Milnes virkelige karakter Christopher Robin, dette self-catering sommerhus ligger i en malerisk dal, en 15-20 minutters gang ned ad en dejlig bane fra den berømte Blackpool Sands strand med en top Blue Flag-vurdering for vandkvalitet. Forhal. Stueetage. Dobbeltværelse, eget badeværelse med bruser, to soveværelser og badeværelse. Trappe til veludstyret køkken / spisestue med bjælkelov til attraktiv stue, komfortabelt møbleret. Fra stuen fransk dør til gårdhave og grillplads og 3/4 hektar stor have opretholdt som en dyrelivshave tæppet med påskeliljer og blåklokker om foråret. Sommerhuset ligger 10 minutters kørsel fra Dartmouth med sine fremragende butikker, restauranter og gallerier. Parkering off-street til 2 biler. Alice Cottage tilbyder en dejlig beliggenhed for en familieferie og er en virkelig romantisk flugt. Den nærmeste spisepub og butik ligger 3/4 mile væk i Stoke Fleming. Nærliggende Dartmouth Golf & Country Club giver gæsterne mulighed for at bruge deres fritidsklub (inklusive indendørs swimmingpool) og to golfbaner til en rabat på 25%. Alice Cottage har trådløst bredbånd.

Always glad to return

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. It is so quiet and peaceful here. The cottage is comfortable and clean and the garden, even in late Autumn, is a joy to experience. We have stayed here before and certainly intend to return.

Almost the ideal family holiday

The house itself was excellent: spacious, comfortable and well equipped, and with a fascinating history. It’s remoteness was a mixed blessing with 2 children, but the poor weather for most of the week made the distance to the beach irrelevant. The narrow lanes would have been a serious drawback had they been busy, but we rarely met traffic, and when we did, passing was not usually a problem (although we o nce had to follow a farmer in a Land Rover, driving his very large bull for half a mile before we dared to squeeze past). The only serious disappointment was the lack of an open, flat area of garden for evening games. The description of the property didn't make this clear- saying that the garden was partly wild just wasn't good enough. Parking was fine for our 2 cars. Overall, the property was very good, but fell just short of excellent for us. People in different circumstances might have another view! PS. There were instruction booklets for just about everything except the oven!

Alice Cottage

Lovely cottage with everything you might need, set in peaceful countryside with short walk to Blackpool Sands. The walk to the nearest pub (in Stoke Fleming) was quite steep but the pub was definitely worth it.

Lovely comfortable stay close to the beach

The cottage was airy, comfortable and charmingly decorated with many Winnie the Pooh references. Scones, clotted cream, jam and biscuits were a very kind welcome. Our children were intrigued by the set-up of bedrooms on the ground floor and kitchen and living room on the first. The living room has a huge window to admire the beautiful garden and it was great to have TV with all the available streaming services which not all cottages have, plus a slow cooker when you come back from a late boat trip. A 15-20 walk down a lane leads to Blackpool Sands, a beautiful shingle beach and the Venus Cafe served lovely hot food which was great after cold dips in the sea (recommend the prawn tacos and arancini bites!) There is a wine shop close by where we treated ourselves. The only downside was the narrow lanes to the cottage and sometimes you have to navigate some steep inclines to get back to the last or next passing place. Otherwise, this was very conveniently located close to Dartmouth and its Park and Ride. Really recommend crabbing and the restaurant Rockfish, booking is best and boat trip to Greenway, Agatha Christie's home. Paignton Zoo, Crealy's Adventure Park and above all South West Rib Rides for an adrenaline rushing boat ride at Brixham.

Brilliant property, fantastic location

The cottage was perfect, better than we expected. Very spacious and well equipped, and a great location - 15 minute walk to Blackpool Sands beach and short drive to beautiful Dartmouth.

A great stay in an idyllic location

Alice Cottage is a comfortable, well-equipped semi-detached cottage in a quiet secluded location a short drive (or 15 min walk) from a glorious beach (fine shingle, not sand). The house offers plenty of space, and the garden is a delight: largely left to nature, but teeming with a wide variety of birds. Access lanes are twisty and narrow.

An idyllic holiday

The property was in an idyllic setting; surrounded by verdant countryside , but over the hill (literally) you were right on the beach. The location was excellent for walks on the South West Coastal path (see their website for routes and maps). The cottage was quiet, comfortable and really well-equipped. We would happily return to Alice Cottage in the future.

Totally Relaxing & Peaceful

Perfect cottage which had everything we needed. A lovely secluded location which is a 20 min walk to Blackpool Sands down a typical Devon Lane with very little traffic. Lots of easy walks nearby although a hike uphill to Stoke Fleming. Lots to do in nearby locations and well placed for exploring the South West Coast Path.. And the birds in the garden were the highlight- don't forget to feed them. Loved seeing the nuthatches.

Lovely house near Blackpool beach

A lovely, comfy house in a great location. House very well-appointed with everything we needed. What a great welcome with fresh scones, jam and cream! Not to mention the the tea, coffee milk and biscuits! A lovely touch. We had bad weather unfortunately but there is plenty to do nearby, Dartmouth, Salcombe , National Trust properties etc. The walks we did manage along the coast path were stunning, especially near east prawle area. A lovely stay- would definitely recommend.

Hidden retreat

An idyllic secret location, just a mile from the beautiful beach of Blackpool Sands. Surrounded by trees, I felt like a Thomas Hardy Woodlander. With a river running outside the cottage and the sound of pheasants everywhere, you can totally lose yourself here. Just two little downsides; internet connection was intermittent and if you are not a confident driver, the extremely narrow lane may be a little harrowing. Otherwise sublime.

