Thank you for recognizing that the home was very clean, conveniently located, & that we accommodated your request for an early arrival. Our normal check-in time is 4 pm, but as a courtesy, we allowed access at approximately 11 am to help with your child’s college move-in and belongings. We would like to clarify the timeline regarding the AC. Although the home was accessed at approximately 11 am, we were not notified of any issue until approximately 5:30 pm. Once we were made aware, we acted immediately and arranged for an HVAC technician to come to the property after normal business hours. The AC was repaired and operational within approximately three hours of the issue being reported. We understand that after a home reaches a high indoor temperature, it takes time for the temperature to gradually come back down. The guests chose to obtain hotel rooms that evening, although the AC had been repaired by approximately 9 pm and the home remained available to them and continued to be used for their belongings throughout the reservation. Given our immediate response, the after-hours service we arranged, and the fact that the issue was resolved within hours of being reported, we did not feel that refunding an entire night was warranted. Unexpected maintenance issues can arise without warning in any home. While we can’t always prevent an unexpected mechanical failure, we can control how we respond, & in this instance, we acted immediately and had it resolved within hours.
