Shepherd's Wagon #1 near Mt Rushmore
Shepherd's Wagons were originally built to shelter shepherds in remote grazing areas. These huts preserve the past while offering a cozy retreat. While you won’t be roughing it like the shepherds once did, you’ll still experience their way of life. Each wagon includes a metal tub, once used for washing, storage, and feeding the herd, along with a mess kit, gas stove, composting toilet, and a port-a-potty for convenience. To add a modern touch, solar-powered lights brighten your stay.
The space
Escape the rush of modern life and reconnect with nature in our charming shepherds' huts. These cozy retreats offer a slower pace, a break from electronics, and a chance to fully embrace the beauty of the outdoors.
Each hut is thoughtfully equipped with:
- A full-sized bed with sheets, a blanket, and pillows
- Heat for chilly nights
- A gas stove for easy meal prep
- A mess kit for your dining needs
- A fire pit for gathering under the stars
- A composting toilet
- A port-a-potty dedicated to the four shepherds' huts
- A shared campground bathroom/shower
- Solar lights for a warm, ambient glow
-Please bring your own towels.
-Please note that these units are off-grid and do not have any plug-ins
-Please not there is about a 25 yard walk to get from the parking area to the sheep wagons
Nestled within Cloud Nine Camping's stunning 33-acre property, you’ll be surrounded by towering oaks, pines, wildlife, and National Forest on three sides. The backside of the property connects to miles of scenic hiking trails within the forest, perfect for exploring.
