While the description was mostly accurate and the location excellent, we did experience some disappointments. The back yard with the chickens could have been so amazing if the rest of the property had been maintained. 😞
Also, our floors made so much noise that we felt that we had to tiptoe as to not wake the dog next door who barked incessantly every time it heard us. Must have been disturbing to everyone in the house. We love old houses so while this is somewhat expected, maybe pet friendly isn't the best idea (though we know people appreciate the opportunity to bring their pet). Also, we ran out of toilet paper and had to run out for more. Maybe keep more supplies on hand???
A sunny apartment in a good location
This apartment was everything we needed. It was sunny, well equipped and in a great location, just a short walk to a very nice dog park within a park, and about a 1.2 mile walk to restaurants, and a good coffee shop. Best of all, the owner was very responsive and helpful. Also loved the chickens!
Cozy and Comfortable
We loved every bit of our stay in the 1918 House. Scott is a fantastic and responsive host. Like seriously the best host we've encountered to date, and we've had some great ones. The apartment was cozy and well appointed. My husband and I and our twin teenagers stayed there for a weekend and found it 100% comfortable for the four of us. The apartment was well stocked with everything we needed. We loved the game selection, too! And my word, the honey from Scott's beehives was out of this world delicious. We really enjoyed all the nearby restaurants and shopping and the great vibe of the Lake Claire area, too. Great experience all the way around. Thanks!
Anyone who's visited a Southern grandmother will feel at home in this space. Large front porch with some friendly clutter; coded door (safety!); the stairway and upper landing have the scent of an old house, but that doesn't carry over into the apt. Lots of books on shelves on the landing, with a variety of genres and reading levels; lots of children's games in the apt. The apt has the original glass or metal doorknobs, hardwood floors, plaster walls; there are numerous windows throughout. While small-ish, the apt is laid out with three distinct living spaces, which gives a sense of spaciousness. Tons of closet and drawer space; large bathroom with (I think) original tile. Immaculate, good quality linens and many pillows. Well-appointed kitchen. Quiet and peaceful at night.
Communication with the manager was perfect! He was very accommodating with some changes I requested and always answered emails promptly. He's not kidding about the parking space! I had already decided to Lyft to and from Egleston (where my son was having surgery - now enjoying a healthy recovery), but even if I hadn't the challenging parking maneuvering would have made the decision for me. :)
The only thing I didn't give five stars on was accuracy: while yes there is air conditioning as stated, it's only one small window unit in the bedroom. The only way to spread that cool air to the rest of the apt is to keep the bedroom door open and aim the small (provided) fan towards the other rooms. If staying with a group, this would create privacy issues. There are ceiling fans in each room, but Georgia summer was more than a match for them. As it was just me staying there, and only briefly in evenings and mornings, I wasn't bothered by it - and I would definitely stay here again! However I do think that to maintain accuracy (and to increase comfort) the owner might consider installing at least one more window unit.
Overall this was a lovely, peaceful, inviting, charming respite for me to come home to from the stresses of being at the hospital all day. I was grateful every time I arrived there in the evenings. I highly recommend this property and by extension other properties with the same manager.
