Great property and host

Stayed here for a couple of nights in May 2023. Great location in Tamarindo. Close enough to everything, far enough from the noise and crowds. Beautiful views from the patio area. Very friendly host.

Perfect Getaway

Casa Monacita was a beautiful place to stay, and only a 10 minute walk to the ocean. So clean and a lovely view. Mona and her assistant were so helpful — we couldn’t have asked for better hosts. 10/10 would stay here again :)

Stunning Views from all Levels of the Property

Had an amazing time staying at Casa Monacita. Such a beautiful location and layout. Mona made the stay even better because she is so helpful and accessible and accommodating. I loved being so close to the beach but it as a quiet escape. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful view and a great get away

Mona was very accommodating and the property offered great AC, laundry, WiFi, and a quiet, peaceful location with howler monkey sightings. It is uphill, which makes for a great view, and while very manageable for the modestly fit individual, I would recommend a taxi or car if you have luggage, or walking uphill on a dirt road isn’t your thing. Mona is fantastic and the vibe is great! Awesome value and would absolutely stay again.

A slice of paradise

The casita was very clean and private. There was much outdoor space for relaxing with gorgeous views and the pool was perfect for cooling off. Monkeys came to visit most days in the trees right outside our room. As others have mentioned the hill leading to the casa was quite steep and rugged, we chose to drive our rental car to town. Mona is a delight and so helpful and quick to respond. Highly recommend!

Amazing Stay

My husband and I had such a wonderful stay. Mona was very responsive when I had questions and was more than accommodating. The best part was waking up to the monkeys right next to our room in the tree. The room was comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. The view up on the mountain is breathtaking and the sunsets were surreal. The busy little town of Tamarindo is a short 10 minute walk away. Be prepared to walk up and down a rather steep hill to get from your room to the beach. It was worth the uphill walks because we were able to enjoy the nature and sunsets on the mountain. We had a fabulous time and can’t wait to visit again.

Pura Vida Monacita

Mona was an awesome hostess. Her place was a paradise, very clean, and the views were just gorgeous. I rented a car (as I always do) and it was about a two minute drive for my sunrise walk on the beach and breakfast (this place was her recommendation) afterward almost every day. It was perfect for me and my stay.

Great spot right above Tamarindo

Mona was great! Place had beautiful views and great outdoor space to relax. Would recommend for a Tamarindo stay. Great surfing and beach is a short walk.

Home away from home

Wonderful property to stay at. Felt very comfortable. Loved the pool and the view. Very quiet location and had all the comforts we needed. The one, very small item that I did not like was the steep hill. Wasn't something I could manage walking comfortably so having a vehicle was important. Mona, our host, is lovely - so kind and caring. Miguel who looked after cleaning and maintenance was always available to help, drive, or get us anything we needed. Truly enjoyed our stay so much that we changed the last few days of our travels to go back and relax by the pool before heading home. Would definitely stay here again.

Big oops!

It’s hard to give a proper rating because… We were excited to stay here but got stood up during check-in. We’ve been in communication days before with Mona and told her when we would arrive. No one was there and we waited 1.5 hours for someone to show up. We texted and called multiple times. We ended up asking for a full refund and checked ourselves at a close by resort because it was getting dark and we don’t know the area. . She apologized many times and credited us our money back with an extra $50 for our troubles. It turns out that her assistant was supposed to show up and they didn’t. We think Mona is sincere and all the other reviews love her. Maybe she needs a new assistant? All we know is that we ended up spending twice as much at a resort that wasn’t in our planned budget. Although, it was very nice and we loved it. Oh well!

Paradise

Mona and her proper are both so beautiful! She is truly and incredible host and was beyond friendly, accommodating, and supportive. The stay is perfect if you was a minor seclusion from being right in town, with a super easy walking distance to everything (though prepare to gain some muscle strength walking up and down a hill 😉). I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a place in the area!

Tranquil oasis

We enjoyed hanging out there and dipping in the pool, then walking down the hill to go surfing and shop or eat at many restaurants. Mona is really nice and speaks excellent English. Monkeys and all kinds of birds are observed from the deck in front of the Casa. Truly a lovely experience!

Perfect view close to the action but far enough away

Great outdoor spaces with an ocean view. Many birds and a visit from howler monkeys. Short hill walk down to the beach. Recommend!

A Great Find!

The team at Casa Monacita are amazing: helpful; accommodating; entertaining. The location was perfect for us. A little bit off the beach but within walking distance of surf, sand, good food. Very doable for these two seniors! We enjoyed hanging out in the hammocks in the shade and enjoying the view before a refreshing dip in the small but picaresque pool. And the view!!!! This place is a repeater!!!

Exceptional hosting & great property!!

We had such an amazing time here!! Mona & Miguel went out of their way to make sure we were beyond taken care of. Our group of 9 adults loved the property and was perfect for our adventure. The place has magical sunsets on the terrace (we recommend grilling out up there), the pool is refreshing and an amazing place to hang during the hot sun, and you can see monkeys, iguanas and more roam the property. Yes, there are stairs and anyone who gives a 1 star review based on that should not be considered... It is Costa Rica, there are stairs and uneven ground everywhere!! Mona made sure we had access to surfboard lessons/rentals, excellent tours and transportation when needed. When we come back to Tamarindo, we are definitely staying here again!! Much love from Detroit ❤️

First off - thank you for your interest in my Casa!!
My name is Mona and, born and raised in Germany and have been living in Costa Rica since 2018.
Prior to coming to Costa Rica, I had the opportunity to live in the US for about 10 years, pursuing my career as Global Account Manager for one of the leading PC manufacturers.
While moving back and forth between the US East & West Coasts, a long needed vacation - in form of a kickboxing 'reboot' camp - took me to Tamarindo for the first time in 2013.
Despite having traveled the world quite a bit, it didn't take long to realize that this must be one of the most beautiful spots in the world! Beautiful not only in terms of scenery but also very much for its great people and relaxed lifestyle.
Taking in the 'Pura Vida' spirit has been a truly life changing experience for which I couldn't be more grateful.

It's one of those 'it all started as a crazy idea' stories... Needless to say that I fell in love with the Casa the first time saw it, being impressed by it's solid built, great location and views.
From the first visit, it took only 4 more months until I proudly waved MY keys in the air.
Despite usually not leaving investment activities to fate, it was a truly 'meant to be' experience.

This property excelled expectations on so many levels - walking distance to the beach, breathtaking views from EVERY part of the house, homely atmosphere, solid construction, seemingly endless potential.... all in my favorite place in the world - Tamarindo.
