The home was built in 1948 and has a lot of charm. Sitting outside is very pleasant. Several things guests should know:Dishwasher does not work, you must hand wash all dishes, 4 place settings are provided, so you wash after every meal, but she will provide more if you request, ice maker and water in fridge do not work, bring ice, host lives on property and will inform you about infringements, for example, if you use the downstairs toilet for more than #1, she then tells you to only use the upstairs bathroom for #2. Don't park on an inch of grass, must park on gravel only. Do not touch any blinds. Do not use hair dryer, it will trip electrical circuit and then you have to contact her to reset it. Airport is near and the house is under a flight path. Using the very nice outdoor patio requires halting conversation every minute or two during busy times at the airport. The kitchen ceiling light has places for 4 bulbs, but 2 were missing and not replaced and then another burned out during our stay. We did finally find some replacement bulbs that did not match the others. There are two chairs on the front porch which would be nice to sit in except they are totally corroded by weather and an arm is broken on one making it a death trap. Looks nice, though.Front door has ivy growing across it but this is the door where key pad is.

Elizabeth is correct, the house is near an airport, has expensive equipment needing repairs and is not a new home. She is also correct in that the home is painted with ivy. Elizabeth was also correct in that if she had needed anything during her stay, she had the ability to ask. She chose not to. Elizabeth violated Vrbo rules, broke items in the house, and wrote a retaliatory review of her vacation home after she was confronted about the damages she was well aware she caused. Elizabeth is no longer welcome in this house. Hosts be warned this is a Karen.

The location of this property is stellar. The home was comfortable & inviting. The downside to our stay was receiving a “report card” text almost daily about our vacation behavior from the host who lives on site.

I’m sorry the stay didn’t fully meet your expectations. Our listing clearly states that the host lives on-site, and guests agree to quiet hours and to respect private areas of the home. During your stay, there were multiple instances in which those boundaries were crossed, including entering my private space despite it being clearly marked. Even so, I worked to make your family’s visit comfortable, including purchasing an additional window air conditioner for your mother’s comfort. I wish you and your family the best.

We enjoyed our stay at “The Bird House”. The property is surrounded by trees, has a beautiful view of the lake, and felt very peaceful. We saw lots of wildlife during our visit - deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, a toad, and even a turtle - which made the setting especially charming. The kitchen was also very well stocked with tools, and the large dining area with a big table was great for meals and having guests.The location is very central and convenient, while still feeling tucked away in nature. The host was extremely communicative, and although she lives in a basement apartment, we did not hear her coming and going.The home has a lot of character and feels more quaint than modern, so expect some creaks and an older cottage feel. Although the listing states it is wheelchair accessible, there are two large steps to enter the home, and both bedrooms are upstairs. Thankfully, there is a large comfortable couch downstairs. Because the property is very private, there are no window coverings, which took a little getting used to. Also, the central location does mean some airplane noise.Overall, this is a charming, well-located lake house with a lot of natural beauty, a well-equipped kitchen, and a very attentive host.
