We enjoyed our stay. It’s a fun property being an old school building and they’ve added lots of for the kids and adults.

ENJOYED

This place is beautiful and we had a wonderful time. Our family needed a short getaway we have had a lot going on. This place was a little over an hour away, it was spacious, and had everything we needed. The children loved the playroom. The host answered right away whenever I emailed. We are already talking about reurning.

The Schoolhouse was very spacious, with ample driveway parking, a large open kitchen and family room, comfortable and spacious bedrooms, and updated, roomy bathrooms. While the house is beautiful, it requires more attention and care, as overall cleaning was lacking, the pool heater was not working, the outdoor grills were dirty, and the floors were squeaky. We paid a significant amount for a four-night stay and expected the property to reflect what was described. I planned this trip as a time to relax and enjoy with my family; however, I instead spent time communicating with the VRBO team to address multiple issues. While I appreciated the prompt responses and scheduling, this was not how I intended to spend my vacation.Upon returning, I followed up regarding the issues and the time they took away from my trip, and the owners did provide a small refund for the inconveniences during our stay.

Lynda, thank you for such a thoughtful review, and we're sorry. You came to relax with your family, not to spend your vacation sorting out problems with us. You were right about the cleaning, the pool heater, the grills, and the floors. We've stepped up our cleaning and pre-arrival checks, and the pool heater and grills have been taken care of. We'd love the chance to give you the easy stay you deserved.

The house was spacious with lots of fun activities for kids but it wasn't well cleaned prior to our arrival and it hadn't been well-maintained, particularly with respect to the outdoor spaces (lawn, garage, pool, etc). It has a lot of potential but needs more upkeep, especially given the pricing.

Diane, thank you for the honest feedback. We're glad the kids loved all the activities, and we're sorry the cleaning and outdoor upkeep fell short. We've added regular lawn, garage, and pool maintenance plus a pre-arrival walkthrough so the house is ready for every guest.

The host was very responsive and the house was gorgeous. However, the home was not cleaned well. We found panties in one of the bedrooms from previous guests. The outside trash receptacle was filled to overflowing upon arrival. The kitchen counters were filthy and there was a plate of old sausage links in the microwave (the door would not open). The bathroom on the main floor did not appear to have more than a surface cleaning. There was also a small leak under the kitchen sink. The indoor grill was dirty. My team and I cleaned for about 90 minutes upon arrival so that we could feel comfortable. We departed about 15 minutes after our check out time and the host was gracious.

Michigan

The property itself was beautiful and well suited for a large family or a large group. The staff was very hospitable. Unfortunately, the oven didn’t work. This was quite a bit of an issue as we had 16 family members with us and had purchased and meal prepped prior to coming so that we could do most of our meals at the location. This added quite an expense as we had to mainly eat at restaurants. We would have really appreciated prior notice. Finally, they knew that the oven did not work as evidenced by the maintenance man telling us that the parts were ordered. However, they told us when we initially notified them that we needed to trip the breakers….. which obviously would have done nothing. Other than this lack of transparency, everything else was lovely.

Tairi, thank you for this review, and we're sorry about the oven. With 16 family members and meals already prepped, that was a real burden, and you should have been told up front. The oven has since been repaired, and we now tell guests about any known issue before they arrive. We're so glad the rest of the stay was lovely.

The air conditioner was horrible. Couldnt even enjoy screen porch with the squealing units. Tiles around pool table were all cracked my grandson cut his footHad to request pool be cleaned it was so murky. Orkin, came with no warning. Lawn wasnt mowed. Weeds were a foot high. Never again the money I paid and the condition of the house were outrageous! Had to request maintenence pool table was about to fall over. Had to bring free standing air conditioners because their units werent sufficient. So they were loud and let in more humidityVrbo should not want their company attached to this dump in any way!

Margaret, we're truly sorry. Your family deserved a comfortable stay, and we're especially sorry your grandson was hurt. Thank you for telling us all of it. Since your visit we've repaired the tiles around the pool table, serviced the AC, fixed the pool table, and set up regular lawn and pool care, and we now give guests notice before any service visit.

We only were staying one night so we asked the host ahead of time if we could check in a few hours earlier to utilize all of the amenities. I was told to check back the day before which is understandable and the host would watch for my message. After messaging the night before, I never got a response except to say they were checking with the cleaning people. The cleaning people were still working on the house more than 30 minutes after our arrival. I asked for a late check out and only a discount on a full rental for the next day was available. Really disappointing when renting tues to wed.
