The View!

The chalet is breathtaking. Great location. Great views. Great host. It exceeded our expectations and we felt grateful to have been able to stay there. There is a grocery store within walking distance and many restaurants.

Breathtaking Villa

What an amazing villa in Mürren. My family spent a week here and we had a wonderful time. The villa is beautiful, the views and all the amenities were perfect. The little town itself is wonderful and we were able to cook in one night getting food from the local market. Sarah was an awesome host and we would go back again. Switzerland was amazing!

Best view and hiking of 14 day trip to Switzerland

Thank you to our hosts for an amazing stay in Murren! The view from the patio was absolutely amazing and is burned into my memory.The truly hand crafted Chalet lived up to its expectations and easily accommodated our family of 9 adults ranging from 21 to 82 years of age.At the end of each day's hiking (just leaving the Chalet added a great hike in and out) the sauna and hot tub were great hits.Thank you again to our wonderful hosts!

Chalet Sofia

Sarah Jane and Peter were amazing hosts at their beautiful property. The views and the comfort of the chalet were the best we have ever had. We felt very at home and feel as if we have made two new good friends! The only regret we had was that we could not stay even longer in magical Mürren!

A Family High

Enjoying family time at Chateau Sophia was a fantastic way to spend five days. We spent many hours just relaxing in that beautiful home, and there were also fun excursions close by. I cannot imagine a more beautiful, setting for a family get together, and Sarah Jane was most accommodating to any of our questions.

Chalet Sofia was a dream. A big beautiful house on the edge of Murren - by Swiss vacation venue standards - a somewhat sleepy car-free town with plenty to do without have to fight hoards of vacationers. The house is beautifully built with several bedrooms, baths, laundry, a well appointed kitchen/great room and decks surrounding the chalet. The home is directly across from the Eiger, Moench, and Jungfrau - a scene you can never tire from. The owner has a manager in town that met us and was available to answer any questions quickly. After a week there, the family had mixed emotions about leaving… we had a great time but wanted to stay longer. This is a real find, hope to return!

Lovely chalet with breathtaking views

This is a lovely chalet owned by a lovely family. The owners treated us like friends, gave us great local advice about restaurants, and set up a Christmas tree and Christmas decorations for us. The chalet itself is one of a kind, beautifully built and tasteful with a warm cozy feeling and many separate acoustical spaces so that large families can gather yet also have secluded places for reading or practicing instruments, etc. The views are breathtaking. The feel is one of a lovely family home rather than a typical bland, characterless ski cabin rental. The kitchen is amazingly equipped, the hot tub is perfect temperature, the sauna is lovely. We felt so lucky to have that time there.

Chalet Sofia gives you the essence of Switzerland

9 family members from the United States spent 5 nights in Chalet Sofia. The owner Sarah-Jane was very helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. The Chalet is wonderful and the views from the entire home are breathtaking and beautiful. The property manager met us at the train station and helped us transport all the luggage up the hill to the Chalet and stayed to ensure everything worked properly and that we had everything we needed. He called us several times throughout the week to see if we had any questions or concerns. The chalet was a wonderful base for our daily adventures and it provided an amazing backdrop for the wedding pictures for our daughter and son-in-laws vow renewal. Sarah-Jane thank you for sharing this amazing location with us for being such a kind and caring host.

Month in Murren

This house couldn’t have been better for our gatherings of friends and family. We had rotating groups visit us weekly while we pretended to live in Switzerland for a month. The house is just as advertised and was GREAT for us and our guests. Many beautiful hikes on this side of the valley with little or no transportation needed. Hard to peel ourselves away from the views from the porches, but also many restaurants to choose from. Would not improve on anything except the short, steep walk from the road to the house. Looks like surveyors were out so perhaps there will be a solution for a smoother walk up in the near future. Wish we were skiers as the house is well equipped for the winter season with boot warmers and jacuzzi and sauna!

Fabulous house for a large family!!

Chalet Sofia is a perfect house for a large family/group. There are lots of bedrooms and areas for people to spread out and also have privacy. The views from the balcony are spectacular and the extremely large farm table in the dining room was great. Our family was very comfortable in the big open living area. We had 8 adults, 3 young children & 2 babies. We discussed this with Sarah Jane prior to booking and she had concerns about the number of children. There is a big open staircase that runs through all 3 floors of the house and it’s not really childproof. We assured her that we would take very good care of everything and indeed we did that and made sure the kids ate only at the table as requested. Sarah Jane was also so kind to purchase 2 baby cribs for the house for the babies. There is no high chair. Overall, we didn’t have any issues with the children, the house was great for everyone. The house manager met us and was very helpful with the luggage. The only disappointment was that the house wasn’t quite ready for us. None of the beds were made and none of the bathrooms had towels. The washer & dryer were filled with other laundry and we had to hang it up so we could use the W&D ourselves. There were not enough clean towels for everyone and we had to share. Be aware that the dryer takes hours to dry your clothes, so you need to hang them to dry overnight. Also, there was no mid-week cleaning per our cleaning deposit. I would recommend this house!!

