Our romantic thatched-roof house, built around 1900, is centrally located yet still in a quiet setting. It consists of two separate sections. Here, you’ll find both relaxation and rejuvenation. Start your day with breakfast in the sun-drenched living and dining room or on the terrace. The kitchen, equipped with an electric stove and a large refrigerator, offers everything you need for an affordable self-catering stay. The bathroom features a toilet, shower, and a washing machine. Of course, bed linens and towels are included. Return to your accommodation after an eventful day and spend the summer evening barbecuing on the terrace. As darkness falls, solar lamps create a charming atmosphere. On cool summer evenings—and even in winter—a wood-burning stove provides cozy warmth.

Cultural and other highlights: Cultural highlights in this region during the summer months include the Darß-Classiks (open-air concerts) at the harbor in Prerow (9 km), the Darß Festival (open-air theater), and the plays performed in July and August in the theater garden of the Barther Boddenbühne (26 km). Another must-see is the “Tonnenabschlagen,” a horseback riding festival that takes place in Born on the first Sunday in August. You can also enjoy concerts, theater performances, and readings at the Borner Sommertheater or in the thatched-roof Fischerkirche. Similar events also take place in all the surrounding towns. At the annual Ahrenshoop Art Auction, you can cap off your vacation with a sculpture or a watercolor—or simply marvel at the artwork in one of the many galleries, both large and small. A special highlight is the Hanse-Sail Rostock-Warnemünde (60 km), which takes place every July. In the fall, crane migrations offer unforgettable nature experiences.

Excursions and museums: You can enjoy Germany’s only amber sauna at the Boddentherme in Ribnitz-Damgarten (30 km). Here, an amber museum and an amber workshop also invite you to visit.
Another worthwhile destination is the Hanseatic city of Stralsund (55 km), with its buildings in the North German Brick Gothic style, the Maritime Museum, and the unique Ozeaneum. From here, you can reach Rügen, Germany’s largest island, via the imposing Rügendamm Bridge. To the west, the port city of Rostock (60 km) is well worth a visit. Here, too, you’ll find examples of Hanseatic architecture. Be amazed by the huge ocean liners on a harbor tour, or set sail on one of the many former fishing boats. From Rostock, day trips to Denmark or Sweden are a great option. In addition, the cities of Lübeck (2 hours by car) and Hamburg (3 hours by car) are easily accessible via Highway 24. The Marlow Bird Park (50 km) offers pure nature.
