Cottage beside a waterfall

About this space
Our 1840’s renovated grist mill is located in the beautiful Monadnock Region. The house and cottage are situated on twelve acres and includes gardens, an orchard, berry bushes, grape vines, beehives, a dog, and a tremendous waterfall. We are close to many of nature’s gems including Mount Monadnock, Pack Monadnock, the Heald Tract hiking trails, skiing, snowshoeing and swimming. Also the acclaimed MacDowell Arts Center, Andy’s Summer Playhouse, Andres Institute of Art and the Waldorf Schools.
The space
The cottage is a very peaceful space with a private entrance and a porch to view the waterfall and the magnificent trees and gardens. With built-in desks, well-lit workspaces, and excellent Wifi, there is ample ergonomic space for writing, sewing, working, and artwork.

It comes with a full bath (antique clawfoot tub with a handheld showerhead), a mini refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, and a microwave oven. The cottage is nearby the main house, but when you are inside or on your private porch, you feel like you are alone in a very secluded space - which you are. The cottage has been used as an artist studio, so there is room for creating. The porch is the perfect place to read or sip your morning beverage, and it is tranquil with the sound of the waterfall, adding a calming presence.

We welcome you to explore the property, swim in the waterfall, and pick a peach or two!

While we love dogs and have a friendly Great Dane at the Old Mill, regrettably, we cannot welcome guests to bring their pets.

Perfectly nestled by the waterfall with several varied seating areas by the river to enjoy the sound of falls and the surrounding woods. Private back deck overlooking the river was just the place to sit and enjoy our morning coffee and end-of-day beverage. Cottage was very comfortable and just right for our brief weekend getaway. Hosts were very responsive to the few questions we had. Absolutely would book again.

This a wonderful oasis with a separate cottage with porch overlooking gardens, woods, and a rocky waterfall. It doesn't get much better than this. The hosts were friendly and helpful (recommending a great breakfast spot.)The bed was more comfortable than mine at home.

Waterfall Cottage

The location was amazing. The cottage was cute, cozy, well appointed. The bed was super comfortable. Falling asleep to the waterfall sounds was similar to sleeping to ocean waves. Next time we visit NH we will certainly try to stay here again.

We had a lovely visit in Wilton and were granted the special privilege of seeing and hearing the waterfall and associated pools fill up with water overnight due to heavy thunder showers after a long dry spell. Magical, indeed.Cottage is a special little place! We hope to be back at another time of year.

The property is gorgeous! I booked this specifically for the waterfall. There is also a large garden area to walk around. The stone wall in the Bedroom & Bathroom is unique & beautiful and also helps to keep the room cooler. There is a ceiling fan which we needed since it was 91 degrees when we were there. There is no A/C. The outside porch is lovely for sitting & watching the river. PLEASE read all of the instructions for check in, specifically the part for access. I had 2 VRBO for over 10 years & met my guests. You are to find your way here. I was very consumed with my daughter's wedding details & missed the specifics for gaining access. We booked both properties & this one is attached to the main house. It was fine for us, but if someone wanted more privacy the cottage is separate from the house. The bathroom is down the hall, not directly in the room. I would absolutely stay here again, especially now that I know how to get there, get in & where everything is. Again the river & waterfall area was fabulous & where we spent all our time when not doing wedding stuff.

A unique stay in a somewhat funky artist's quarters beside a brook with a beautiful waterfall and calm pools. Great outdoor seating, especially the balcony that overlooks the stream, waterfall and grounds. A rural setting but close to Peterborough, a progressive town with fun shopping and restaurants.The amenities at this stay are fine but a bit limited. Wi fi is good. There is no kitchen but a small fridge and microwave are provided as well as a toaster and a single, plug-in electric burner. Only one sink, in the bathroom, that is used for kitchen tasks as well.Love the claw-foot bathtub! But it can be tricky getting in and out of the tub. Also, there is no standard shower head on the wall. Instead, there's a hand-held shower head to use.Overall a fun place with just a few things to be mindful of.

We’re near a Waldorf School. We’re also very close to Sheldrick Forest, a great place to take a hike. It connects to the Heald Trail for miles more hiking if you wish.
