This pool house near Lake Michigan is only two blocks from desirable Whittaker Street and walkable to everything New Buffalo has to offer including the beach, restaurants, shopping, kayaking, bike trails, and so much more! You’ll feel like a local in this centrally located cottage tucked onto a quiet, well-established street surrounded by trees. You will enjoy a private escape while still being close to all the action in downtown New Buffalo. It’s an ideal getaway for a family vacation or a reunion trip with friends. Inside, the main living space is filled with natural light courtesy of the bay windows, refinished hardwood floors. With an oversized sectional, it’s a hub for gathering any time of day and features a smart TV with streaming capabilities, as well as many books and games for kids and adults. The well-equipped cottage style full kitchen is updated with new Corian countertops & stainless-steel appliances. The large adjacent dining room with seating for eight is perfect for gathering at mealtimes, working a puzzle or playing games. When the weather allows, step outside to the furnished patio, fire up the grill, and dine al fresco under the patio dining table umbrella. The main level bedroom & full bath is perfect for individuals that prefer not to climb stairs and provides a great view of the backyard pool and landscaping. Overall, such a positive experience at this home. The home was spacious and clean with lots of charm. We had plenty of space and really enjoyed our visit, would stay again!

Great location

Loved the hot tub! We really enjoyed how the rooms were decorated. The house was within walking distance of local breweries and boutiques. Made for a great weekend.

Awesome Property!

This home was simply awesome. The home was clean with lots of amenities & a great location to everything New Buffalo has to offer. There was even a brand new hot tub on the back patio. We will definitely stay at Merchant Street Retreat again!

Cute home and fabulous location

This was our 3rd time staying at MSR and we love it! Super cute home and the location is perfect. We love the short walk to David’s each morning for coffee & breakfast and being close enough to Barney’s to send the kids on a grocery run. Beach, kayaking, strawberry or blueberry picking, hiking, sand dunes, shopping in New Buffalo & Three Oaks and dining at Brewster’s and Beer Church are our favorite activities.

Fall break

Great location . Easy to walk to downtown and it other great shops, restaurants and the beach. The house is an older home and could have used a little more deep cleaning. Hot tub was a good addition.

Girls Weekend

My friends and I stayed here for a weekend away and had a great time! The house was overall very clean and well stocked with whatever things you may need. Once we arrived we never had to drive. The house is very walkable to all the shops, restaurants and bars as well as the beach. This was a huge perk! We would stay again. Perfect for an adult weekend away or for two families with kids!

Sweet House, Perfect Location

Booked a two-night stay with my family who came from across the world and absolutely loved it! We were doing a meet-the-parents thing and it was a perfect location for both my and my partner's families to meet. Super short walk to the stores/main street and beach, we cooked every meal there (the kitchen was well stocked with essential pans/utensils etc), the yard/outdoor space was incredible, and the fire pit was lovely. The house itself was updated but still had its old-house charm, and the mud room is literally a dream. Everything that you could ask for a getaway and more - thanks for the best weekend!

Great location

The house was clean and within walking distance to town. The outside area was a great place to have a fire or go in the clean hottub! Vacasa was easy to communicate with. House was older, but very comfortable. Could use a few extra blankets in the living room for movie nights. Upstairs bedrooms get a little warm, but they do have window air-conditioners, that we used. Great accommodations, for a girls get- away!

Really cute house. Good location. Beds were great. Tempurpedic? Loved hot tub and yard. Had a bonfire. Looked everywhere for a cutting board. Liked the skylight, but woke up too early. I retesting two-headed shower upstairs. Thx!

Great location property needs updating

Outstanding location on a quiet street. Green backyard with fire pit, patio & grill. Beach umbrellas & chairs for usage at the beach. Very narrow & creaky stairs leading to upstairs sleeping area. Kitchen & baths need updating. Air conditioner in master bedroom/bath is on the floor making for an odd arrangement.

Booked this place for a girls wine trip and it was so much fun. So close to all the bars, we loved walking everywhere! We enjoyed the hot tub both nights and had everything we needed. It was big enough for the 8 of us although the only issue was parking. Some friends came in later than others and no where to park! The parking lot the management suggested was a few minutes away at a park and super sketchy to leave your car there at night especially since it’s the only one. I would definitely book this place again as long as we only have 3 vehicles showing up!

Lets start with the pros:The location of this property could not be better. Close to the stores, restaurants and beach. Being on a quiet side street with parking included was also very convenient. The backyard is amazing. The heated pool, hot tub and grill area was perfect for our family trip! The house is very well stocked. Soaps in bathrooms, towels for pool/beach, kitchen items for cooking. I texted some questions to the management team and they were very quick to respond and help. As far as constructive feedback:The house is older and the stairs are steep. Having little unstable kids with me was concerning. The a/c on the main floor was great. The a/c upstairs was harder to navigate. The room with all the beds has an in window unit. We couldn't get it it continue to run. It would reach the desired temp then the cold air stopped and the fan would continue. The other bedroom upstairs had an in window unit in the bathroom but not bedroom. That room got quite hot especially because there is a sky light. If you like to wake up with the sun - that room is for you! We only had one working shower despite having 2 bathrooms. The diverter in the main floor bathroom was covered in duct tape so you can only use the tub (which we did not use). One shower with 5 people was a challenge. We didn't spend much time IN the house. We used the location to poke around downtown and used the outdoor space often. All in all we enjoyed the trip.
