Secluded Oasis

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay and were so warmly welcomed by the hosts, Sherrin and Tony. Surrounded by gorgeous mountains, a sparkling clean river situated in a secluded forested area, we were fully immersed in the beauty of nature and able to experience a very peaceful visit. The guest house was perfectly suited to our needs with all the comforts of home not to mention a luxurious pool that we indulged in daily. A meandering garden path with colourful blooms, a water fountain feature, grape vines and even a lemon tree all added to the charm. We will remember our visit with much fondness and would highly recommend the location to others. Thanks so much!

Lovely hosts but the property was not as described.

This was a family holiday for 5 people - 2 adults, 3 teens. Firstly - Tony and Sherrin are lovely people and Sherrin stayed up until 3am as our flight was delayed and we had travel problems. On arrival there was a fruit basket, wine, eggs and milk in the fridge etc and they offered us coffee the next morning and introduced themselves - very friendly - cannot fault them and if the rating was about people, I'd give them 5 stars. Secondly - The accommodation. We picked the property because it was advertised as having 3 bedrooms. This is where the star rating falls. Bedroom 1 - Gorgeous and perfect for a honeymoon couple. Bedroom 2 was advertised as having 2 full sized beds which we thought was ideal for our teenage boys (17 and 15yrs old) and so expected a twin bedroom as the advert description was: "Bedroom 2: 2 x large single beds". However, bedroom 2 was a very small attic space that the boys could not stand up in, indeed they could only just kneel and it had a sloping ceiling. There was no bedroom furniture, no wardrobe and just a ledge to put suitcases and some clothes on - the full sized beds were in fact mattresses laid onto the attic floor. The main advert also stated that "all bedrooms have separate hand basins" - it did not have a hand basin. There was only a ladder to access the space and this had to keep being moved so we could open the front door. This was more than disappointing and the description is a misrepresentation of the room. The lack of space for our 2 sons did have a dramatic effect on the enjoyment of our holiday because they both found it cramped, they couldn't get dressed in it and it offered no privacy and also as the ladder blocked the front door access - it meant that if our daughter wanted to come into the lodge during the night (her room had no access to the main lodge other than via the main door), she could not (unless we stored the ladder, which would have meant our sons being unable to climb down to use the toilet). In summary bedroom 2 is a sleeping area and not a bedroom and not suitable for adults or teenagers and the description did not give a fair or accurate description of what it actually was. Bedroom 3 was a pretty room with an en-suite. It has no access to the main lodge other than via the main front door - something we had queried in advance but I think the communication on this was confused. As we arrived at 3am we had no option but to accept the accommodation as was.

Nergens iets op aan te merken. Heerlijk rustig als de hond vd buren zijn kop hield. Die was regelmatig ook nachts te horen.Maar daar hebben de verhuurders geen schuld aan.

Een heerlijke ontspannen tijd

Verblijven bij Sherrin en Tony is heeeeeerlijk. Je voelt je meteen helemaal welkom. Het huis is heerlijk. Het was behoorlijk warm toen we daar waren, maar in huis bleef het koel Ivendien was het lekker toeven aan de rivier, waar het eigen strandje lekker in de schaduw bleef. Wil je zon, dan zwem je gewoon over. De jongens vonden het heerlijk om dammetjes te bouwen , of we probeerden om een vlot te maken. Water schoenen zijn handig! We vroegen er niet om, maar een opblaasband of zo zou leuk zijn, mocht je er aan denken. Het zwembad is eveneens zalig. Diep genoeg om bommetje in de doen, en heerlijk om er te ontwaken. Het zicht is prachtig vanaf daar. Op het eigen terras aan het huis was de blauwe regen net iets te hoog geschoten om nog veel uitzicht te hebben. We vlochten een aantal takken weg. De gastheer en gastvrouw zijn werkelijk zo n lieve mensen. Zoals ze zeiden, we zijn net genoeg aanwezig en net genoeg afwezig. We vonden het heerlijk om met hen een glaasje te drinken. We deden de wandeling 8 die begon in Castro dairo, en gingen ook naar de Pavia pathways. Wat leuk was. Doe de wandeling van boven naar beneden. Zet je wagen op de aankomst plaats en huur een jeep naar dehet vertrekpunt aan de hangbrug. Wij hadden het tijdslot om 14 , dat was maar even zon, en daarna lipene we op de flank in de schaduw. Neem inderdaad voldoende water mee.we dronken water van de waterval, maar er werd toch eentje ziek van ons. Het leuke is dat iedereen ergens wel een plekje vons.

Férias no sossego e tranquilidade

Semana de férias muito tranquilas e com todos os ingredientes para aproveitar o sossego e beleza natural do local. Tem tudo o que precisa. Piscina muito boa e sempre bem cuidada. A Sherrin e o Tony foram super atenciosos e calorosos na receção e estadia.