We do not have enough superlatives to express our stay at Chalet Sofia. The hosts, Sarah and Peter, were informative, supportive (even met us at the Gondola to transport our luggage by bike cart to the Chalet, and the same upon leaving), kind and helpful in every respect. The Chalet itself is magnificent. An elegant, classic, beautifully designed and built home, with every feature carefully thought through. The Chalet is supplied with everything you might need; we cooked in the kitchen almost nightly and we lacked nothing. There are more than enough bathrooms, bedrooms, private porches and a huge kitchen and dining room table for our family group of eleven. The views are surreal, with the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau seemingly in touching distance. The village of Murren is delightful, with hiking and running trails galore through the amazing countryside. There are amazing playgrounds everywhere for kids. We hiked, swam, parasailed, took a day trip to the Jungfraujoch and relaxed on the beautiful porches, taking in magnificent views. We feel privileged to have spent 8 nights in such a beautiful place, and look forward to going back one day.

Absolutely beautiful chalet with stunning views of the Alps! We fell in love with Murren when we visited on our last trip and were so thrilled to stay at Chalet Sofia for the week of all our hiking adventures. It is beautifully designed and well appointed- maintaining authentic Swiss charm with all the modern amenities. The private hot tub and sauna were a perfect way to relax after hiking. We loved sitting out on one of the balconies, taking in the incredible views, surrounded by alpine flowers, listening to birds and the nearby waterfall. Our host was just lovely- offering assistance and recommendations for hikes and restaurants- even at our second location in Zermatt. The real magic of Murren begins after the crowds have gone. The peaceful evenings, breathtaking alpine views, and quiet beauty make it one of the most unforgettable places we’ve ever stayed.We are so grateful to have been able to spend it at Chalet Sofia.

Our stay was heavenly!

My husband and I and eight of our friends had a fabulous five night stay! Murren is a stunning mountain village with its view of the Monch, Jungfrau and Eiger. If you want to enjoy those views from the large, furnished wrap-around decks of the most stunning home ever, choose Chalet Sofia! We booked our stay over a year in advance. Sarah Jane was wonderful to work with ahead of our stay, whenever I had questions, and she was a great hostess while we were there. She met us at the train station, helped porter our bags up to the home, gave us some special bottles of wine as a welcome gift, provided some tips on the best hikes to take, and made sure we knew how to contact her if any questions arose. One member of our group needed to see a doctor while we were there and Sarah Jane gave us wonderful advice on that. My husband and I have been traveling in Europe for 17 years and this is the most beautiful place we’ve ever stayed. The home was perfect for our large group. It’s very spacious but manages to convey a cozy chalet ambiance because of the all-wood interior and comfy furnishings. It was equipped with absolutely everything we could have possibly needed. The home is situated on the end of town near the train station, making it very convenient for us to get up and down the mountain for our daily excursions. We had beautiful weather while we were in Murren and were out and about each day, but by late afternoon, we were anxious to get back to our beautiful home, to prepare a meal together in the gourmet kitchen (with food purchased at the very-well stocked Coop that was a ten minute walk away), and enjoy our feast while all sitting together at the large dining table. We made such wonderful memories here!

Final stop of European Vacation

The property manager met us at the train station and walked us through the check in process. The property is well maintained and matches the online description. The views are amazing! Having coffee in the morning on the deck was the perfect start to the day in the Alps! We had enough space for our families, (6 teenagers and 5 adults). We were lucky enough to have Helder prepare an amazing meal for a birthday celebration! All in all this was the perfect end to our vacation!

Birthday trip to Murren

This place is a true gem. We were a group of 6 friends celebrating a birthday and were there for a week; we could not have asked for a better host and home. The house is so thoughtfully set up with plenty of nooks to hang out and enjoy the views. We ate breakfast each morning outside on the deck and sat around the wood burning fire in the living room each night. Sarah-Jane was such an excellent host and arranged for our birthday dinner at a local hotel and was so helpful in pre-planning answering all of our questions. She picked us up from the train station in town and walked us to the chalet – while our luggage arrived a short time later. All in all, we cannot wait to go back to this magical place!

