Jim’s house is lovely and well appointed! I appreciate the lengths he has gone to in order to be environmentally conscious. He was a gracious host and we appreciated the bottle of wine left on the counter to welcome us. It was a little closer to the interstate than we realized so light sleepers might want earplugs but other than that, it was a great homemade to explore the local wineries!

We were so lucky to find this cute, clean home at the last minute, after different booking canceled on us last minute. It was a blessing in disguise, because we loved out stay in this home. The host was very responsive and helpful, with a long list of local recommendations. The house is very conveniently located close to dozens of wineries with easy access to the highway. We enjoyed the BBQ, hot tub and beautiful sunsets on the outdoor patio. The home was so welcoming, with all that we needed and helped to make out trip to wine country most enjoyable!

Great location for Benton City area!

Wonderful home and great host! Very thorough instructions on everything. It was exactly as advertised. Sat out back and watched the beautiful sunrise with coffee every morning. Walked down the street to a great winery one day. Very comfortable with 5 adults and a baby for 4 days. We will look to stay there again if we are back in the area.

Relaxing, Clean, Everything you need

Had a brief problem getting in, but was resolved within minutes by the home owners.This house had everything you could want. It was in great condition, very functional layout, gorgeous view and patio along with a hot tub.It is near the highway but couldn’t hear it inside at all.

Super comfortable and well appointed house. We cooked dinner and 2 breakfasts and were impressed with the availability of cookware and spices. Place is super clean and comfortable and a great location for exploring the wineries around Red Mountain. Would happily return.

Fantastic Location, Incredible Sunset Views

We had 2 wine loving couples stay here for the weekend in Yakima wine country and had a phenomenal stay! The photos do NOT do the views justice and spending 2 sunsets in the hot tub with wine that we bought locally was THE most amazing experience! The house was clean and comfortable with VERY nice bedding. We very much enjoyed the hot tub & fire pit in the evenings. We all agreed, all of us would return to this property 100% on future stays in the TriCities.

Wonderful Home

Very clean, private property with an amazing view of the stars at night! My family and I enjoyed playing games out on the patio. Jim was a kind host. Highly recommend staying here.

Stay was fine. Owner communicative. House close to the freeway so was a bit noisy. Well appointed kitchen and plenty of towels. Hot tub and gas fire pit out back. Sat out back for coffee in the mornings. Nice view.

A vacation stay

We wanted a place where the sunset is amazing and this place is awesome. Close to freeway and very close to a winery. Weather is fantastic but you couldn’t tell ot was 98 degrees, the house was keeped at 72 degrees. Would love to return again

Well kept home with lovely views

We stayed for two nights while wine tasting. Easy location to many wine tasting venues. Communication with James was excellent. Very clean and lovely view in the backyard. Location was very close to freeway which caused some issues for a few of us at night (road noise). I brought earplugs and had no issues.

Wonderful!

Jim’s home is perfect for a getaway to E Washington. The home is exactly as pictured: super clean and comfortable, with lovely views out to Rattlesnake Mountain and Red Mountain. It has everything you need or want: nice plush towels and soft sheets, a well-stocked cupboard with condiments for cooking, and all the conveniences and extras listed are readily available and enhance the enjoyment (like the washer and dryer, the hot tub, outdoor seating). This home has it all! Additionally, Jim is a superb host: we had excellent communication with him before booking and our trip, and he provides super clear materials for checkin/out and usage of everything in a booklet for your stay. Also, the home is in a fantastic location! You’re just a bit out of Richland - so you have nicer views and more privacy - but you are right beside the beautiful wineries and vineyards of Red Mountain. If you like day hiking, Horse Heaven Hills are right across the road and both Candy Mountain and Badger Mountain trailheads are less than 15 minutes. All these are great hiking! (Further afield and also recommended are White Bluffs and, for birdwatchers, McNary Wildlife Refuge.) So, Jim’s home provides quick and easy to access to days and days of enjoying the beautiful flora and fauna of this area. (Geology buffs will also appreciate the landforms from the Ice Age floods - you can learn all about this fascinating history at the Reach Museum). And, if you’re a foodie, there are good restaurants too!

Winery touring

We had a wonderful experience here. The house was very clean and it is in a great location. The beds were comfortable and the house had all the amenities for an easy stay. Thanksforbeinggreat host.

Lovely home

The home was clean with all the amenities needed for a comfortable weekend away. The owner communicated regularly and quickly. The location was close to wineries, hiking and local attractions. We'd stay here again!

Vært: Jim Hendricks

Værtens profilbillede
James Hendricks is a retired technology teacher from the Tri Cities. He was raised in Spokane, went to college at North Idaho College and Colorado State University on wrestling scholarships. He came to the Tri Cities in 1980 after spending three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the West Indies. Jim has had a fantastic career in that he has taught in middle schools, high schools, alternative schools and a STEM school. During his 39 year career, Jim has set up five brand new technology labs and programs for new schools or existing schools that had need. He has won state and national awards for his innovation and interdisciplinary curriculum development.

Jim also has spent about 16 summer internship programs at Battelle Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA to learn about electronics, robotics and how research and development businesses solve problems.

During the summer, Jim loves to camp on his pontoon boat up and down the Snake and Columbia Rivers. During cooler weather, Jim can be found camping along river banks, ocean shores or mountain view points in his motor home.

After 39 years of teaching, Jim discovered the new construction home on his way to a meeting in Prosser, WA. Jim fell in love with the property at the first viewing, and bought the house just before spring break in his final year of his award winning career. The summer of 2015 was spent landscaping and development of the house for hosting guests. Jim plans to travel when the house is booked.

If you and friends are into wine tasting, you will love to spend a weekend or longer in this home. The house is located near exit 93 on I-82 for convenient travel to more than 40 wineries within a ten mile radius according to Yelp listings.

Also 99% of Washington wines are grown on the east side of the Cascade mountains. You will be in the middle of eight AVA/appellations should you stay here. Appellations include Yakima Valley AVA, Rattlesnake Hills, Red Mountain AVA, Walla Walla Valley AVA, Horse Heaven Hills, Wahluke Slope, Snipes Mountain and Natches Heights. All within an hour drive.

The most spectacular benefit of this house is the stunning 180 view in the back. It is an excellent place to entertain guests or to relax looking at the view with your favorite glass of wine.

The house was built with excellence, high quality appliances and tasteful color scheme.

The house recently had installed a 7.8KW solar panel system, that will provide clean electric power to the grid every sunny day. The solar system will generate more power than you will consume during your stay.

Free in garage charging for electric vehicles and outside RV box to plug in your RV.
