Casita Blancas is the closest family-friendly house to Big Bend National Park. It sits at the end of a long driveway, set back from the road in a quiet, safe neighborhood with protected dark skies. The patio is a good place to stargaze and slow down.
Any regular vehicle can get here. The road is all-weather, including after rain. The house is on the grid with city drinking water and standard power. You can drink the tap water.
There is one central full bathroom, plus a powder sink outside the restroom.
The house had major upgrades recently. Most of the original construction is from the 1970s. The vintage decor and historic charm are part of the stay.
We have other lodging within walking distance. Message us if you want to book more than one place for a group.

You will have access to the entire home.

We want to give you space while you are here. Use Airbnb messages for anything you need. If it is urgent, call the number in your welcome message.

Cottonwood grocery is just across the road and covers most everyday needs. The gas station in town is about one mile north on Hwy 118.
A few miles west in the ghost town you will find restaurants and bars. Big Bend Stables is about a mile north on 118 if you want a guided horseback ride.

There is a 50` HDTV.
There is a charcoal grill and a fire pit. Buy charcoal and firewood at the grocery store across the street.
A 12-cup drip coffee maker is in the kitchen and coffee + filters is provided. We stock limited shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body wash along with towels.
The kitchen has pots, pans, silverware, glassware, paper towels, dish soap, sponges, hand soap, basic spices, and olive oil. There is also a crock pot, a basic blender, and baking supplies.


Chihuahuan Desert habitat: rattlesnakes, scorpions, black widows, brown recluses, centipedes, bees, wasps, javelina (may charge), coyotes, black bears, mountain lions. Do not approach, feed, corner, or catch wildlife. Applies to kids + pets outdoors. If you see a snake on property, STAY BACK + call us!

Check out requirements:
Message us when you are departing. Pile all used sheets, towels and cloth kitchen towels on the kitchen table. Bag up and take your garbage and recycling to the dumpster up front. Make sure dishes are clean and put away, lights and AC are off. Feel free to leave behind any unsoiled food items.

Small fires only. Fires must be contained to fire pit.

NO CONFETTI ALLOWED ON PROPERTY. There will be a $100 charge for us to clean up confetti.

Pet House Rules:

This rental is pet-friendly and welcomes well-behaved dogs.
- Cats are not allowed.
- Dogs (including emotional support animals) must be declared when making a reservation (e.g., 2 guests, 1 pet). The pet fee will be added automatically.
- More than one pet? Message us in advance for case-by-case approval (additional fees may apply).
- No pets on bedding or furniture.
- Pets may not be left unattended unless crated.
- Pick up after your dog outside.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times outdoors.
- You are fully responsible for any damage or extra cleaning.
- $ 500 fine for undeclared or unapproved animals.

Smoking outside only.

No extra guests are allowed on property beyond the total number of guests that are booked on the reservation without prior permission. Anyone who will be on the property must be added to the guest count and included in the reservation.
We do have an option to add an extra guest fee for guests counts past 7, this covers water usage, trash, laundry, wear and tear as well as housekeeping.

Please be advised that use of any outdoor cooking equipment in or near any building structures (to include balconies, awnings, porches, etc.) is strictly prohibited as it presents a fire hazard. Any use of outdoor cooking equipment must take place on flat ground and a minimum of 20 ft away from any building structures on the property. Upon completion of cooking on any outdoor cooking equipment, guests must immediately and thoroughly extinguish the heat source. Guests must use caution while walking on the property, especially at night when it can be very dark. Guests need to be alert while outside to avoid tripping on rocks, or contacting local vegetation (cacti, etc.) and animals (snakes, etc.). Guests, their children, and pets are strictly prohibited from entering within 15 feet of the edge of any cliff, arroyo, crevasse, overhang or similar elevated drop off. Guests assume risk/responsibility for exploring the property.
Late checkouts without prior approval will be charged for an extra nights stay if it impacts our housekeepers ability to get in and clean on time.
