We had 14 adults and everyone enjoyed the lodging. Hot tub was appreciated! All bedrooms were large, beds comfortable.Only issue was stairs to big house were steep and getting to the cottage was a little unsteady and could use a railing. And the rock steps at the back of the house could use a railing.The views were outstanding, we loved the fire pit. Between the 2 houses, we couldn't take advantage of everything offered. There was plenty of room and no one ever felt crowded.We enjoyed going into town, tubing down a lazy river, s'mores by the fire and picking apples at an orchard.All 14 guest will be recommending to their friends. It was a fabulous experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Retreat and Cottage! We rented this beautiful mountain home for our 25th anniversary celebration, and it truly did not disappoint. There was plenty of room for all of our guests, and the property provided the perfect setting for such a special occasion.Faith was amazing to work with from start to finish. She was incredibly responsive, helpful, and genuinely cared about making sure the property was beautiful and that we had everything we needed for our celebration. You can tell she truly wants every guest to have a wonderful and memorable experience.The property itself is absolutely beautiful and the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We made so many special memories here celebrating our 25th anniversary, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place.I would highly recommend The Retreat and Cottage to anyone looking for a beautiful mountain getaway. We would absolutely stay here again!

This property is amazing! There was plenty of room for our family to spread out and have privacy but great gathering spaces as well. The gym was well-appointed and the sauna an amazing way to wind down the day.

We enjoyed a wonderful week at the Retreat at Oakwood! Faith was quick to respond to any questions and the houses were beautifully appointed. The Lodge deck was an absolute highlight and we spent a great deal of time enjoying the space from morning until night, rain or shine. There was plenty to do on the property to keep people of all ages entertained and happy, but we also took advantage of opportunities to tube, zip line, hike, and rail bike, using facilities that were anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes away. It is of note that the driveway to the Lodge is steep and heavy rains may have washed out some of the gravel. Most of the time we opted to park by the Cottage and walk up the stairs to the Lodge. This was shared with the host and she responded that the landscapers would look into making sure the driveway is in good condition. Thank you for a terrific family getaway!

This is a wonderful property with amazing views and furnished beautifully for our family reunion of 20. The kitchen is well stocked and there are 3 kitchens between the Lodge and Cottage which gave us all some space! There are 3 en-suite king bedrooms in the cottage and 5 king en-suites in the Main Lodge and all are beautiful! Then a bunk room and nursery room round out the space. Things to know—this area is fairly remote and about 20 min from groceries/activities. However, there is PLENTY of outdoor activities and things to do in a half-hour/hour radius. The property manager responded quickly to any questions we had - a very enjoyable stay!

This property is wonderful if you have a large group that needs several bedrooms. The was plenty of space for us to spread out and enjoy our time. The amenities such as the pool table, hot tubs, saunas, movie theater, etc. were great and we enjoyed using them. The Lodge kitchen was well stocked and the seating for dining and in the living rooms was plentiful. The beds were comfortable and the temperature control was great. There were a couple of items that are worth noting. There are no window coverings on the main floor of the Lodge, making it impossible to cook, sit at the dinner table or watch TV without a terrible glare or the sun blinding you. Optional blinds or curtains to draw would have made it better. The water pressure at the Lodge is mediocre and all the showers only have rain heads and not a spray head, so showers were sprinkles at best. The driveway to the Lodge is VERY steep and slippery due to being only rocks. I emailed the host, Faith (who is very communicative and helpful) about these issues after our stay and she immediately responded and instead of being defensive, was very receptive and said they would work to address these issues for future guests and that the driveway was being paved that day. I do suggest that guests bring bear deterrent such as an air horn or bear spray because we did see a bear near the cottage the first day which made traveling between the houses a bit scary. I can recommend staying here, but just note those few items.

We all had a wonderful time here! The houses are even more beautiful in person. We enjoyed playing pool, shuffle board, chess and checkers, sitting at the table playing card games, hot tub and exploring some of Georgia. More than enough space for our extended family of 15.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. Our family had an incredible time and enjoyed our weekend stay for a family reunion. We enjoyed playing all the games, sharing meals together, and watching movies! The saunas and gym were also a huge bonus. We had plenty of room and the home was very clean and we had everything we needed. With the town of Ellijay close by, we were able to enjoy the quaint downtown, go tubing on the river, and play pickleball at the community park. We hope to come back again.

Everything was perfect. The spaciousness, the quality and care taken to make the house exceptional. The little things like dog treats and poop bags, condiments and spices. The beds were comfortable and each one having its own ensuite made everyone feel like they had the best room. The views are amazing, the outdoor area fun, and the wildlife was a great added perk. I don’t have one thing negative to say. This is by far the best VRBO rental I’ve ever made.
