Great location

2nd time renting this property. It is spacious and comfortable. We had some minor maintenance issues but wonderful stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is in a great location by the ocean in Buxton NC. the managers of the property were super helpful and friendly. The house itself was great with 3 levels: entry floor with sitting area and bedroom/bath; second floor with kitchen living room and bedroom/bath; 3rd floor had bedroom/bath. Very clean and plenty of parking.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The roads were closed and we could not get there. I have still not heard from the insurance. I am very upset with this trip. No one has let me know anything. I can not answer this survey about the conditions of the house as the coastal storm prevented me from getting there. When you are on vacation, you cannot wait to have roads open up. Townhouses were falling into the ocean at Buxton.

Hello, Susan. We are sad to hear you couldn't make your vacation because of a sever nor'eastern storm. Also, we are disappointed to see you left us a 1-star review on items you couldn't review us on. Two homes, 45 minutes north of Buxton, fell in to the ocean during the storm due to lack of maintenance. Additionally, the state closed highway-12 to keep everyone safe from driving through parts of the road where the ocean was washing over it. We see you purchased trip insurance therefore, we highly encourage you (if you haven't already) file a claim with the trip insurance company, Rental Guardian. They can be contacted at 888-885-5550. Lighthouse View does NOT handle trip insurance claims since the insurance is with a third party. We hope to accommodate you during your next Hatteras Island vacation so you can experience our amazing property! Take care!

Another successful vacay week in Buxton

This years highlights included a little more rain than usual and extra entertainment aka dredging operations. We were very fortunate that our part of the beach was not taken over until our departure day so only had to deal with unusually dirty water when the pipes were wide open. This is our 5th season at Lighthouse View and our 2nd at Beach Retreat. Appreciate the staff who were quick to respond to AC dilemma. Highly recommend location and value as always.

The Beach Retreat cottage was ready for us, all clean and tidy, our home away from home. I would love to be able to find an armchair like the one in the living room! The kids have dubbed it “mom’s chair”. The location is great. The group of kids we take down, my sons and their friends, love that there is good eating, great breakfast goodies, groceries, and shopping within walking distance. The beach is great as is the pool and a big favorite is the hot tub time in the evening before calling it a night! We have been going down for years now and love it every year. We come home relaxed and we’ll fed. The restaurants are fantastic. The thing that always surprises me is that despite the fact that we’re only there once a year, folks remember you! Everyone is so friendly! If you’re looking for a great, really nice, comfortable, and affordable place to stay, this is it. The office staff is very helpful with whatever you might need. Give it a try. You’ll like it!

We have stayed in all of the various housing options at Lighthouse but Beach Retreat 293 gets 5 stars! The staff is friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Becky at the front desk for providing excellent customer service. Thank you for a clean, affordable and perfect setting to escape for a week of sun, sand and family memories. We look forward to making lots more memories for years to come. Buxton and Lighthouse View should be on everyone's list.

Long weekend stay.

The only drawback was the kitchen was devoid of anything other than dishes and dishwasher pods. It would be nice if there were some other cleaning products and some kitchen basics like coffee filters and salt and pepper.

Beautiful location!

Stay was great! Enjoyed the beach house and convenience of the private beach and community pool. Beach house was the standard clean and had all the kitchen appliances you could need. There is a small roach problem on the balcony and outside and 1-2 ventured into the house but nothing crazy. TV in one of the bedrooms had a slight glitch probably an easy fix we didn’t complain because my daughter watched tv in the living room. But overall we enjoyed ourselves.