Komfortables Cottage in idyllischer Lage

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche in Alice Cottage. Das Häuschen bietet viel Platz, ist gemütlich und ist gut ausgestattet (vor allem die Küche) und sehr sauber. Es liegt idyllisch und ruhig in einem Bachtal, Zufahrt über eine single track road. Einer guter Ausgangspunkt für viele Unternehmungen: Ausflüge zu den National Trust Gärten und Häusern, dem schönen Dartmouth, Wandern auf dem Coast Path, zu Fuß zum Meer. Auch das Dartmoor ist nicht weit. Wir haben uns sehr über die Scones bei unserer Ankunft gefreut. Hier würde ich jederzeit wieder Urlaub machen.

A beautiful family cottage which we enjoyed on our trip to Devon.

Alice cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our holiday for a week. The owners have made sure you are well equipped and provided for during your stay. The scones and clotted cream on arrival was a nice touch to welcome you to Devon. All rooms were clean, especially the bathrooms- which is a big tick for us! Our two children had a great week. It is child friendly and they loved it. My only thing I would say is that if you are taking young children, aged below 3 like we did, is that the location is very isolated and the garden isn't suitable. It is a wild garden on a slope, which we fully appreciate but the kids could not go outside unsupervised. However, a wonderful stay and lovely cottage. Thankyou

lovely stay in lovely cottage

We, a family of 4 with two young boys, nejoyed our stay at Alice cottage. We were very lucky with the weather, so every other day we made the easy stroll to Blackpool Sands. The other days we visited beaches or places in the neighbourhood. The cottage itself is very charming but also very convenient.

Erholsame Tage, zauberhaftes Haus

Wir hatten zwei herrliche Urlaubswochen. In dem Häuschen haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt, es hat an nichts gefehlt. In der Umgebung laden Strand, Burgen, Dartmoor zum verweilen, wandern und entdecken ein. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Perfect Hideaway in Devon

This was our first holiday in Devon and we were not disappointed. The cottage was just as described. We loved the wild garden and the cottage. The walk to the beach was perfect exercise and only took 15 minutes and the country lane down to the beach was a lovely walk in itself. The beach claims to be one of the best in Devon and rightly so as it was very clean and had a cafe, shop and toilets. We will certainly be using this cottage again in future years as I don't think we would find anything better.

Fantastic

We had a very pleasant stay at Alice Cottage. Perfect location, 10 minutes walk to the beach and about 30 minutes walk to our favourite pub The Green Dragon (they make the best salted caramel cheesecake in the world!). The cottage is in a quiet area, equipped with everything you need, very well maintained and has a fabulous garden. Shops and supermarkets are about 10 minutes drive, in Dartmouth, a beautiful town where you find everything you need. We took our bikes with us and conquered a few hills! (if you are into cycling this is a great place to ride). We would stay there again. Recommended.

The property was fantastic

The property was gorgeous. It have everything you could want for a perfect away from it all holiday. The area is stunning, a nice little wine merchant 200m away. Dartmouth a short drive. Blackpool sands a nice little stroll away. I can't think of a single thing that the house lacks. The cream tea on arrival was such a lovely touch. Big smiling faces all round. Thank you.

Stunning property

Alice Cottage is a little slice of heaven in South Devon. My family and I had the joy of spending an entire month in the property. It is tastefully kitted out with all you need for both a short holiday or a longer stay. My children loved the garden, building dens and enjoying make believe games. It's only 15 mins walk to Blackpool sands. Dartmouth is just a short journey up the road. We did some great walks along the SW coastal path. If you need peace and quite or time to reflect this is the ideal destination. We didn't want to leave.

Lovely, quiet location

This very clean cottage is well equipped with everything we could possibly. The back garden is natural and peaceful. We were delighted to be greeted by scones, jam, clotted cream and wine when we arrived. it would be best to have a small car to navigate the very narrow roads. The cottage was at times chilly as we felt hesitant to use the heating. Double bed a bit too small for us. Great location.

Perfect cottage in perfect location

We found Alice Cottage brilliant in many ways. It was in a very quiet location and only a 15 min walk to Blackpool Sands - a lovely privately owned shingle beach, incredibly clean and well looked after with really good facilities: life guards, highly rated cafe with good mix of traditional/vegi/vegan foods, kayak hire, beach shop and changing huts by the wc's. Costs a lot to park there (up to £8) however they did waive the fee for us if stopping for the cafe and not using the beach. A few mins drive took us to Dartmouth and the two car ferries, recommend park and ride for long stays if catching ferry to Greenways, etc, as town centre parking limited to 2hrs. The cottage was very well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, separate tumble dryer, log fire and very good wi-fi which worked brilliantly with our chrome cast. It felt really homely with good quality furnishings and lots of interesting books, games, and up to date dvd films. We cooked in a few times and the kitchen was excellent with full sized double fridge & freezer, loads of pots, pans, everything we needed and more. There were loads of things to do locally, in fact too much for our 1 week there. Jubilee coastal walk stopping at Dartmouth Castle for lunch (park in NT car park a few mins drive from cottage). NT Greenways by ferry, holiday home of Agatha Christie. Ferry to Dittsham and Totnes. Kingswear steam train. NT Coleton Fishacres by car ferry. Brownstone Battery by car ferry, a 2 mile round walk from NT car park, we saw seals from Froward Point Coastwatch Station. And of course Dartmouth and Blackpool Beach. A perfect cottage in a perfect location!

We were looking for a holiday property in the late 1990s when the former home of AA Milne's son Christopher Milne (Christopher Robin) came onto the market. The original home called Embridge Forge had been bought by a local solicitor when the Milne's sold and converted into two properties of which Alice Cottage has the majority of the land. We are the second owners after the local solicitor and have tried to maintain some links with the literary past while creating a well loved holiday retreat that will provide fond holiday memories across generations of guests.
