We had a wonderful stay here in Salvo! The place was spacious and we loved sitting out on the deck. The town is farther away from the busiest parts of OBX. We loved being able to discount for a few days. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Nice spacious apartment on the entire top floor of the surf shop pictured in the description. Great, uncrowded part of Hatteras. Private deck on the ocean side of the building is a big plus, and the employees at the shop were helpful and friendly. Comfortable bed for two (you'll either need to bring or rent linens), but did not try the futon in the living area.

Great place for my husband and I with our 2 dogs. Hospitatility was great, being able to use stuff from their rental place was an added plus and we used the discount to buy merchandise!

Awesome place

We had a great time staying for 5 nights. Clean appatrment with nice view from the balcony. Will definitely stay there next time.

Our stay was unfortunately disappointing. We encountered an ongoing roach/palmetto bug issue throughout the property, with a handful of roaches in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. We documented the issue with photos and found several in a single day. It made us extremely uncomfortable and significantly affected our sleep—we barely slept one night and kept the bedroom lights on because we were worried about finding more.Communication with the owners was also frustrating. We had arranged an early check-in for an additional 25, but when we arrived, Tanya did not respond and we were ultimately let in by Blake, working in the shop below. Despite not actually receiving the early check-in as arranged, we were still sent a request for the 25 fee.Blake, on the other hand, was very nice, helpful, and responsive throughout the stay, The property and location had positives, but unfortunately the repeated pest issue and lack of responsiveness from the owners had a major impact on our experience.

Awesome place to stay!!

Unbelievably great time here, place was perfect. Shop gave us two beach carts to use which was amazing. The beach here is outstanding… awesome fishing and best beach fires….plus you can hop on your bike and cruise the path to all the wonders of this stretch of heaven.

Comfortable rental for 2-4 people. The free equipment (paddleboard, kayak, etc.) are great perks! Both guys at DVO are knowledgeable about the area and helpful. Additional kitchenware for cooking and upgraded pillows will improve future guests’ stays.

Perfect Get Away

Perfect location if you want something quiet. Shop has a lot of great items/rentals. Easy to contact owner. Be prepared to walk a little or drive to beach access. Overall, had a great time and would go back in a heartbeat.

Get a way

Had a great time. Third floor not wheelchair accessible. I was fine. Clean and newly renovated. The guys in the surf shop were very friendly and accommodating. I didn’t use any surf shop offerings however available. My family was at camp Hatteras campground so they came and got me each day. Only 2miles away. Laundry was free to use . Not in my apartment but 1 flight down.

Hostile Host, no soap, BYOTP

We’re a couple of professionals that took a few days off to do kite surfing lessons nearby. Nice guys, both dads, easy guests. Our host was shockingly hostile and made us feel very unwelcome. After I already paid, we were initially refused entry, the host used profanity in anger, hung up the phone on me and on the company rep. It was a display of strongly abnormal behaviour that spanned over a couple of days. Aside from that, there was no soap anywhere, no paper towel, no bath towels, dish towels or hand towels, and one roll of toilet paper for the stay. Think what would a cheap room in Cuba be like if it was worse than a cheap room in Cuba.

Overall its a nice place, however, we were not made aware that there were other apartments there and there was a dog downstairs that barked incessantly and woke us up in the morning. They allow pets but dont allow them on the furniture which was just kind of weird to us. The biggest issue is that we were asked right before we got there if we would need bed linens and towels and I said yes. We were charged an extra 52 for sheets, blankets and OLD towels that they clearly already had at the place. I was extremely unhappy about that. I feel bad because it is a nice little place but I feel that we were "bamboozled" a bit if you will. I guess just make sure you ask questions when you book on here.

Thanks. We d allow pets in all three units. We do allow pets on the furniture as long as there is a blanket to prevent pet hair from getting in the upholstery. The rental is offered with or without linens and towels to allow guests to save on bringing their own. These options are in the house description.

Beautiful apartment with everything that we could ask for a relaxing weekend. Be aware that the apartment is on the third floor and not wheelchair-accessible—it is up a ramp, followed by two long flights of stairs, totaling about 35 steps. Not a problem for us, and even added to the view, but be aware. Our only complaint is that the apartment was missing amenities that we had expected: - Bedding and towels were an extra charge, and not cheap. This was mentioned on the Expedia page, but deeply buried. We missed the notice; otherwise we would have brought our own and saved money. - No soap or shampoo. We had to buy at the local Dollar General store. - We had to ask for toilet paper from the friendly shop staff downstairs; the apartment had only the tail end of one roll. These are all easy items for the owners to fix, and would create a much more inviting atmosphere.

Nice little clean place for the price. Blake was very friendly and helpful! The only downside was the steps to the apartment and we had a 13 month old and no type of gate or closure.