Een stukje paradijs

Een plek als deze kom je niet vaak tegen. Vooreerst is er de warme en hartelijke ontvangst door de sympathieke gastvrouw en gastheer die je verwelkomen in de kraaknette lodge. De jongste kinderen slapen in een avontuurlijke mezzanine, voor de oudste is er een private studio :-) . Voor de ouders is er een slaapruimte met de omvang van een hotelsuite. Het panoramisch zicht vanop het terras is adembenemend. Al wat je kan zien is natuur. Het hele valleitje is voor de gasten, inclusief een privaat strandje langs de rivier waar je frisse duik kan nemen in het water. Wanneer we nog eens in de buurt komen, komen we zeker nog eens terug!

Endroit merveilleux et hôtes charmants

Le bruit de la rivière, la vue, le calme, un vrai havre de paix. Les propriétaires sont sur place mais très discrets et aux petits soins et avec de bons conseils des environs. Nous étions 2 adultes et 4 enfants, cela restera des vacances inoubliables, la piscine, la rivière, le décor, plein de visite possible avec l’autoroute à Castro Daire. Rien à redire, juste parfait ! Allez y les yeux fermés ! Sylvie, Nicolas, Thibaut, Maëlle, Aurélie, Anaïs.

Wow! What a memorable and happy time we all had staying here! Sherrin and Tony were incredible hosts

The property was as described and the location just spectacular. The house suited us very well as a family with 2 children (who loved the bunk room!) and grandparent (who loved having his own ensuite 'granny flat!). Being originally from southern Africa the house reminded us of a Safari lodge. The house had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. We loved the views during the day of the breathtaking views over the mountains, and at night we star gazed and saw some phenomenal shooting stars. The pool was incredible and we spent lots of time swimming in it. We also loved swimming in the river and using Sherrin and Tonys inflatable boat to paddle in the river. We went on several walks around the local area- which is really very beautiful. For us our stay was made so special by Sherrin and Tonys incredible hospitality and kindness: a super welcome pack, welcome drinks at their house, allowing our children to help with looking after the chickens and ducks and walking of the dogs, helpful advice about the local area, and just lovely chats when we saw each other. We plan to return and would definitely recommend others to stay here too.

Perfect!

We were 5 teenage girls and loved our stay. We all wanted to stay much longer! Sherrin and Tony are so lovely people. They helped us with everything and gave us tips about the area and the best beach. The area is beautiful and quiet, perfect to relax and enjoy life. The river and the pool are great ways to relax and swim. You do need a car but even I didn´t have a problem to rent a car, although I am only 18 years old. So it is very easy, not very expensive and you are flexible with a car. The house itself is just stunning! We all were speechless for a few minutes and just had to check out everything. The upper bedroom with the double bed is amazing and even has a small sink to brush your teeth. One friend and I slept in the other small bedroom, which is like a small attic but has enough space to sleep and store your luggage. I personally loved it there. Since I am a pretty small person I could even stand in it. There also is a single bedroom with a bathroom, which we only used as a bathroom, because one of us slept on one of the couches. We wanted to sleep in the same room, so the single bedroom was unused, but it is very pretty and I would have slept in it as well. The whole house and the garden has a charme that makes you feel at home. We all were saying "I am going to stay here" throughout our whole stay and at the end no one of us wanted to leave. We also wanted to adopt the dogs and the cat, but we knew that we couldn´t just take them to Germany with us, so we left them there. All in all this house is amazing and Sherrin and Tony are the best hosts. We all want to come back and stay longer that time. Maybe forever...

Fantastic trip..

I first saw this fantastic Quinta last year on YouTube and wanted to go then, but sadly had too much work to doo!!! This year however we decided to go for s short stay in late February and it did not disappoint at all... The Owners Tony and Sherrin were amazing hosts and extreamly helpful and kind. After arriving we fealt very much at home as we went and had coffee with them in the main house. Also Sherrin’s home made bread was a real treat. The lodge was fantastic and comfortable and the views are actually better in real life!!! I really went to see the river. As a keen fly fisherman I wanted to see if it could fish well in the season. We walked a lot of the banks and it’s very accessible and a large amount of fish!!!! If we were there longer we would have done more exploring as there is plenty to do. Particularly exploring the Towns and Villages on the Douro.. I would definitely go back for longer!! Thank you Tony and Sherrin for a great break and see you again soon!

Near Reriz, a charming lodge on the shore of Rio Paiva. So tranquil and blissful, truly magical ...

We arrived on the 28th and were welcomed by Tony and Sherrin as though we had known them for years. Right from that very moment we felt at home. Sherrin had made bread for us, we had a bottle of wine on the table to welcome us and the fridge was stocked with all we needed for supper and breakfast. We stayed at the chalet which is exquisite and tastefully decorated. The kids absolutely loved the loft niche. The property is secluded and so peaceful. Although it was winter we had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the river, the views from the lodge are amazing. The kids played freely on the land and with the dogs and cat. Tony and Sherrin had plenty of suggestions on what we should visit in the region and where we could eat. On New Year's Eve we had snacks and at the main house with the lovely couple and it was wonderful to get to know them better. We had a truly marvelous time and hope to return to swim in the pool and private beach on the river. We could not have asked for a better long weekend.

Great time in Reriz