Swiss style chalet at its best

We were lucky to be able to have a 10 day stay with close friends we had spent significant time with due to the pandemic. Chalet Sofia was the perfect place to reunite. Chalet Sofia’s hosts were fabulous. All food and other deliveries ordered ahead of time was nicely put away when we arrived. They arranged a wonderful birthday reservation at a local restaurant. Lots of other little touches made us feel very welcome. We were met at the train station to handle all the luggage and also when we left. Communication and follow up was great. The house is very well designed and offers a lot of amenities in a practical layout over three floors. It feels homely the moment you enter. The wifi connection was superb on all floors. The ski room features a heated boot drying rack. The bedrooms are large and comfortable with direct access to the balcony. There are numerous amazing places, inside and out on the different terraces, that allows everyone to spread out or come together. Despite being February, we had many lunches on the terrace in the sun. We loved the wellness area with sauna und bar, and the jacuzzi ended up being much used and a perfect place to catchup on all the overdue conversations. The kitchen was well stocked with more condiments and basics than one would expect and the two dishwashers are a plus. The dining and living area is a colossal space with a large fireplace. You won’t miss much in this house, even a laundry chute is there. Most spectacular are the stunning unobstructed sights over the valley onto the famous Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau mountains. Just incredible. Chalet Sofia is impressive and one of a kind. This is a loved and well maintained property. Swiss style chalet at its best. And the views are amazing. If you get a chance to stay here, it is more than just worth it!

Epic Property

This was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. House was in excellent shape, views incredible - some of the best i have every had and I have been out west and to alps many times - and Murren is beautiful without the comercial development of other locations in this area. The owner was very helpful, and ended up as our chef and mountain guide as well. We had multiple amazing hikes while we were there 6/25/21-7/4/21. I would recomend this property to anyone looking for a great place to go hiking and enjoy the alps. I would think skiing would be great, but can not comment on that since we visited in the summer. To enjoy this property you should be in good physical shape as it does require walking up the equivilent of a 3-4 story building to get to the house from the road - but the effort is well worth it. Truly memorable

Just back from an amazing week in Chalet Sofia in Murren. Really highly recommended. The location is spectacular- waking up every morning to the crisp fresh alpine air - incredible views across to the Eiger, Jungfrau. Miles and miles of quiet hiking on your door step. Great food in the village . The Chalet is incredible - really comfortable, roomy and with lots of great features.

Beautiful chalet in a beautiful village

Our group of 10 friends came to Murren to experience the Swiss Alps, and experience we did! The chalet easily accommodated 10 adults in 5 separate bedrooms. We were able to congregate outside on the balcony every morning and evening for communal downtime while enjoying the spectacular views. However, the chalet is large enough to allow for private time as well. The kitchen was well stocked although we only really used it for breakfast and snacks because the restaurants the owner suggested were so good, we didn't want to cook at night. The owner also suggested several activities (paragliding, white water rafting, hiking, and the via ferrata) which were challenging but also incredible experiences. The owner and house manager went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Outstanding experience in the Swiss Alps

Chalet Sofia is an outstanding place. It is modern, clean, roomy, comfortable and well equipped. The views of the Swiss Alps are amazing. The owners made us feel welcome with their communication before, during and after our stay as well as with some complimentary beverages and snacks upon our arrival. The latter was unexpected, but an extremely nice touch. We highly recommend staying at Chalet Sofia when visiting Murren!

Beautiful chalet

Heavenly Heights!

CHALET SOFIA, Mürren, Schilthorn, Jungfrau region, the dramatic nature, the activities, the weather, the food and the company - if you are of the opinion that there is no upper limit how good life can be - then you are in the right PALACE!! We have had the best family holidays lodging in Chalet Sofia. Superb breakfasts on the patio with the sun, Eiger, Munch and Jungfrau as company. Beautiful days filled with activities such as hiking, biking and rock climbing as well as running and weight training. Long quiet evenings with extraordinary food. And then as a conclusion to the day we say good night to the mountains! At night we sleep deep and dreamless, in divine beds, with full focus on tomorrow How many pictures have we taken on the Eiger? At least a hundred a day! There are many activities to choose in Mürren. Here are some of our favourites that we've received as testimonials and witch we now are happy to pass on. - Hike to Rotstockhütte and eat a Rotstockhütte teller - wash down with a beer or two! - Hike and climb the Schilthorn, stay on Schilthornhütte for a lunch before you go ahead. Once on the Schilthorn, cheat and take the cabin down. - Take a packed lunch to Chilchbalm. It’s a magical place, a nature's own temple, a celebration of life and nature. The whole family loves Chalet Sofia and Mürren - Thord and Annika, Malin and David, Hanna and Petter, Linus and Annika and Alice.

Top class with family and friends

Spent two lovely weeks in Feb with family and friends in this fantastic Chalet. We were 12 pax all in all, 6 adults and the rest older kids and teens. Lot of space and facilities for 12 pax. The Chalet manager was very helpful and service minded with extremely good knowledge of Mürren and the surroundings. Top class!!!
