Things to explore—among many other options:
From here, you can set out on a variety of activities or simply enjoy the surrounding nature.
Ockenfels is located between the cities of Bonn and Koblenz, which can be easily reached by train in 40 minutes and 1 hour, respectively. The city of Cologne can also be reached in about 1 hour. The train station is about a 10-minute walk away.
It’s also the perfect starting point for bike tours and hikes in the Siebengebirge as well as the Rhine and Ahr valleys.
Boat tours along the Rhine, as well as taking the Rhine ferry for hikes and excursions to the opposite bank—for example, to the spa towns of Ahrweiler and Bad Neuenahr with their beautiful vineyards and hiking trails—are accessible directly from the promenade.
Shopping, the Rhine promenade, and the Linz outdoor pool are all just a few minutes’ drive away. But the Erpeler Ley with its breathtaking panorama, the Drachenfels and Drachenburg, the Kasbachtalbahn, the Römerwelt in Rheinbrohl, the Kristalltherme in Bad Hönningen, the Willy-Brandt Forum in Unkel, the Peace Museum in Remagen, and much more are also not far away.
