We would easily stay there again and highly recommend staying there if visiting the Grand Lake area.

Nothing short of wonderful!!!

Fabulous week (50th anniversary trip) with all 22 in our family at an AMAZING log home! Hosts are amazing to share it! The view from ANY door or window, proximity to charming Grand Lake, RMNP, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, ATV rentals, was super! Sitting out on the beautifully furnished deck was so enjoyable. Everything furnished…just add people!

Moose Lodge review

Stayed in this new log home--absolutely gorgeous! The location was great, close to Shadow Mountain and Grand Lakes. The deck was our go to spot in the evening overlooking the river and turning on the firepit! Many spaces to enjoy the incredible view--my favorite was the loft by the fireplace! Main suite was very comfortable and all the bedrooms were beautifully decorated and welcoming. I highly recommend this home for any size group! Thank you to the owners, you have great attention to detail!

Unbelievably wonderful!

Communication with host was fabulous from start of process through our departure. Home was perfectly suited (and THEN some!) for our family of 12. Host is incredibly unselfish with their top of quality mountain log cabin. Can hardly believe they’d be open to sharing it! So much beauty and SO much to do all around you! Thank you, Joel & Trish, for helping make our family time so lovely and memorable!

We are a multi-generational Colorado family! Grand Lake has been our play ground for many years, from hiking and fishing, to skiing and snowmobiling! There are so many things to do and experience in Grand Lake. True Colorado!

We selected the lot due to the incredible views offered in every direction! Mountains, Shadow Mountain Reservoir, the Town of Grand Lake, the Colorado river, various wildlife and more provide the setting for the cabin! The cabin is set on the lot to capture these views. Don’t forget to go outside on a clear night to look at the stars and the milky way!

Building the Whistling Moose Lodge has been a dream of ours for several years! We previously owned a log cabin in the Grand Lake area and loved the warm community and the family memories we made there. We took all of our favorite aspects of that cabin and made it even better! Joel, being a custom home builder by trade, built the cabin over 3 years. His attention to detail and fine construction quality sets the cabin apart from all others. The Whistling Moose Lodge was a labor of love and we want to share it with your family!
