To avoid surprise pet fees in the future, be sure you check the box to say that you are bringing pets when you make your reservation. That automatically applies the fee so you know what you’re paying upfront. It’s also important for hosts to know ahead of time that you’re bringing a pet so they can plan the cleaning accordingly. For example, there was a strong odor and a great deal of dog hair in the beds that I didn’t know to plan for when I showed up to clean the house. I’ll definitely take your safety concerns into consideration. To clarify for future guests, there were sand spurs in the backyard. We had them completely removed in the spring, but they grew right back. We have a more permanent plan for removal this off-season so they will hopefully be gone for good by spring of 2027! The decking leading to the back patio is only a few inches off the ground so I didn’t feel a full railing was necessary. The 1 step down to the front bedroom is the same, only a few inches and marked with reflective caution tape so I didn’t feel a handrail was necessary there either. The rugs throughout the house do actually have nonstick backing with the exception of the living room rug, which has a heavy coffee table on it so, once again, I didn’t think that would be necessary there as it does not slide around. I do appreciate you bringing these concerns to my attention and I’ll consider updating those things in the future.
